Earth hour is not only retarded but also dangerous. It makes people psychologically think they have actually made their part in saving environment just by closing lights for an hour. That may keep them from doing something that actually helps environment and most importantly from politically addressing the problem...

Yep, that's the way this crap always works.

Somebody has done precisely nothing, but they have shown other people how much they care. That way, they can pat themselves on the back for doing something, and then they don't do anything of any real value.

I'll say an extra hippie tree hugger pray to Mother Earth instead. My miners will be hashing full steam ahead.

Not only that, electricity can't be stored.

If big amount is not used by the distribution network its simply lost/wasted.

Energy can be stored. The catch is that power storage plants must cost at least as much as an equivalent generator (since they need to go into generation mode to return power to the grid).

One example in sevice.

Ironically, Nuclear power needs power storage almost as much as solar/wind energy. (Nuclear power can supply the "base load" while other plants spin-down off-peak.)

No as the real solution is very simple.  Only have oral sex  for the next 10 years.

If  100%  of us committed to this idea.

It would stop the major problem which is too many people and not enough resources.

Not only pain free it would feel good.. for both  you and your loved one.

Not 1 single F**k, Earth hour is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of.  Our fractional banking and need for constant consumer spending to feed the beast is what drives the destruction of this planet.  Fracking for example... the presuit of profit with zero regard for anything.  The banksters should all be hung.

A total farce.

Candles create more CO2 than it takes to power a comparative sized light-bulb.

More bullshit from the climate change loonies..

I used to turn off all the lights and play board games by a 6W flood-light. Then I calculated that recharging the batteries at 4W for 14 hours uses about the same amount of energy as drawing 60W for an hour Tongue

There is obvious clash of minds here. Bitcoin is beeing mined by people having a LOT of mining power, read, they have money, and by mining, they want even more money, so they can not afford them selves to stop mining. There is also link with the value ->if you don't mine fast, your equipment will get old and useless, so it's not gonna be profitable. Mining is aimed to be set 24/7, so earth hour and every other B.S. is not gonna work here.

Humans certainly are having an impact on the planet.
We divide natural habitats with hot black stinky roads with death machines whizzing thru all hours of the day.
We induce disease in other species thru radiation, chemicals, capture and corn-feeding.
We de-forest, pollute water, desertify, and replace nature with concrete.

How will we solve this?!?

1. Earth hour.
2.  Huh
3. World peace and perfect harmony with nature.

"We" = big greedy companies NOT common people like me ! I don't have a big bank account or I don't drive a Porsche !

See I did things differently from anyone here.

I spent a good day tweaking and under volting all my cards on that day.
Saving a big chunk of power, so on Earth hour I did partially participate

Beware enviro-mentalists!

Hitler was an environmentalist...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_welfare_in_Nazi_Germany

...and he managed to kill millions...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_Holocaust

...which sure helped reduce man made CO2... the air humans breathe out!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breathing

do they want a breathing tax or depopulation? Both thoughts scare me!

I mine Bitcoin to give humanity the choice to be free from debt backed money (bondage/slavery).

I think that is a noble cause worthy of a bit of electricity. I might be a dreamer, but I'm not the only one..
