Remember that we have a dedicated domain, dvcnode.org, whose purpose is to provide links to stable nodes, and that it does so by pointing the hostnames dvcstable01, dvcstable02 etc to such nodes.

I used to have three nodes on there, dvcstable01.dvcnode.org, dvcstable02.dvcnode.org, and dvcstable06.dvcnode.org, but then I lost my hosting and have so far only set up one new server with a new hosting-provider, so right now I only have dvcstable01.dvcnode.org up and running. I am happy with my new hosting provider though so am thinking of asking them if they can provide two more servers both independant, that is, located in different datacentres with different power sources etc so if one of their datacentres goes down the others should not.

I am wondering whether the other stable host names are still pointing to valid stable servers or not, as it seems like a long long time since I was last asked to update any of those hostnames.

I also wonder if those hostnames are still built into the source code, I think we used to have dvcstable01 through dvcstable10 hard-coded.

Since I seem to be seeing reports of recent wallets not being able to find any connections I am thinking hmm how come they cannot at least connect to dvcstable01 since as far as I know that host has been up reliably for a long time...

Thank you for the update ctya x I will wait patiently, sorry I seem to have jumped the gun a bit. Smiley

Also: Is a node something I can offer?

My understanding is that it is simply a computer connected to the network that verifies the blockchain? (excuse me if I have the lingo/terms wrong, I haven't looked this far into it before) Happy to help out if this will be any use, I have a computer connected 24/7

On Steemit, I signed up but am waiting to sort the wallet issue before I proceed.

An open, running wallet is a node. Nodes can leave and rejoin the network at will. Upon reconnection, a node downloads and verifies new blocks from other nodes to complete its local copy of the blockchain. Simply open a wallet on a computer connected to the internet and you have a node.

Develcuy, I was wondering if you could post the steps again for getting involved in your Steemit project. I'm hoping to start writing there again and it would be nice to get the boost, as well as give others a boost.

Also.... ctya, Unthinkingbit, I am trying to sync my wallet and it's getting hung up on block 319999, 7 days ago. This is the first issue I've had with this wallet recently. Do I need to upload different receiver files? Let me know ASAP as for all I know, I may be part of the problem.

Update: I shut down my wallet and then tried to restart it, and this time the error message I get is "failed to connect to best block." So... I officially have wallet problems. What should I do? The first thing I'll try is to download the entire block chain from the beginning, but I won't start that until tonight. Please let me know if there is anything else I should try first.

The wallet problems seem to be related to the most recent receiver file updates.

Not all of the receiver nodes have updated.

We need more nodes in the wallet.

I have issued a pull request for develcuy at the GitHub official repository.

Once the code changes are pulled in I should be able to compile a Windows wallet that should fix all of the syncing issues.

OK thanks. I'll keep checking in here for news of a wallet update. It definitely has been a while...

I am very confused, I have tried everything I can think of to get connected (I thought maybe it was a firewall issue or something similar?)

At the bottom of the wallet screen it says on the left:"No block source available" then on the right there are two little computers with a red x to indicate they are not connected and when I mouse-over it says: " 0 active connection(s) to the Devcoin network"

I left it running for 2 days thinking maybe it just needed time to find a connection but still no go Sad

If someone could help me I would be very grateful.

TIA

[Edit: Wallet Install]

Did a totally fresh install on my daughter's Windows 10 machine this morning (made sure to delete her hidden devcoin directory as well) and it seems to be hanging on week 340 or 349, forget which. Anyone else getting something similar?

Sorry for delay, receiver files updated on my server so should not be any syncing issues from my end and none experienced.

I've got all my receiver files moved to an http:// domain, so hopefully that is helping with the wallet syncing issues.

How is CoinsControl doing with its wallet updating?

That is good news Wiser.  Now we just need all of the receiver files on all of the hosts updated to point to the most recent peer list, including your new http:// location.

It should not be too much longer now before we are all up-to-date and the wallet is syncing from block 0 again.

I sent the url to Unthinkingbit and asked him to double check that it's working as expected. I had to learn how to use Filezilla, which wasn't too hard, but had a bit of a learning curve. Once he says it looks good, then I think we can get the info out to whoever needs it.

So, what is the status of Devcoin? I see it's not on CMC any more, still holding quite a large bag. Any plans to revive the project over what I see here?  BTW, my wallet is fully synced...

CTYA offered to be a file custodian, and I accepted. We don't need any more custodians at this time, if we need another one, I'll someone or I'll ask on this thread.

What is stopping the listing on coinscontrol? Anything I can help host, update, fix ?

Coinscontrol has errors with the Devcoin wallet.  The wallet does not sync due to receiver file problems.

The receiver files have been updated to correct a few of the problems but some other problems remain.

Unthinkingbit is the point of contact for receiver file hosts.

Develcuy has also been very helpful with source code expertise.

I will let you know as soon as I have more information.
