Well .. year-end holidays should be a fun time for everyone. But not for miners or Bitcoin investors. Because bitcoin prices fell quite hard, which is about 40% (more or less) in the middle of last week. although, in the second week of December 2017 Bitcoin has touched its highest level.
No reason to complain there: most miners or Bitcoin investors acquired their BTC from 2009 to November 2017 (look at market cap) and are very happy with a BTC/$ rate at least doubled.

hmm .. there are many reasons behind the fall of the Bitcoin exchange rate. however indirectly the holidays require everyone to spend more budget.
Sometimes for the sake of vacation, someone willing to sell the valuables he has. and apparently the user / owner of bitcoin did not escape it. it may be Christmas and New Year's holidays are also "push" bitcoin owners to sell bitcoin. Of course (maybe) this sale action takes place in considerable volume. If so, then the bitcoin supply increases, so if the supply increases, the price will decrease.
I thought, does not that make sense!

I saw the graph for previous years and I think this is a trend for crypto: small drop in price and activity (due to vocations) and growth later on...

Always happen every holiday season but I still think that this is a correction. Bitcoin are still falling, and I do hope that it will not go deeper than expected. Bitcoin is really great technology and people should realize this. Bitcoin will pump again in 2018 and go even higher.

So it is the Holiday season and it was Xmas. How many people dived into their Bitcoin hoard to buy Xmas gifts and also paid for a nice holiday with their family?

We saw a huge increase in the price, early in the season and this might have triggered a situation where people rewarded themselves with some "Gifts" for the holiday season.

The direct impact of that would have been a higher influx of coins onto the exchanges and if that was not met with a higher demand for coins, then it would explain the drop in the price.

Did you splash out with some expensive gifts and extravagant holidays with your bitcoins, during the holiday season?

I think that might be part of the case, i think the holidays slightly or in a minor scale
influence the drop of price. It reached a record high before Christmas then it suddenly
drop but it's gaining value now. People spend a lot on holidays, the sudden increased of
value on bitcoin might have triggered and convince some people to sell some coins to
spend on their holiday season, that was pure sweet profit by the way if you were the
lucky ones to sell. But maybe it's just a trend they are volatile and decentralized in
structure, In such a field, inflation and deflation are considered somewhat normal.

In my opinion, yes I think the Xmas and holiday season has the vast effect that caused of bitcoin drop its price.  Many bitcoin users want to buy the things they want to this holiday season so that they will sell their bitcoin or they will convert their bitcoin into real money and buy the stuff they want. Even I, I sell my bitcoin just to obtain some extra money and give my self a gift for all my hard work.

Well as for me, I didn't really dived into buying expensive gifts. I still hold some of my bitcoins. Also, the price dropped certainily because for sure many of us used their bitcoin for their needs and wants especially this holiday season. This happends every year though so the rate is just normal.

according to me, during Xmas and holiday season, people are busy to plan all that with their families. and possibly fewer trading, investment, and other trading activities. or maybe, during Xmas and holiday season, bitcoin is used as a reward, so there is a price drop.

If it's really the Holiday season which influences the prices, then the crypto market is really a huge bubble...

there were 7 btc correction this year and then there was great pump.we can say due to holiday ,price dump but it is exactly not true, due to sudden huge pump ,this dump was expected.and bitcoin tech is going old, people are using eth and ripple for their transaction.in future bitcoin price will grow but we can see less usage of bitcoin as transaction.

Maybe a lot of crypto traders want just to fix their income at the End of year. It is normal, price growed too quickly from 6k$ to 19k$. Take it as correction.

The holiday season has historically been a very quite time for Bitcoin too, because people are not making huge financial decisions at the end of a year. You might find that a lot of volume in trades will pick up to the beginning of 2018, when people return to work, with New Year resolutions to buy more Crypto currencies in the New Year.

Enjoy the Holidays and prepare for a cracking New Year.

Maybe that is the reason. Drops happen time by time. It recovers easily. Panic selling is the effect of these to some. I have experience doing that before and I regret it because just a couple of days, the value rise again.

There is a possibility that could happen, Christmas and holiday is the time to enjoy the time, I expect people will cashing out the profit from Bitcoin. And I'm sure in this time the cryptocurrencies market will not make a significant movement, it will be slow and stagnant movement due to many people have a break from trading to enjoy the holiday.

Maybe one of the reasons perhaps since many are selling their coins in order to convert to fiat for the holiday expenses and leisures. However, there's no need to panic for the dump because it will surely increases in 2018.

Yah I think most of people are thinking like this. We all know that Christmas is a big event for people and they want to celebrate this festival with great joy, so I think that is a major reason of dropping the price of Bitcoin. And the holidays are one of the important factors of Bitcoin price. But these all the temporary causes as we all know and from the dump of Bitcoin price, as these factors resolved the price of Bitcoin will rise automatically. So please don’t be panic and impatient to take the drop in price of Bitcoin, it just a little break.

I'm one of those people who withdraw some funds to reward myself a little for the holiday season. Based on the observations of my partner who has been investing in bitcoin for almost 4 years, he said that whenever Christmas day is nearing, the value of bitcoin gets low at some point

Yes i believe that the Christmas Holiday season have actually caused the drop in the price of Bitccoin. Bitcoin  have been appriciating before the christmas, and just before the celebration the price drop.

Yes. In my opinion too much selling of bitcoin in xmas and holiday season is the cause of drop down bitcoin price. Too many people selling bitcoin to observe gorgeously xmas and hoilday season. This is the main reason for dropping bitcoin price.

For me, yes holiday season, has a reason why bitcoin price drops down. Many people want to have some money to buy the things they want or give some Christmas gift to someone. The price drops down because many people are selling their bitcoin to obtain some cash, so the volume of seller become higher so the price of bitcoin decrease. That is the contrariwise of bitcoin’s increasing amount if some company or establishment announce that they will accept bitcoin, the bitcoin price is rapidly growing.  Smiley

I got your point.I really believe Christmas and New Year means a lot of spending too.We buy presents for everyone we loved and then spend for some palatable foods to be served on noche buenas. So i agree this could be one of the reasons why we experienced dumping one these holiday seasons or maybe just a price correction because we have experienced so much pumpings from the previous months.

Maybe yes. I do really think so that this consecutive holiday season during the month of December might be the major cause of the price drop of Bitcoin price and also the same thing applies with the alternate cryptocurrencies. Maybe because most of the people are now busy on their family hangouts and even family get away, the demands which causes the rise of the prices are somehow really affected with the holiday events because people are really busy on their stuffs and errands to be done and enjoying this season with their love ones.
