Coinbase CEO believes bitcoin will replace dollar within 15 years.

Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?
That's quite absurd. Bitcoin is still young compared to Dollar which has been used through decades by different countries upto the present. And Dollar in the first place is a regular currency, and considered as a big currency. It has also a physical market value. Maybe in the next 15 years Bitcoin will be as dominant as dollar in terms of being used as a currency especially if it will be legal to most countries but it's impossible that it will replace Dollar.

Yes I agree with that, bitcoin will replaced most currencies of the world but that is if the acceptability is approved in many Chanel and outlet as a means of payment. Since it is decentralized currency and can not be subjected to any central bank of any country.

Something all should already know its dollars, fiat its printed money soo they can print unlimited money, bitcoin for other side has a supply limited, and should get less and less coins avaible over the time, being loosing wallets keys or any other way. With this said there is no way to bitcoin replace any currencie, and dollar currently is the currencie present at all transactions over the world.
Yes I agree with you that the supply will be the big problem but as we know that the importance of bitcoin is much more than a dollar. As bitcoin will prevail all over the world then the mining program will also be different because today mining is only done by limited persons and privately and no government is involved in it and then its mining will be officially and on a huge supply.

Yes I think.
Bitcoin is our future money. So it has the chance to replace the dollar soon but we do not know when. Its gonna be a long ride! Smiley
Yes I also think the same. Bitcoin will overcome dollar and all other paper currencies of the world. as the people are taking interest and are buying bitcoin for the earnings and usage all over the world, soon it will dominate all the currencies.

It is also be a very good sign for most of the countries because we want get rid of the domination of dollar around the world. we want a single currency all over the world.

Bitcoin will only follow the dollar but will not replace the dollar, take the easy example until now there are still many people who make transactions using real money and still have to meet the second party without knowing how to transact via ATM, currently we are discussing about Digital money there will be more People Which will have difficulty in transacting.

Can't really say that what you are saying is completely true. Sure, Bitcoin does follow the dollar right now but soon enough it will be the other way around. What we are part of is not simply "Digital money". We are part of a revolution unlike any other where we, the people, take full control of our financials and put the power back to where it belongs. I certainly can't wait until the banksters on wall strett stop dictating what I can or can't do with MY hard earned cash. I can't wait until the day we see poor countries truly get the help that they need thanks to Crypto and Blockchain tech. You have to remember that Bitcoin also stops corruption more or less, both within govs. and banks.

I'll make a bold prediction and say that if we continue in the same pace we are today, in 50 years people won't talk about the dollar, or the euro or any other currency. There'll only be crypto and Bitcoin will be the at the helm.
I agree with you. Not only transactions there are many more obstacles in bitcoin to be the number one currency of the world. But we are not of today we are talking of the future. And I think in the future bitcoin will be the only currency of the world.

It will eliminate all the other currencies fiat or crypto from the market and bitcoin will dominate alone. There is a lot of possibility for bitcoin to overcome.

No, I don't think so,
Bitcoin is not stable and centralize currency, it is very difficult to track transaction because there is only users involvement.

Bitcoin will not replace dollar because we need fiat or dollar to run the transaction, bitcoin is more like a payment system
and we need real money to play and complete the transaction.

Lets just go with probably the idea of bitcoin as a one of the main stream currencies but i think will never replace the value of dollars. Not in a near future. I mean it can go side to side with other currencies but will not top off dollars.

reasons why bitcoin will never replace dollar.
- not stable in value or very volatile
- not regulated or cannot be controlled
- no provisions
well, maybe in the next generation if something happen it might replace dollar since there is no impossible.

No, I don't think that Bitcoin will replace dollar soon simply because of the fact that dollar works offline whereas Bitcoins require Internet for its use. Moreover dollar is the most popular currency of the world and Bitcoin has to go a long way to beat dollar in terms of acceptance and popularity.

No. If bitcoin will replace dollar then bitcoin has to replace the US currency first. But dollar is almost worldwide. Even bitcoin price is based on dollar as well as gold. So if dollar will be demolished in place of Bitcoin, to what currency would the price of bitcoin be based?

Wow, over 200 pages of responses. I'm sorry I didn't read them all.

But just my opinion:
1) In this stage bitcoin is too volatile, but over 13 years (yes, that post was 2 years ago) all bitcoins are mined, so probably the volatility will be much better then.
2) The US has far too much debt; so if the money can't be covered by the government, what is it really worth? Already USD has less influence then a few years ago.

So will USD be replaced: yes.
So will Bitcoin replace USD: I don't know, but it really can be an option.

I think this is a possibility, it may not seem that likely now that bitcoin does not have a big user base but that is going to change in the next decade and if we take into account that a new economic crisis is going to happen in the future once again and that this next crisis is going to dwarf all the crisis that have come before it, then people are going to try to look for anything that protects them from the effects of that crisis and one of those places people are going to run is bitcoin.

Nope that cant happen. Maybe after 20 years or something. Many people doesnt even know what Bitcoin is and that is difficult to replace it.
First you must learn them how Bitcoin works and than you can replace it. So maybe later in the future.
I will agree with you in this context that many people are indeed still totally unaware of bitcoins. Their minds are blank about bitcoins or they don’t even have a simple concept of digital currencies. To make bitcoins replace dollar, we need to make bitcoins as much popular as dollar is.

I don't think so that bitcoin can replace the dollar as the government will do its best to maintain the strength and integrity of the dollar. Moreover bitcoin is only a cryptocurrency and doesn't has enough power to replace the dollar. But nobody has seen the future.

It is hardly possible in the near future. Yet cryptocurrencies do have enormous potential and with time bitcoin will be much more available for day to day operations, like buying staff in a local mall, etc.

I think some sources say like this news and that want to have some Indicator about the future of effect the bitcoin
There are some people who really ant dollar to be badly destroyed by these new digital currencies but I think dollar won’t be destroyed forever but yes it can be limited to national currency. Internationally now digital currencies will be used for doing trading. Dollar’s reign is almost over now.

Where do you get this information for? If there is no usd so how can bitcoin have any price? Do you think if there is only coin you can do everything with it? This is really ridiculous when someone want to get rid of dollars and replace it with coin, if there is no based with tons of coin you can do anything too. Dollars and bitcoin will going together, if they want to adapt on market

Not before long... Simply because the technological innovation is even now fairly younger and we want much more adopters.
Absolutely! It is not possible in the near future, but I think there is nothing in this world which cannot happen. Anything is possible and we cannot predict the future. There are chances that a day will come when we see Bitcoin replacing dollar. I think if this thing happens, then we may be able to see a completely different world.
