Hi, you had really nice discussion here, from Birdchain point of view, I just want to add several points.
1. There are several types of A2P SMS. Transactional and promotional SMS are the most popular, but not the only ones.
2.
The future of A2P SMS is Transactional messages. Codes, passwords, and notifications about bank transactions, bookings and so on. Because of the reasons Gamelander mentioned: "At the same time, all ages and social groups are open to SMS." I would add that SMS is platform-independent; network-independent; geographically independent; non-proprietary; app-independent (no need to have an app to communicate); does not require a data subscription (roaming scenarios for example); by far the most standardized messaging technology. And the best part is that
number of transactional messages is growing and will keep growing in the future.
3. I want to address the elephant in the room and say something obvious.
Promotional messages via SMS will die out eventually. As P2P texting was taken over by instant messaging, the same will happen with promotional SMS. Colours, longers text, stickers, images, gifs are way more convenient for marketing. Today IM has very little share of promotional texting market, because they do not provide API or does not allow sending promotional messages at all. But it will change in 5-10 years.
4.
We are getting ready for the disappearance of promotional SMS. That is why Birdchain app will be the instant messenger. It means that by developing Birdchain we are not simply solving today's problems of A2P SMS market. Are getting ready for the future. Please check our simulation app:
https://www.birdchain.io/download. As there are quite a lot of IM apps, our main advantage will be - rewards for sold SMS. Not one IM offers money for using it.
5. After we develop successful Birdchain A2P SMS service, we will start
working on new ways for people to earn and companies to reach existing and potential customers. For example, BIRD tokens for watching video ad, selling your minutes, selling your personal information, and so on. This was mentioned in our White paper
