By the end of 2018, I'd say yes, very strong possibility. It is always difficult to predict cyrpto, especially far in advance... but look at how Eth has moved in price this year, look at ongoing developments and future plans. Eth is as a good a bet as any other, and far far better than most.

well if Bitcoin reached 8000 dollars, and BCH reached 1800 dollars anything is possible with the cryptos, especially ethereum. It makes a lot of sense to reach 1000 dollars very soon

No doubt Ethereum has showed a significant rise couple of days and everyone is expecting high jumps from Ethereum, but I think Eteherum will go down in December due to Bitcoin Fork and that time will be best to buy Ethereum. In Jan 2018, it will try to increase again and yes I am very hopeful that Ethereum will reach $ 1000 by the end of 2018. But in Jan 2018, I don't think it will reach to $ 1000.

Near 500 is going to be a psychological barrier for many, and a lot of people will sell at that point or near it, possibly even some whales. So I expect a correction back to the low 400's. After that maybe some other whales will jump in and push the price back to ATH. If bch phenomenon is applied we will see 1k.

people are going crazy for ether these days, though ether still have a lot of challenges. First of all is mist - it is almost impossible to sync blocchain for non computer geeks. Personally i doubt 2000$ within next 2 years.

Yup, there's a chance that this prediction may happen in that time with the current movement of value. If I don't have any needs, I'll hold my Ethereum until next year however I needed some money and I sold them at $360. So my suggestion is instead of holding it until Jan 2018 why not until mid year of 2018? I'll assure you, you will not regret it.

It is hard to give such specific timing. I believe it will reach minimum 800 USD in the next 2-3 month.

Reaching $1000 has got lots of possibilities. With the ongoing price increase it can happen anytime soon or within months. Already it has surpassed the $450 mark and getting closer to the $500 mark. Though the price of bitcoin seems to be far away from $1000, speculations give the surety of reaching the same.

Why would reaching 500 (not even sure if it would reach that this year) lead to a 1000 dollar price in jan/feb? If anything it would dump after reaching 500.
