Aslong as you got enough money and patience it usually works alright, but for me with out the patience and the money it hasnt worked wonders  Cheesy
The enough money is usually infinite. It totally depends on the varience, whether you are going to hit a long streak within a period of time or not. In the long term, you should run out of money as the streak is probably going to be as long as 20-30.

Even with unlimited money, you can't kill a casino that uses the kelly criterion. You can simulate that with computers. (Casinos without limits is a different story)

With unlimited money you can buy the casino and then still kill it! Grin

Haha. Thinking outside of the box.

Still martingale never works. Not even in theory.

It may not work in theory, but could work out in practice... Wink

I made from 0.3 -> 5 BTC in 10 hours with martingale on PrimeDice.
It were so freakin crazy.. that "ride" raised my total wagered to 113 BTC.

Then I cashed out and lost it all back 3 weeks later..

My highest bet were around 1.25 BTC.

Martingale is always a losing strategy in the long-run.. if you don't have unlimited money supply.

If you have unlimited money supply, why would you need "More" money? You already have unlimited.

What about the thrill to ruin the casino? Grin

Do you know who runs the big casinos?

No, I don't. But surely it doesn't matter much for him who has an unlimited supply of money... Grin

It sure works.
If you have unlimited funds and casino has no bet limits.
Otherwise not for long, usually.

martingale dont not really work on long run.. just need to know when to stop and dont be greedy  Smiley

Agree, especially if you are willing to use martingale system in online casino, you can lost 20 more times in a row so don't even try It, and in a short run yes you can win so when you made some profit leave.

Yea, but in "theory" martingale would work if you have a unlimited money supply. But not on PrimeDice Tongue

Martingale only works if you have unlimited money AND no house limit. Since every reputable casino has a house limit, having infinite money isn't enough!

Also, no, even then, the expected value is still negaive.

Yea, but in "theory" martingale would work if you have a unlimited money supply.

It's really a mathematical question, but it wouldn't work "in theory". "In theory" if you had an unlimited money supply, then "in theory" your losing streaks could be infinitely long.

Martingale doesn't make the odds any better, nor do they make them any worse. The problem with it is it encourages you to divide up your bankroll into the smallest possible bits. That is bad because it makes it harder to accomplish a given objective (say to double your bankroll).

Just Dice had a martingale player win an unprecedented 32 times in a row. "In theory" those odds are comparable to winning the Mega Millions Jackpot. But he won less than 5 cents because he was playing martingale.
