These people really want trouble, their government is trying to do anything that they can and adopt anything that it can for them to step up. While their government has that vision through adopting bitcoin, there they are destroying things that have started to be built and installed by their government. Their government will act on this and surely will give them what they deserve as punishment, they are not forced to use bitcoin, they are still free to use bitcoin or USD at their will.

This incident really shocked me too. I understand that people don't have to like Bitcoin as their legal tender. But they should have shown this differently, not like this. I wonder what the government will do about this incident. It is important for them to act in the right way. Otherwise, they can cause other people to do similar things also. Their goal is to make people have an interest in using Bitcoin in the end.

I still don't understand why they don't like it, and they destroy it, is this really what people think.
It may be a bit harsh, but to me, those are actions that go against human development.
If we all think and act like this, I think we live in hell. But there are many conspiracy theories I've heard about wanting to control the market in some way, and this is also one of the things they do to control it.
I think their mood is a confusing and inexplicable space but at the most calm they also have no thoughts of destruction but the crowd is always targeted by enemies to provoke, perhaps these supporters have been ignited by an unknown person, causing schisms and unnecessary destruction, such action really does not represent a civilized attitude and the government can take advantage of that to demand compensation as well as discipline. Protest has many civilized ways and needs people to represent the voices of all, cannot be barbaric, and the government of EI Salvador should also listen and empathize
there is always a conspiracy of people with an interest in matters like this. those who feel aggrieved will find ways to thwart the progress that El Salvador has made. but I believe the ones that get the most impact are the traders who accept bitcoins. this will create fear for them. the government should provide safety guarantees for merchants who accept bitcoin and other crypto asset transactions.

If you don't like bitcoin, you can simply not use it and just continue using your preferred. Why need to cause damage?
This is where you will understand this is not just a role played by dollar supporters but the political opponent or the industries in which the Bitcoin implementation seems to disturb the greedy earning.
The last time I check no genuine citizen of a country that sees an innovative technology that put her country name on the headlines of every magazine world will plan to go against the technology.

Astounded by the amazing success of Bitcoin implementation in El Salvador, anti-social elements sponsored by the USD lobby have started vandalizing and destroying the Bitcoin ATMs installed by the government. The Bitcoin implementation has proceeded relatively smoothly and this has angered those who were expecting it to fail. I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.

I just don't get why people resort to such horrible things given that it doesn't really affect them at all. Why do these people even bother to cause such damages when in fact bitcoin didn't do anything bad to them? If they don't like bitcoin, they have the option to ignore it and not use it instead. After all, bitcoin as legal tender in El Salvador is just another alternative mode of payment. As far as I know, the citizens aren't really required or mandated to use it. So why waste energy on something that doesn't really affect you personally and basically not doing any harm to anyone? This is just so uncalled for.

I think these people are just insecure about bitcoin's potential. They fear that bitcoin will surpass the dollar so much that they went far as destroying bitcoin ATMs. People are just really pure of greed. When they see something that goes against them or to something they believe in so much, they destroy it before it even skyrockets. I just hope they will fight fair and square.

Excellent post, it shows how people are always opposing new laws, because of different motives.
Blaming everything on some reptilians or on them being stupid is just as ignorant, do you people think that if France or Belgium does the same there will be no protests? Or that all of them will be paid, protesters?
Quite ironic, in a forum full of paid signatures to start a topic someone of being paid for an idea, this while wearing a signature.

One more thing, all of you talk about the freedom to choose to get dollars, I've asked a lot of times about this but nobody really cared about answering or probably didn't know about it. Let's me show you the so-called freedom of choice you're bestowing upon those people. You can use the government app, which is not a wallet, you have no control over either your coins or your funds, go to an ATMS and withdraw cash with no fees. Nice, of course, it goes all against the idea of having control over your funds and not letting the government seize you, it goes against the whole idea that was discussed in the Cyrpus case, but, who cares about that. You are free to let all your coins and $ in the government hand.

