It is true that Esports are getting more popular these times of the pandemic but I doubt that it will ever be more popular than sports betting.

It is true that the viewership of each tournament is increasing but that we can't always relate that to betting since we can't always say that if there are a lot of people watching, there will be a lot of bets on it since not all of them are betting themselves. Sports bettors are not even watching the game itself, they watch the replay or just look at the result of their bet directly to the site.

As much as I want esports betting to be a big thing I doubt it'll take over most of the popular sports. Their numbers are indeed growing but it might not be the same for the betting side because gamblers have their own preference and stick to the sports they're more profitable on which is usually basketball, baseball,hockey and other main sports. Some of the games could also be less enjoyable since it takes more time to understand the mechanics unlike most of the ball games.

Kids are growing, and they know more about gaming then about sports. Asian countries are the leaders, there you have a situation where esport is more popular than classical sport (if I can say it like that), when I watch some LoL games from there I think of it as higher levels, for example my country is far from that.
And with these numbers from this article we can say that esports will become more popular than normal sports betting. With this peace it can happen in next 20 years!

If we think that the popularity of e-sports games has increased and gamblers have started to make more bets in this area, yes, I think that such bets will be more popular in the future. As an example, we can see that there are no sports bets due to the cessation of sports competitions and therefore many gamblers are turning to alternative areas such as e-sports. I tend to agree because the result of my short researched was the majority in the survey they found out that the numbers of e-sports gamers, bettors, and viewers were increased. Probably because people now are in a stay at home.

Now, that many sporting events are coming back and for sure sports betting will have an uptrend again online. But for esports, this will do no change because we've been into esports whether the world situation is in good or bad shape. The major change in the esporting events are their prestigious events have been cancelled and that's the same as the normal other sports that we're also watching and betting.

The opening of 21st century remarks the beginning of modern era. Technology spread vastly all over the world. Games and sports become more popular because it is not only for a physically fit person but it can be for children, grandparents and even girls. Many people catch up easily how an Esport game played than in real sport. Although we know that there are established fan already in sports, Esports become dominated time by time.

Imagine, if every people can relate to the game they will more gamble their money to the best team they know. Right now, we don`t see yet the gap between sports betting and esports gambling because we are still amidst of their popularity but soon, Esports gambling may maneuver the whole ecosystem of gambling.

Athletic sports is considered more sexier right now, but after physics and graphics get better and movement gets more variety, they are going to be way easier to market.
And one thing that "real" sports are bringing to the table is athletics, but eSports could fuse that in by brining augmented reality in games too, in big halls, where you could modify the room to respond suits, the results could be state of the art movie-like effects.

As of this current situation, I think Esports betting will be more popular than normal sports betting because most of us are still afraid of going outside to avoid contact with other people. There are still some spots that don't allow the audience in the arena because it would be crowded if they will let this thing happen. If you are really want to bet even though you are at home you may do the Esports betting, for sure there are always stream for every sports event and there you can bet what you want to bet. That is better compared to the normal sports betting because the virus is still there and we need to be careful.
Indeed, i also prefer to sports in normal sports betting because I can watch live the event, but with his current situation, its better to choose the Esports betting.

Each and every one of us have different likes and hobbies when it comes to that. Some of us really like playing which they find it interesting for them, and some other people are finding sports as their hobbies. It can be both and it depends on the people because sports can be put into a game. Just like NBA, FIFA, UFC and etc., they are sports which are introduce in a gaming platform.

It is not that necessary to compare because we have our own taste when it comes to gambling. Commonly for us, sports are very common and most of us are knowledgeable about that. It will grow faster as years go. You have the so-called "boomers" for which eSports make zero sense, while you have newer generations coming up for which eSports are something very exciting they look up to .. hence the higher possibility imo for them to exceed the industry of real sports gambling.

As older generations get older, the newer ones will make eSports boom within a matter of decades imo. While real sports will be popular as well, eSports are going to be a bigger thing specifically due to the fact that anyone can join an international match and train with their own team against others (like on CS:GO) as if they were in some international championship. Gives you a great feeling to know you are placed against better and better players. With real sports, that's a much harder feeling to get.

It's really hard to Believe that league of legends manage to surpass Dota 2's popularity but its understandable with the recent changes of new patches some Dota players got turned off of the game as it was like not playing Dota anymore.
Anyways back to the question, i agree that Esports will gain much more popularity because of newer generations prefers playing online games because it has cool graphics, animations and various things you can't do in physical sports.

Still too low compared to the sports betting market, and it's hard for eSports to surpass the market of sports betting since as it grows, same thing is happening with the sports betting market.

well  if that will happen at least not in our generation because majority of us loves seeing their Team in physical playing and not those computer animated games.

and also we must let our children Know what is the importance of Sports in actual and not those they only need to Sit infront of their computers.

It depends because although e-sports are starting to gain more attention, traditional sports events remain popular. A lot of people are already into e-sports that's why e-sport gambling is also becoming in demand but I doubt that everyone will shift from sports betting to e-sports. The two will remain popular because gamblers can be a fan of both. It's just that, we cannot have the usual sports event we had before because of the pandemic that's why a lot of gamblers are moving in e-sports. But once everything comes back to normal, they will still receive the same attention they used to have.

Let's expect that e-sports events and betting will be really popular because of technology. But since it has a different excitement with traditional sports events, I don't think we have to worry about who will gain more attention from gamblers because both of them will.

I'm interested to know on how we will convert this into bets because we are tacking here about betting by comparing sports betting and eSport betting.
As per my research, I found this article saying Sports betting market expected to reach $8 billion by 2025, so with that we already have an idea on how big the sports betting market is, while for eSport we have no idea yet.


Agree with you but it's better if we discuss it with comparison in figures, and there's no figure on eSport then sports betting rule in the competition.

eSport is getting the popularity especially for bettor since sports was cancelled during the pandemic, but in reality, we can't really say they can beat the sports betting industry because it's a big industry, it was already here before esports was introduce, so no way it will.

I think there's no need to compare with whichever will be the one that shall gather more bettors in the future. Both has their own edge and has a lot supporters, fans and bettors. I'm an esport fan and supporter and I can't have my bias on this topic. Because as we look at the traditional setting, we can't deny the fact that they have a lot of supporters and there's more to come for their industry as they took a break because of this pandemic.
