I wouldn't call it reducing to rubbles (and yes, I looked through the Reuters photos). There are damages indeed but they are rather local since we see windows with unbroken pane glass and nearby houses intact. Surely not what Grozniy looked like after it had been finally taken by the federals (let alone Stalingrad in 1943 or Berlin in 1945)...

Well... Maybe it will strengthen CPRF positions in the parliament and make Putin weaker... Because UR party is a source of his power.
Even during the 2011 elections, the UR could gather less than 50% of the votes. If they lose another 5-10%, then they might lose control of the parliament. (i.e if Just Russia does not support the UR).
BTW... according to the UN, 356 people have been killed so far.

Spells trouble for Putin. If KPRF supports aiding the rebels and Putin opposes it, then his popularity can go down. There was an opinion poll in Levada a few days ago, and more than 70% of the Russians were in favor of aiding the rebels.
The polls asked whether the Russian public favors military intervention in Ukraine or not. Not more than 40% were in favor. People know the human and economic cost associated with such an adventure.
