Not in the near future but it is likely some form of cryptocurrency will replace fiat one day. I imagine some forward thinking smaller countries will adopt and recognise crypto-currencies as a currency and allow people to use it to transact with daily. I think it will spread from there to other place around the world. At the end of the day if everyday people start using it then can it really be stopped?
We have a government that will likely gonna see this things, there are small countries already where they ban bitcoins and that is because
their government does not support bitcoin and they considered it as a big risk or a treat to their real money.
Seeing cryptocurrency will rule in the future seems very unlikely IMO.

I think there's no need to replace dollar with bitcoin. It would be better if you have dollars and bitcoin at the same time. The more options you have, the easier life would be. On the other hand there's no way to eliminate dollars anytime soon because its been a proven and widely used currency across the globe.

Until now there has been no official state using bitcon, this makes bitcoin development becomes obstructed, moreover there are many countries that officially banned bitcoin, if there is assumption bitcoin replace dollar of course this will be difficult happened in a short time, and maybe need at least 50 years to replace dollar.
Bitcoin will "never" replace dollar even there will be like 50-100 years to go then it will not be enough for bitcoin to replace dollar because dollar is a currency that is already here in our world even we are not yet born and dollar is unstoppable because it is being backed by the government and the government will do anything to not let dollar disappear.

Yes agree, as long as the USA with USD is still a super power it will be difficult to replace the dollar until whenever, just the opposite if bitcoin becomes a threat to the dollar then USA will destroy bitcoin.

I think Yes Bitcoin will replace dollar but for a long term. Dollar is falling soon and they don't even have gold reserves. they said they they have gold but unfortunately the have backed up oil and gas.
Well, let's see what will happen in the future but my guess is that will not be possible bitcoin is not as strong as dollar.
The government would be happy to have bitcoin as it helps a lot to us but to replace dollar it seems like they will do everything to make it impossible to happen.

Look ARROUND!
Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Read the following news:
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114983/coinbase-ceo-bitcoin-will-replace-dollar-within-15-years

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?
I don't think bitcoin will really replace dollar as it is the money that people are used to and it might take a long time to do that but it will not really replace dollar. But of course we can't predict future it might be happen if a country has many rich people or the country itself is on the top among of us that even government will use it. But for now lets hope for the better future of bitcoin.

I never thought about it, it's very difficult if bitcoin can replace the dollar, I think it's just a dream. If that happens it takes a very long time.
Me too, I am more realistic now and although bitcoin is one of the most promising invention for the future, it's just not gonna eliminate the real money which has a power given by the government. If the government can ban bitcoins that means bitcoin is not that powerful, so let's just hope they will accept not only bitcoin but the entire cryptocurrency because together there are more success.
That's the fact. Though bitcoin is an promising innovation that has got lots and lots of inbuilt benefits it hasn't gained the importance of dollar, because people fear of believing in a virtual asset. With dollar the backing authorities won't allow it to fall that easy, and bitcoin is very young compared to dollar. Maybe things will change in the future, but looking the present nothing is gonna change.

It could happen but I think I will not witness this because I'm sure this will happen in the distant future where I don't exist anymore. It's going to be hard for people who are used to accepting dollars for buying something but the next generation of people will not.

I think NO bitcoin will not replace the dollar now because the dollar is international currency backed by America the world super power. Bitcoin is also applicable everywhere but it is not that much powerful to replace the dollar.
I agree to that. The bitcoin is yet powerful but it is not enough to help the people to sustain their needs in financial money and bitcoin is not fixed on its value so the other people will find it difficult to use it everyday because they will might regret for spending it and not keeping it if the price is still going up. So there is a lot of possible problems in bitcoin and that is why i don't think that bitcoin will not replace dollar.
Bitcoin or any other crypto currency will possibly replace the dollar soon and maybe not on this era because using electronics money as all source for the mode of payment requires internet connections on every establishment but we can see today that there are many ordinary citizen on a developing country's having simple business on the street and i can't imagine how they will do the transaction without the real money. Beyond that the dollar was still a strongest currency and almost all the super rich in the world are supporting on it.

I have the feeling people in this thread would see this as a positive evolution.

Realize that replacing dollar by bitcoin would lead to a very selfish society where every person would have to take care of himself. So no welfare, public services, education, health care because there will be no system in place to pay for this...

It are 2 totally different things...

Some governments like Russia is planning to create their own cryptocurrency in the future in which they can be able to control and later use it as  their legal tender. The planned cryptoruble, for example, will be used by Russia instead of bitcoin because they caneasily deregulates it. In the future, instead of using bitcoin to replace dollar, the dollar might replace by another virtual currency created completely by the government.
You shouldn’t be expecting a stock to replace a real currency. If real currencies like dollar and euro would be replaced, that would have happened since with the current rate of Bitcoin which is out beating every single currency. Stocks are always high valued than real currencies, so Bitcoin can never be chosen as a currency, it will remain a stock cause that’s what it is.

It will be more easy to believe each country will make their own crypto currencie, keeping the control with banks and countries, unlike bitcoin and altcoins wich being decentralized means there is no one to control your steps at all. Bitcoin wont replace nothing, just is another option to store value as well a big potencial investment return to short, medium and long plans.

First of all, the price of Bitcoin needs to be stable if it wants to become the currency for daily using. As FIAT, it has fixed its price and the value of FIAT depends on the growth of the country's economy and finance own the currency.