I'm not hoping for much but if at least one realizes that at this point this whole crusade is the same as the communist take over, the one who opposes us is paid by the reptilians and Bilderberg and the now, the ones who don't understand this are stupid morons, we are right and we can't get it wrong. But a few % on the price probably is more important...

Who is exactly Arena and FMLN? The traditional parties that have ensured eternal poverty in El Salvador? The first calls themselves "Nationalist Republic" a "right wing" party founded by a General in 1981, the second is a joint of "left wing" communist and socialist parties typical of the of the 20th century.

And BOTH are marching against Bitcoin, but only because the current president is independent of these two. They probably don't know and don't care about Bitcoin, just that Bukele won the popular vote and now they "claim" that people don't want Bitcoin. Is it any surprise that those would resort to violence? That says A LOT of the kind of people this opposition is.

Unfortunately, the mainstream media around the world mostly write about how the people of El Salvador rebelled against Bitcoin, but it is very easy to conclude that this whole protest is completely politicized by the opposition political parties and their foreign masters. They thus want to collect political points, and use human ignorance and difficult life situation to manipulate them.

This is nothing new in the world of politics, only now the focus is on Bitcoin, which they are trying to present as something that will destroy the country and the people, and it all comes down to the personal choice of each individual.

This is what fear looks like.
The US dollar overlords have been angry and scared from the day El Salvador announced that they were going to accept bitcoin as legal tender reducing their reliance of USD.

They were also angry when Russia et al stopped trading oil with USD but of course, nobody sees public retaliation about this because they do not want to mess with Russia and the other countries, they're just targeting bitcoin because they think it's "weak" with no sovereign government to back it in the sense of military & defense.

Is there no one to stop them? There should be a law to protect these machines, and anyone who damages these machines should be punished. These will definitely be reported in the local news. If this matter is not handled properly, I feel that something like this will happen again. After all, these machines can be very helpful to people who like cryptocurrency.

I've seen loads of Bitcoin ATM theft pictures on reddit from years ago. I think this is just a robbery, someone thought it was a good idea to try steal the atm and make it give them BTC... and then just made everyone else think it was a dollar-supporter thing.

Which is of course nonsense because who on earth as a normal person actually supports the dollar when they have their own local currency?

<…> The government of El salvador can organize an enlightenment program to sensitive it's people on what bitcoin is all about it's pros and crons and why it should be embraced this might help reduce further damages
They are already doing it, through the Chivo Wallet information booths across the country (clearly not enough though: some 50 or so), through webminars (https://www.economia.gob.sv/eventos/lista/), the official website (https://www.chivowallet.com/), other official social media (https://twitter.com/chivowallet?lang=en, https://twitter.com/nayibbukele) and so forth.

Regardless, and despite a lot of the hassle being made by the opposition (who grab BTC as a line to try to diminish the government with), from what I’ve gathered so far, and being an outsider, I’m of the impression that they rushed things quite a bit, and deliberatively or not, omitted planning and deploying a proper large scale information campaign well before the Chivo ecosystem kick-off.

More damages would certainly errupt it's up to the government of El salvador to take drastic actions on this perpetrators, if they are scared of missing out or afraid this would affect their businesses. Suspicious as if someone pays them to do this. I mean if bitcoin is just an alternative currency for them to use then why would someone came up to do this without them being affected at all. Anyway, the government must take action to this kind of behavior because the rioters only want the government plan to fail and their reason is hate and nothing more.
This is very cruel and insensible. I agree on you that maybe someone is behind with this improper act. But come to think of it, are these citizens are very much affected having bitcoin as a legal tender? We all know that the USD dollar is still used in EL Salvador so they have nothing to be worried and be angry like that. I almost think that these people are against the governance of the current leader of the country so all they have to do is to keep ruining the president's advocacies. But there's no way that bitcoin be threatened like that seeing its adoption will eventually grow in the coming months and years.

Why do they have to do that? machines are just installed and working for humans so if they have problem then face those who put the machine at all because they are only showing how incompetent they are in managing their opponent.

