I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.
why so are we only going to allow them ?
but there should be authorities that are stopping those violators because in the end this is still a crime and they are destroying someones else priority or business and it will be scary if your going to use btc atms in public or buying in shops and you use btc because you might get attacked unexpectedly by a random strangers .
people will soon transact privately , we cant let the bad guys win .

Dollar means stability, at least in this narrow aspect of a stable purchasing power. In a country torn with chaos, stability is something people can be desperate to have, even if it's only about the price and nothing else. So some backlash to mass adoption of Bitcoin in El Salvador was expected. Add to that the fact that El Salvador has the highest murder rate in the world, and it doesn't seem surprising that this backlash results in violence. People there are largely poor and desperate, and a financial change like this might mean that they'll be better off, but can also mean that things will get even worse. Hopefully, though, there will be benefits of Bitcoin adoption, and that can ease the tensions.

As @stompix pointed out, the people themselves may have reason to dislike their president who has a lot of admirers in the Bitcoin world. Adopting Bitcoin as legal tender is a progressive move but the president will need a plan to make people realize the benefits or even to bring them those benefits.
Supporting this all the way , Because i see nothing but the government trying to Feed people the idea of Bitcoin will be helpful but did not let them decide for this as they are the one who will use it in case.

Government of EL salvador decide for their people's welfare but has no chance to ask them about what they really feel for this.
we may be Bias on this because we are crypto supporters but El Salvadorian needs explanation and understanding before letting this enters their daily living .

Those people are not a forum or a shitcoin discord/ Telegram. They are a real country with real problems and flipping a few NFTs for profit cannot be the answer for a whole country. It must be accepted that the people are probably too tech-illiterate to make good use of the opportunities with crypto.

Again agreed on this completely , they are different from our understanding and belief and also needs .

If this is meant to be a banking replacement for them, this should also be explicitly communicated. Launching a wallet and then airdropping everyone some Satoshis is a marketing move, not a long term plan. Have we heard of any long term vision from the president on how Bitcoin will benefit his impoverished nation?

That's also very true as it happens in every country when they hate the current president all its projects are going to be hated. Bukele's Bitcoin experiment has been hated even when they are benefitting from it. They should realize how lucky they are that their government has plans for their future and initiate this Bitcoin law. The people in other countries have to go through a long process to get their hand with BTC.

To the rallies we have seen on youtube about Anti Bitcoin in El Salvador, there are only less than 50 people who joined. How are they affected by the Bitcoin adoption, USD is not even forbidden in the country?

Astounded by the amazing success of Bitcoin implementation in El Salvador, anti-social elements sponsored by the USD lobby have started vandalizing and destroying the Bitcoin ATMs installed by the government. The Bitcoin implementation has proceeded relatively smoothly and this has angered those who were expecting it to fail. I don't expect them to stop with this. The next step may be rioters beating up anyone who is using Bitcoin and vandalizing shops that accept BTC as a payment mode.

They should not do those action because this has been a LAW now and admit it or not and thy can do anything about that.

Instead of letting this happen for at least a year and try the opportunity , yet this is what they are doing.
I think there is a team behind this that wanted to ruin what the government wanted to go for Good.

If this happens to my country? i will be the first to kick their asses for doing such.

If you don't like bitcoin, you can simply not use it and just continue using your preferred. Why need to cause damage? It's not like fiat users are going to be affected. Something's just so suspicious about this.

I think they are concerned that they could be affected. When a much higher number of people use Bitcoin and only few use fiat, they are skeptic that their fiat could loss value. But anyways, no matter the reason behind this, it is normal that a certain group of people will oppose it (not surprised)

Why need to cause damage?

If something is not as they like:
* Some people are fine to just ignore.
* Others will be booing.
* Others will start throwing stones.

We don't know who and what lies have told these guys about Bitcoin. I expect anything from being the tool of Satan to a tool of the enemies of their beloved country....

The amazing success of ATMs that were not even running and a wallet that was mostly offline.
And whoever protests against this is surely paid by the reptilians USD overlord.
Have you ever wondered if there might be some other problems there in Salvador?

The question is who are these anti-bitcoiners really? I would have understood if the war was Civilian Vs Government, but this is first time in history any government has listened to the civilians and put up the set up of bitcoin for them.

Really?
When did the people of Salvador demand for bitcoin to be legal tender? Was there a referendum for it?
No, it was a unilateral decision from Bukele, who saw this as a way to boost his popularity in the world.

But I just love it, when it comes to Bitcoin, it must be obedience, if people in Salvador would have smashed fiat ATMs everyone would be cheering for them, for their bravery against the regime. Interesting to see how people can twist their views on freedom and obedience and dictatorship for a few pennies.

