ethereum follow a set of rules allowing developers to accurately predict interaction between tokens. These rules include how the tokens are transferred between addresses and how data within each token is accessed. thats why many new token use its technology to raise its fund. soon it will get stabalized and rech many new heights

also if the project has a token connected to ERC-20 they can easily do the transfer of token back to investors same as the address they used to send the investment fund.
