SegWit addresses don't safe on fees when receiving transactions, the savings happen when you make a payment from a SegWit address.

When sending to a P2PKH the pk_script is:
Code:
OP_DUP OP_HASH160 Size PubKey_hash OP_EQUALVERIFY OP_CHECKSIG
bytes: 1 + 1 + 1 + 20 + 1 + 1 = 25

When sending to a Bech32 address the pk_script is:
Code:
OP_0 Size PubKey_hash
bytes: 1 +1 + 20 = 22

paying ~58 people with Bech32 means 174 bytes smaller Cheesy

Loyce is referring to the legacy address that pays us from DarkStar_. That's why the fee won't fall due directly to it being bech32.

Also @DarkStar_ do you know if you can convert your address with the 1Chip in it to a bech address or a non-native segwit address and then it won't have too many issues if people pay to exchanges (as most exchanges don't support native segwit).

pooya87 pointed out that the output script of a bech32 is slightly smaller than legacy, which saves a few bytes, per output. So yes, I do save a few satoshi on fees by sending to bech32, but nothing really noticeable. I have talked to ChipMixer about switching to a segwit address, but they didn't say anything about it.

Since the former signature campaign, in which I was more than a year a part of, closed it doors yesterday I am looking for a new campaign.
I know this campaign doesn't have any places left, but maybe there exists some kind of watchlist for potential future participants.
I'm part of this community since 2014, have participated in many signature campaigns over the last 3 years and never had any problems or complaints with anyone.
Thanks in advance.

You could probably use it as a "Like". It looks like theymos wants the bar lowered for posts that should get a merit:

@DooMAD
If they're really not adding anything, then they shouldn't get merit. But it doesn't need to be mind-blowing, either. Someone suggested a feature where all umerited posts would be hidden (which I may do at some point) -- I think that it'd be good to look at it as asking what posts you would want in such a summary. So not just incredible posts which might've taken an hour or more to write (those should probably get 10+ merit), but also the questions, arguments, jokes, etc. which couldn't be removed from a thread without starting to lobotomize it.

It's all very new, of course, so maybe this strategy will not actually be the best, but it is what I had in mind when designing the system.

@TMAN, I have been adding sources, and I will continue.

It think you used Merits as a "Like", but that's not how it's supposed to be used:

It doesn't specifically say that you MUST use it in that exact way -- there are more examples of this happening. I however understand the point and will refrain from doing so from now on. I'll save the merits for worthy posts as reward for contribution.

Received. I gave you 1 merit, and I see jackg did the same -- does this mean that we both are a confirmed alt of you?
It think you used Merits as a "Like", but that's not how it's supposed to be used:
I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
~
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.
Please try to merit posts that other people might find interesting, since top-merited posts show up on the stats.

Also, now people have been shifting to SegWit addresses, what is the direct (positive) result that you noticed?
Bitcoin fees went down already, although I don't think there is a direct relationship. Three weeks ago DarkStar_ paid $188 fee, today $5. SegWit addresses don't safe on fees when receiving transactions, the savings happen when you make a payment from a SegWit address.