Well, that's just absolutely stupid, and pretty much just shows how smooth the adoption of El Salvador's Bitcoin implementation is. I guess the next step of his plans should be to enlighten people to what actually Bitcoin is? Since destroying BTC ATM's does nothing to damage it's reputation, heck it only serves to show how some people are quite ignorant on what Bitcoin really is. Now if they did actually know, well that just makes them more stupid. Well hope he actually does something to the aggressive protestors, no matter what they say it is still government property at the end of the day.

It is normal for some people to resist change and also to go against the ruling government, because not all people support the ruling government. It is worst if those people see the President of the country as a dictator and as a result, go against anything that was decided by him and the ruling party.

The thing is..... El Salvador's economy are slowly sinking into a deep dark hole and the US Dollar (Fiat currency) are gradually losing it's value too. The President took a gamble on Bitcoin and it can backfire on him or he might be a national hero, if the Bitcoin price explodes and the Bitcoin holders wealth increase exponentially.  Wink

He is also saving people millions in Banking fees and remittance fees, if they are working abroad and sending money home.  Wink

It indicates that there will be a real consensus battle between the U.S. dollar and Bitcoin in the future. The battle for faith must be fierce, but it seems that the U.S. dollar will be more difficult. Bitcoin is developing step by step, like a small sapling slowly. Growing into a towering tree follows the path of nature. And the U.S. However the U.S. dollar........

According to: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-09-15/bitcoin-atm-burned-in-el-salvador-amid-anti-bukele-protests

"The demonstrations were largely peaceful though one group smashed windows and set fire to a Bitcoin ATM kiosk installed last month ahead of the cryptocurrency’s rollout as legal tender."

Whenever there are peaceful protests there are also some agressive idiots who end up vandalizing.

On the other hand:

"Several thousand people marched to the central plaza in the country’s capital of San Salvador, brandishing signs declaring “no to dictatorship” and “we were defrauded by Bitcoin.”

I think protesters were brainwashed because Bitcoin is far from dictatorship. The only thing is that commerces are obliged to accept Bitcoin now but they can instantly convert to USD so there is no dictatorship anywhere.

That's just deplorable, no matter how opposed you are, destruction of property and a public one at that is not the way to deliver your message, remember that the more you do this kind of stuff and disguise it as a way to send message, then you're just digging your own grave because you can't bring the point across if you deliver it in violence.

I assume that there are two possible case scenarios about this accident.
1.The vandals are paid by someone to do this.
2.The vandals are just a bunch of uneducated and delusional people, who think that Bitcoin is about to destroy their way of living, because they don't know how to use a computer or an ATM.
I don't understand Spanish. What does "bukele drogo narco cerote" mean?Does this have something to do with drugs and Latin American nacro cartels?Do they really think that Latin American narco cartels are using BTC?
This sounds ridiculous to me.

This news would totally slip off the news channels and the media because they don't care about the vandalization by USD supporters. Imagine the uproar, if some bitcoin supporter had destroyed a normal ATM. Media would have gas lighted bitcoin and bitcoin supporters.

This also shows the mentality of USD supporter vs. Bitcoin Supporters. USD supporters are focused more on controlling, tyranny and destroying everything that stops them from being on the top. Whereas, Bitcoin supporters are more supportive, accepting and would be willing to help each other grow.

Very heartbreaking, and a show that many El Salvadorians are still very misinformed/ignorant  about the new development the president is pushing, because if they did really understand why the country is trying to dump the USD and how this development can advance the entire country, i think they will have a rethink of these kind of attitude of retarding development.
I attribute this sort of behaviour to ignorance and misinformation.

It may also be the case of a few elites in the society who are not happy with the president on this and have started to engineer destruction and instigate violence.

Eh does this culture was really common in El Salvador? No one are going to help to save the Bitcoin ATMs and just record the vandalism? This is really bad, seems anyone are agree to damaging the public property. That's not how the protest works this is only make your country looks bad, if you want to protest you need to have a permits of the government, holding protest materials, etc.

Those anti-Bitcoin supporters should arrested and get warned from police, this is not a protest but much more like criminal.

I am not sure what's causing them so much hatred and who are they really? Seeing the bitcoin ATM around the town is still dream of many peeps and here we go one dam government does it for you and you go wreck everything off!

According to what they think and what they did to the bitcoin ATMs, if I hate the US dollar I have to attack the central bank and destroy the fiat ATMs, These ATM devices are bought by their money, and destroying the ATMs like that can hurt themselves indirectly. After any adoption, that's completely normal to see some people still defending the old traditional system, but there is a difference between destroying ATMs than this. On the other hand, I don't think if the El Salvador government forced anyone to use bitcoin. This is just a reaction of USD hardliners against bitcoin or there can be some organization behind this action.
