Yes, Ethereum is the best coin for investment. Since Ethereum 2 is a coin after BTC. Therefore, I advise you to use this coin for investment.
Why stay away ? You can buy ETH and hold it for long time. Just thing you forgot that you have ETH.

It is very possible to achieve that.
For me at this point, ethereum is a good altcoin and you should buy and hold as long term investment, because it becoming more popular everyday and it keep growing gradually. 
Ethereum is a good alt to keep or hold for a long period of time. Majority of the ICOs out there are developed using Ethereum so why doubt if Ethereum is good for long term. As long as there are new ICOs coming out and they use Ethereum smart contracts Ethereum is a good investment.
For me it's the best alt so far. They managed to tie up the users to ETH by proving the basis for many ICO projects, what iny opinion is the next step in establishing crypto and blockchain as something that is here for a very long time
the eth coin as a good potential almost all ico are using ether , can increase to 700$ within end of 2018 i think, so little by little buy the dips the coming months this is my advice

I've seen a lot of posts positive and negative about Ethereum.
At the moment I am holding Bitcoins, but I have invested in some Ether as well.
Now I am wondering, what are legitimate concerns about Ether (except for IPO, as I've already read this in a lot of posts).
So can anyone bring real other issues to the table, to enlighten me (and maybe a lot of other readers?)

There is no real issue unless Ethereum has to compete and share the market with other potential Altcoin. I've seen a lot of posts positive and negative about Ethereum.

the price of ethereum is undoubtedly, many people believe that ethereum can be a substitute for bitcoin, but still be careful to invest too much because the more investment you make the greater the risk you will get
It is a good altcoin because I've made a lot of money from ETH.
The fact you got in early and made money has nothing to do with future price action. I think the money has already been made on Ether during the pump and the future is uncertain. Price has to get past .0372 on Poloniex before I would consider going long again.
