>Beerman. Have one on me.
I have looked in the manual. There should be more gold and silver to mine. Bitcoins got its limitations. Only 21 millions. No lady-bags. no holding hands. No hidden ore.
And then there is the 47 coin. Only 47 coins. You do not need a lecture. I know. Ups. 42 coin. More beers.

Reminds me of a carlsberg add where they share everything except the beers. Toothbrush. You name it..

And i starting still promoting it. "Like. Yeaah imagine in the future people will have lightcoin radiators. Then you got heat and a moneymachine while this snowstorm is on. My graphicscard can go 79 degrees. blah blah. That is more then enough for a very hot bath. Put it in the bathtub..".

I am asking this just to see the different opinions of Bitcoin community about its long term potential

I know Bitcoin is actually strong enough and stable as well

But what do you think about it after 100 years ?
Honestly we don't know what will be happen after 100 years.. and maybe i will be die early first before experience bitcoin after 100 years..
The best for now to enjoy what is bitcoin and thank to god that bitcoin still alive..
For me my own speculation bitcoin will be live for a long time and i think forever bitcoin will be alive forever .. this is just my own speculation and possible bitcoin can be short to live because bitcoin price is not stable and anytime soon there are some a group of hackers can be down the big exchanges that can sell bitcoin once they hack the big exchange site..

Or bitcoin will be die if there are hackers can be crack or bruteforce the private keys of every bitcoin address..

I will not agree here. The volatility is still too high and bitcoin can't be stable. Even the blockchain still face different issues. IMHO in 100 years the BTC price may be high bun it moght become more centralized due combining miners to different pools and it may be a real threat.

I can not reply to this subject:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1571738.7040

Had a party with this movie while they are having a ball:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7jRWvdR5XQ

And i was. Like. He got an ego now and Nielson got the best of him.. While drinking a beer.

Ups. Here goes. Buy the dvd if you belive in patent on boiling eggs.
"He is beginning to believe."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy7RaQUmOzE

Judging from the movie. Superstitious and everything it looks like Neo is going down.

But i think bitcoins will eat the world. In the end we will make bitcoinmachines out of every grain of sand we can find.

Like. If you fall in love with making paperclips and convert the world to believe it is on that single mission.

I don't think bitcoin will survive for another 100 years because it is capped till 2023 and after that bitcoin will not be available through mining. It can be only tradeble then. I am sure bitcoin will survive for another 15-20 years but not beyond that. Miners will find some other coin to mine and make profit.

Bitcoin is a 54 billion strong industry now but that doesn't guarantee about the future. Once bitcoin will not be minable, then probably market will go through a major change and lot of people will be moving their investment to other currencies. However, it is very hard to say what will happen in future.

Presale is live!
Yes it will.

Why?

Because the technology will still exist and so will Bitcoin.

The real question is... would people still use Bitcoin after 100 years, or some other cryptocurrency?

I think it will as long as there are devs who continue to upgrade it for the need of the time and a strong community that supports it. I think no one among us now can live that long to witness it but I still strongly believe that bitcoin will be around for a long time.

I still can not say anything interesting because the 100 year period is not a short time and it is still far in my mind. If should expect that It may happen. seeing from year to year the growth of bitcoin enthusiasts is getting more and bitcoin getting popular among the crowd so maybe it happens

Said correct no one can tell that what will happen the next movement because if Bitcoin have to die then anything will happen and it will die in a next movement. but we can hope that it will survive more then 100 years then surely most of the country will start to accept bitcoin as currency so automatically we can see a lot of potential results which will make bitcoin very popular and the price will be going high at unexpected price.

For this question to be answered the term 'survival' needs to be defined in this context.
In order for Bitcoin to survive, as in, still be functional and have the capability of making transactions it needs miners and nodes.

Will it still have full nodes and miners 100 years from now? Most likely yes, but one can never be sure.
Will it still be the #1 cryptocurrency in terms of price and market cap? Maybe.

So yes, I believe that Bitcoin will survive in the most basic sense at least.

Bitcoin is not even 10 years old now. To think about whether it will exist 100 years is waste of time in my opinion. The developments in the crypto world are always fast and innovative. Perhaps there will soon be a new development that will replace the crypto currencies as we know today. In 2006 no one would have thought that there could be a decentralized currency without central banks or central maintainers. One must think the impossible.

looking at the state of Bitcoin after 100 years from now, it will be a high development and Ranking to Bitcoin, and a room for other crypto currency to be used maybe worldwide.
So, the state of Bitcoin from now till a hundred years coming will make, will make its price get to the predictions people are giving about Bitcoin.

As I really can't predict the future,  I believe that anything can happen within that period, there is a saying that everything thay rises eventually falls, Bitcoin is the major crypto currency at the moment but I believe that as time goes on,  another will come which will be more profitable to people and they will flock towards it abandoning bitcoin.

Bitcoin could last for decades but imo meaningless to talk about a period like 100 years. Who knows what will happen by then?

Regardless of what bitcoin's fiat worth is there will always be enough to go around as 1 bitcoin is divisible many, many decimals/values. For this reason I say yes bitcoin will be around in 100 years. The only question is if it is still profitable for miners but I presume it will be, maybe somebody could clarify this.

It could still be profitable to miners. Some of the things I have read state that there will be so many people using and transacting with it that the fees will be really really low, but will make up for it.

It is also possible that if miners drop out or cannot profit the difficulty could go down.

100 years from now though I would Imagine BTC has Hardforked multiple more times and people are using different versions. I think they would just use the BC altcoins and use a service like shapeshift to conver if they need to buy someting from somewhere that doesn't take that BTC altcoin.

the interesting thing is that HF may be useful in decreasing network hashrate. If more and more hashrate goes into other BTC altcoin clones/Hardforks it would be interesting to see how that plays out.
