I use two wallets fist wallet is online wallet ( bloctrail) and The second wallet is offline wallet (vanitygen), remember never put the eggs on one basket always becareful with your money.

Yeah right, I personally use three different wallet is blockchain.info, electrum, and Coinbase then split my bitcoin. to avoid unwanted things. and most importantly do not store large amounts of funds in just one wallet providers especially in the exchanger wallet.
i dont see why people are actually using that much wallets i just have one wallet and it is definitely enough for me

I use a lot of my wallet to ensure privacy. because I believe in the existence of some wallet will make the money I have not seen by others.

you are indeed a true friend and very precise. Because I sometimes less comfortable against the wallet that I have, so I have to change or have some purses to make sure that money that I have perhaps safe from hackers. Because there are some cases which deals about the leaked bitcoin wallet or hacking exposed

It doesn't matter where you keep them in addresses I mean because if one bitcoin address could be hacked then all of them are at risk.
a wallet could contain so many address and wallet is definitely different with an address, and as you say if people are using various wallet but keeping the money in the same address or even using that address's privkey in various wallet,it's the same or i say such a useless effort

You know I still use a Xapo faucet, so I have a Xapo wallet.  It's a complete time-waster but I'm somewhat addicted to it.

All my coins are held on my phone.  My primary wallet is Mycelium, which is great and I have no complaints with.  I also downloaded that bitcoin wallet for Android which is very similar to the LTC, DOGE, and Dash wallets.  I don't know how good that one is, but I'm pretty happy with all of them.  I don't keep any coins on Xapo, because I don't trust them enough to do so.

I used to use the blockchain wallet but don't anymore, and also that inputs.io (?) wallet.  I'm staying away from web wallets.

People leave their phones on trains and buses and park benches all the time.  I'd suggest shifing some off of your phone to a more secure location and just keep some day-to-day funds there.  Buy all means keep a few BitCoins on your phone, but not all of them.  (Would you carry all your cash in your wallet?)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you keep all your bitcoins in one wallet, or do you use multiple providers/accounts?

I am currently using 3 different wallets, it kinda feels safer not to store everything in once place...

Thoughts?

Usually I use only one wallet when storing my unused bitcoin, but if you count those BTC  am trading, sure I use multiple exchanges wallet to store my Bitcoin for trading, well, we can't avoid it since if you are an active trarder you will have different exchanges to trade to and making it more wallet to store your bitcoin for intended trades.

I see that almost all the posters here do use multiple wallets to store their bitcoins.
I do understand the need in terms of security and the "don't put all your eggs in one basket" thingy but I still prefer to use one wallet only.
Why? Because I tried to use multiple wallets before and I must admit that I got confused.
Too many accounts with different passwords and passphrases and recovery emails. I never got used to that.
But however, I can say that it's okay for me to use one main wallet only because this wallet I used is based from my country.
I mean the support is easy. And I know where their office is. So, I think it's just okay.

You are not a gambler right?  Cheesy You will see why a lot of people here are also using many wallets for gambling purposes also. Some are for safety. A friend once told me "never use your main wallet for withdrawal or deposits in gambling sites" I think it is about the hacking issues also and to prevent knowing all profile about you.

Not only bitcoin wallets i prefer to use multiple exchanger also which is quite necessary to minimize the potential loss by the hacking event. Just like how many have lost their bitcoin in bitfinex hack yesterday.

Lately there have been a lot of hacking or just lies that they have been hacked. This will grow more if the price keep increasing. Seeing a lot of money in it, bad intentions will be there. We have to keep our money safe in our own ways. I am starting to get scared with my bitcoin wallet too. You dont know what could happen.

as for me, i use multiple wallets for many purpose, like xapo and coinbase for spendable amount since i dont controll the private key i think it will not safe if we're storing high amount out there.
The alternative is blockchain, info and for storing high amount i use paper wallet and it's for long term investment purpose.

Yes, I use multiple bitcoin wallets to store my bitcoins. I do it for a number of reasons. For one, it helps me keep track of/budget my coins. I have several online and offline wallets for savings/hodling, a wallet for miscellaneous spending, a wallet for gambling, a couple of wallets that I use for receiving payments from various sources, along with a few more wallets I keep for specific purposes.

Another a new experience I learned from you, the point is to break your amount into some partial and reserve some wallet with different purpose and usefulness. and it gives more level security if you getting a crime in once of your wallet.

Of course who doesn't now a days with all the wallets being hacked into.
It would be foolish not too!  Roll Eyes

Having multiple wallets is one thing. If you are worried about hackers, then you should point your focus at security of your computer and securing your wallet files with a strong passphrase. If you are really paranoid, then you can even choose to encrypt your wallet files on top of that.
