An hour with the miners turned off.  That would be one nervous hour!!

As in worrying if they would start again? Why wouldn't they?

They aren't a life support system. HA!

Mine have been turned off for most of April. Earth month for me.. oh wait, this was only due to technical difficulties over the whole operation.

I applaud your Earth month efforts...oh wait, I hope you fix the technical difficulties.

This Earth, she needs a warmin'.
I just need time. Until I get this sorted, I'm saving a lot of electricity.

On that note, do you have some idea how long it takes them to cool to ambient temperature?

For example, are they at ambient after 15 minutes, or is that just a short break? Conversely, are they at ambient after 5 minutes, and you give them 10 extra minutes?

Summer is coming, so I would be interested in your experience.
I was able to measure the heat dissipation of a room by measuring the change in temperature after leaving 120W of lighting on. For that I assumed the temperature outside the room was stable (kept at 20°C by a thermostat in the winter).

If turning the the equipment off for 15  minutes every 3 hours helps, I would just underclock the machine by ~8% It would save on heating/cooling cycles.

Given the open build of these things, do you think the cycles matter that much?

Are the chips that frageelay?

Our country weather is very hot. To save my mining units i switch off 15 minutes for every 2-4 hours.

Its worth saying that not all crypto coins require mining like bitcoin does.  So if you wanted to own a coin or operate a network without using up alot of electricity or resources you could decide to opt for proof of stake rather then proof of work which btc uses to great expense.

Im not certain mining is essential, if not then this could be the ultimate saving.  I apologise if this is sacrilegious :p

Ah, okay, it's a heat issue. I would have been really surprised if it were an Earth hour issue. HA!
