It was monumentally foolish to have forked. They should have just igniored the hack and carried on. But greedy ETH and DAO holders wanted their quick bailout, but of course their ETH are worth less now, so it has solved nothing except cheapen and embroil the network in nonsense IMO.

Well, I guess eth prices dropped somewhat, but I think eth will not be easy to end. viewed from any side, eth still has a high price, although very much a new coin that has a strong potential to compete with eth, like etc. even though it was very good, but I guess etc 0.01 BTC will not be rewarded in the near future

I still think ETH & ETC for that matter is flawed, its the same coin with the same programming flaws. It's just a question of time until another DAO fiasco happens, remember nothing was fixed in the hardfork, the same bugs still remain.

Its a big mess right now, and investors are too stupid to realize this.

I heard that Ethereum programming language is Turing Complete. So it is difficult to program bug free.

Vitalik Buterin on Twitter: "I am working 100% on ETH." So the game is not over.

https://twitter.com/VitalikButerin/status/760232885483806720

Many other developers also said they are 100% on the ETH. Does it mean not many people will support ETC?

That is right. The ETH hash has risen.

Will the white hat hacker return the 7.2 million of ETC to the DAO holders? Is there any plan for that?

no one said anything about him being a white hat. I think it's safe to assume he's anti eth so he might get behind etc somehow to throw a spanner in the works.

The white hat hackers are the ones that emptied the rest of the DAO to rescue it from attackers. The original DAO thief only took about 1/3 of the DAO ETH. Supposedly the white hat hackers (the entire ETH community were calling them that) included at least one member of the ETH foundation. They claimed to be ethical folks and as such should be working on a plan to return the other 2/3 DAO ETH worth millions of dollars.

If they don't it would be a bigger theft than the original hacker accomplished.

I think they will return the 7.2 million ETC to the original owners. But the owners might dump the ETC.

My advice to ETH holders and its my sincere advice is to hold on at this point, I'v seen many alt coins in the past get picked up by new devs and rise from the ahses, looking at the tanked price and reading everyone's comments, it cant get worse than it is.

huh? considering all the insanity that's happened and is continuing to happen eth seems to be doing pretty damn well. I don't have a single clue why though.

thats a very risky decision to hold more but if you can risk to lose why it can't be? But seems the eth price for today's survive and looking good for now as you can see om some big exchange eth having a good bounce back even though they are been on horrible state when they suffer some attacks, and since eth doing good now i dont doubt that investors will slowly regain their trust to this coin again. And theirs no doubt that eth will be rock again this time.

This is all so familiar from the Bitcoin and Litecoin thing that happened last year that this whole thread has actually been sickening to read. My advice to ETH holders and its my sincere advice is to hold on at this point, I'v seen many alt coins in the past get picked up by new devs and rise from the ahses, looking at the tanked price and reading everyone's comments, it cant get worse than it is, so you can either get your pennies that you have left out and take what you have or call it all a loss and just leave it in there. I am being 100% honest when I tell you I have a friend who to this day has never sold one of his original BTC from his original stack, every crash and every climb he goes about life, if you truly believe in something give it the chance. I for one sold these coins to take a vacation a while back and now I'm f&^%ng glad I did, but the few hundred dollars I have left in them I'm leaving. Cest la vie, they are worth nothing now anyways, might as well hope for the best. Look for good investments don't wast your time kicking yourself for bad ones

The old chain does not have a hacker or a group of thieves owning a large number of the Ethereums.

until enough trading takes place, and I guess that's happening now, etc has identical owners with the exclusion of those who weren't refunded and addition of the dao attacker.

Will the white hat hacker return the 7.2 million of ETC to the DAO holders? Is there any plan for that?
