Hashrate is taking a HUGE jump today  Shocked Its reporting 2900 mh so a maybe a new farm went online or upgrades completed on a old one.

I have my hardware paid for now and ive been slowly ordering some parts to build a new budget rig, just mobo, cables and stuff I have extra cpu's and psu's.  But im starting to reconsider if I should really jump in with some new gpus the way difficulty is going.  In a month there might be very very little profit if this trend continues, say in a month we hit 4'000 gh then the profit will be slim and from there how much further will the hash get pushed.

For the 1070, if we can do some dual mining, use both the Core and memory bandwith, that will be good.

Yes, I have two mining rigs on my balcony. The electricy cost is around 7 Euro per day, the total turnout is currently around 11 Euro a day. But that's only possible due to the very high Ether value.

So when the good graphics cards come out next month, there is no point of buying them as the difficulty is too high.

It's very iffy to even buy used cards NOW just for Ethereum - even the more efficient options might not manage to ROI.

Now, if you have other uses for those cards after Ethereum gets to be unprofitable for you, or when it goes PoS, THEN it might be worth buying them and mining with them for a while first.

I just wish I could get my HD 7870 working on Ethereum - trying one last possibility tonight, but so far it's looking to be giving me the same complaints at the same places.

 (Edit)

Eueka, I found the clue I needed, now hashing with my 7870 FINALLY!

Turns out I didn't have enough SYSTEM ram.
2 Gig wasn't QUITE enough, 4 Gig is working.

Sadly, I'm not seeing anywhere near the "reported" hashrates on other folks 7870s - but I suspect that is the "gradual deterioration in hashrate as the DAG files get bigger" issue at work, 12 Mhash at about 100 watts card usage isn't TOO shabby though.

One thing I have figured out, this card is VERY VERY picky about memory speed setting - too high is actually WORSE than too low, optimal is just a hair above "stock" at which point it's all about the core clock. Dunno if that applies to all 7870s or just certain models though.

at present if one 1070 can do 12.5 MH and consume only 30w, this is fucking profitable, i would invest immediately

it consume 5 euro against a 25 euro earning per month, if they can maitain that ratio with a boost in the hash, genoil can work on it i think, it would be amazing

If it can do 12.5 MH with 30W, I will not buy it. The proportion of the system power overhead is too high.

Hello guys....i got question about ethereum ...

1) What do i need for PoS mining rig?    (RIP GPU for PoS)

2) Will ethereum use the PoW after the launch of PoS ?

( I currently mining Ethereum than trade to Bitcoin then sell it with USD every month...so i afraid if PoS will give me problem because i heard a news the PoS require me to Hold the Coins to gain coins)

3) Is there any other coins that use GPU to mine which will gave me profit like Ethereum?

pos is not meant to be mined with gpu or asic or anything, it use no eenergy and your hash is your balance, unless it is done liek decred...

Well,it's only worth it if you only need the vid cards.I already had 3 PCs sitting around gathering dust from the GPU BTC mining days with 1 7970  Grin

Just needed one card (got a 380 on sale) & gettin ready to get another  Cool

I found out about that minimum 4gig ram thing the hard way too  Cheesy

the average diff is higher than before, now 2.5 against 2 in the past, but there is still enough profit, if you have cheap electricity i keep mining this until it dry off

The problem is that for most people in Europe, the electricity price is too high. If the difficulty double, no profit.

If those farms are based in the remote China like the bitcoin farms, then the heating is not a  big problem.

A hot summer could possibly provide some salvation if those farms have to throttle down on their mining activities, I think some of the numbers could be some variance in the hash rate.  I would be happy if we could chill at the current numbers for a bit, the increase has been slowing down a lot.  Eventually the farms have to stop growing and wait to catch up on ROI, hopefully we are in that phase now or wont see crazy increases like the past 2 months.

The difficulty has resumed its upward trend. It is a new all time high of 34.9T. When the new efficient GPU cards come out, it will be even higher.

If the difficulty doubles again from here, most people in Europe and California will not be profitable in mining.

...and then the difficulty drops hurray!

I just watch the Youtube video of Genesis Mining farm. They added a lot of GPU in the past. That could be the reason of the big rise.

Ethereum mining is still profitable for most of us. It seems there is a pause of the difficulty rise at the moment.
