To be honest I'm very disappointed with ETH position on the market at this time, as many analysts predicted it to be the year of Ethereum. And I hoped it would overtake Bitcoin, but the process is not that quick. Besides, many other promising blockchains appear to be the opponents to ETH.
In the next year ETH will overtake BTC as the number 1 cryptocurrency. I would unload your bitcoin while you still can.
I suppose, if there really are no adjustments from bitcoin. ETH will not be able to overcome the value and impact of bitcoin in the next few years. Like a contrast, bitcoin values have a huge impact on their marketability of crypto. This is beneficial and disadvantageous for investors. But that is the thing that always exists and we need to accept it.
Ethereum at least can not beat bitcoin because it does not have such support in the press as the latter. This coin is more popular among the community, than among ordinary people.

I acknowledge that ETH is potential in the future to succeed as bitcoin and prove their worth in the international community. However, to pass bitcoin. I think not the next few years. Bitcoin is a unconquered leader of cryptocurrency world. So it is much better to invest in Bitcoin I think. This currency occupy more than a half of the market, it has great infrastructure and competitive technology.
I changed my opinion about Ethereum. I think soon ETH position will be reduced or, maybe, it will be replaced by one of the perspective blockchain platforms like EOS, Cardano or ICON, which based on the next level technology and doesn't has a problems with scalability. As for BTC - it will only improve positions.

Things happen quite fast in the digital world. If Ethereum manages to overtake Bitcoin, that is going to happen within the next 1 to 3 years. Because if it fails to do so, then Ethereum will lose its relevance and will be replaced by some other altcoin with better technology.
Anything can happen, I know that ethereum has potential to overcome Bitcoins. I think this can happen anytime in the future. It will be possible in my opinion as ETH reach the currency that already raised a lot of transaction in the crypto. But for me ETH does not seem to ever go beyond bitcoin as an investment. I don't think that the ETH will takeover BTC as the number 1 crypto because the two coins are now blooming and most of the people are investing in ETH and BTC so I don't agree with it. It will also happen if no one will invest or no one will use the coin. The value of the BTC in the market is getting high so I don't think it will happen.
Bitcoin is preparing a new system of transactions that will be beneficial only for entrepreneurs or those people who make payments to the same wallets. As far as we know, instead of the Commission it will be necessary to pay for the opening and closing of the channel between wallets. This is really an ankward situation because deep down inside my heart i want both of them developing without any troubles.
But if Etherum want to surpass Bitcoin ,it means Bitcoin will have to fall so deep and could be disappeared and that's not a good thing at all.

That might happen. Because the laws of digital currency can never be predicted. So we will never know what will happen between bitcoin and ethereum later on.

I know it would not change the crypto if bitcoin will be replace because that money coming from bitcoin will certainly be transferred. For me, it does not matter if bitcoin will not be the number 1 as long as the entire market is progressive, in the end it's good to see the entire market growing.

I must say this that I don't believe it will be possible. Bit coin is currently most valued and trusted cryptocurrency out there. If the will happen that will not be next year, maybe let's look at a decade.