They are very lucky having bitcoin machine that completely allowed by the government while in other places it has been illegally installed .

yes i admit that there are no complete consultation that happened before putting this as legal tender but they must admit that it has been applied and give it a chance to show how helpful .

The government needs to deal with those damaging public property fiercely to send a message.

Agreed! This is also what I was arguing about but someone told me that I was creating too much drama on what might occur. However, there it is! Pictures of similar scenes of what was see in the movies hehehe. It will not be shocking if there will be an attempt for the ouster of Bukele funded by the powerful bankers.

[Nope]No hype delivers more than hope
A form of excessive skepticism only for initial implementation that everyone knows will definitely need further refinement and reconstruction. My question is, have their attempts at refusal been going on since before bitcoin was legalized? I didn't see their protest in any news media before.

These people are against Bitcoin because they are against Bukele, they accuse him of corruption and believe that Bitcoin will be used for his corrupt deeds.

I agree on this, it makes more sense if the reason they become anarchic is because bitcoin is legalized in a country with a broken political situation.

LE ☮︎ Halving es la purga
The president of El Salvador has wanted to cover a lot and have control of everything related to the bitcoin environment, ATMs, wallets when he should have been a "orchestra director" and not wanting to play all the instruments.

That is objectionable but not definitive as a big mistake!

Now, that is not a reason for this outcome, so it is a montage of those who oppose the president not bitcoin because in reality the people who in the long run is the one who can truly stalk has the Salvadoran government in great acceptance, this president represents a social, economic and political change for El Salvador.

You have to go through its political history a bit to be able to criticize its present
and consequently the current president. El Salvador is one of those politically complex countries. To sum it up, these social excesses are the consequence manipulated by major political adversaries, this also includes bureaucratic mafias that have taken advantage of economic and political power for decades.

Anyway contrasting the current situation we can go to 2001.

This occurred at 2001 when the dollar became a legal currency:

translation of the source1
Quote
Do I pay you in dollars or in colonesFiat? 'a Salvadoran asks the cashier. "Better in colones because I still don't understand anything about dollars," cashier replies.
source: https://elpais.com/diario/2001/01/03/internacional/978476403_850215.html

Then they add this:

translation of the source2
Quote
...a majority fear dollarization will only "benefit the rich"
source: https://elpais.com/diario/2001/01/03/internacional/978476403_850215.html

In reference to ATMs:

translation of the source3
Quote
Hotels, restaurants... already have ads that inform about prices in the two legal tender currencies, and ATMs only allow withdrawals dollars.
source: https://elpais.com/diario/2001/01/03/internacional/978476403_850215.html

And a politician of the government:

translation of the source4
Quote
'The dollar is with us and it is here to stay
Juan José Daboud, technical secretary of the presidency.
source: https://elpais.com/diario/2001/01/03/internacional/978476403_850215.html

So...Things are not very different today ... the current reality is that there is a president who is imprisoning the corrupt and has stood up to the banks, businessmen, although it is true that he is exceeding "democratic" limits. And that it is going through authoritarian dyes, yes, it is in a gray area, but for now only story is who can judge him, if it was a true democrat or a sad hope "again" for the Salvadoran people and for all region.

And as always bitcoin is only a small part of all this, and in fact it is neither cause nor effect.

We can't deny that many rich people are getting rich by controlling fiat money or dollars that they could produce anytime, bitcoin spreading all around the world and getting it's hype should be threaten for them, probably the people who burn the ATM is not their own will but people ask them to do it.
As a crypto supporter we should keep being positive about anything happen with cryptocurrency and keep fighting with them who don't agree with cryptocurrency because they can no more controlling money if crypto is used worldwide

Fiat currency is designed in such a way, to enrich a select set of people. The governments decide who will get rich, since they control the output for fiat currency. That is not the case with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. The supply is limited and no central agency can decide on the volumes and distribution. So obviously if there is a direct competition between fiat currency and cryptocurrency, >90% of the people are going to chose the latter. Vandalism, like the one occurred in El Salvador recently is the sign that fiat supporters are losing their battle and are getting desperate.
