ETC is gaining serious traction. It makes sense to hold some of it
ETC is open to double spend replay attacks and is barely mined so is highly unsupported and insecure. It's also about to suffer a serious 51% attack. Gud luck with that coinage.

And this is supposed to endear the community to ETH investors how exactly? The fact they can roll back the clock in pursuit of their precious investments and then blow the opposition out of the water at will?

Good luck putting that on a flyer. It's over.

What will happen is those with the free ETC tokens won't be in a rush to cash them out - after all, they were free right?  So they will sit on them and HODL, giving them some value.

While some are holding the line on their new ETC, a few other speculators might defect or decide to jump into ETC... Even if for the lulz.  Eventually the trickle of bloody ETH going into ETC is gonna become a full blown epidemic as everyone starts a rush to cash out of the larger sibling and into the one that is growing non-stop.

I think ETC is gonna be a run away train, and I'm on board to the tune of a few bitcoins.  Minimum situation?  The two reach parity - one way or another.  After that it's anyone's guess what happens.

and the beautiful part is there is a direct ETC/ETH pair keeping a constant beat ... if ETC even retains 5-cent to the $ETH ... game over ... you'll have volatility and uncertainy-ness for months ... so much for the much boasted 'successful' fork ... consensus ... they keep using that word but I am not sure if camp ETH knows what that word means ... unless they intended to tear their baby into 2 parts Wink

That hardfork is another great example after the DAO drama how not to act if you do not have an overall consensus.
This is going to become very interesting the next days.Eth already down 10%.
And mining ETC seems to be much more profitable at the moment for miners.I read that more people are going to switch mining ETC due to the easy money they can make at the moment.ETC's hashrate is going up!

sweeeet!

Is the new Ethereum still vulnerable to the exploit of the attacker? I asked this question before but I did not get an answer.

Wait, I have also noticed that there is a ETH/ETC listed in Poloniex. So let me ask does this mean that the attacker can buy ETH with his ETC and then dump ETH to buy BTC? The attacker maybe hates Vitalik and is out to destroy Ethereum but will leave Ethereum classic alone. Could that be a possible scenario?

Minimum situation?  The two reach parity - one way or another.  After that it's anyone's guess what happens.

That is not the minimum situation, the minimum situation is the the ETC bubble has already popped and is on it's way down to zero.

Unless someone picks it up and runs with ETC, I don't see that it has any value.  ETH has value because people will build on it, the devs will be working on ETH. ETC is just for p&d.

What's stopping other devs to stay with ETC and implement anything they want the other group of devs is building for Eth?
It's open source buddy!!

Can i send ethc with the newest Mist wallet, without affecting the eth hard fork coins?

You need to split your eth from etc. Do some reading, before doing this, as you may sell both eth and etc at the same time.

holy sheeeyit. the plot just got about five million times thicker. i'm not gonna pretend to understand all of the implications, but i do know that your average poloniex trader doesn't either. i'm totally fascinated to see how this pans out.
