I'm not saying it's impossible, but what I think is that it will not happen soon. Bitcoin is still the leading cryptocurrency and still increase its value very quickly, then I think it will remain on for some time. BITCOIN IS KING.
If bitcoin stays on it's price maybe Ethereum will go up eventually price are pretty good and the marketcap itself are almost quite of on bitcoin marketcap, time to buy some Ethereum we could see a good price later on.
Although bitcoin is better at storing value than Ethereum, at least for now, Ether has quickly become a preferred method for transferring wealth to and from people and entities.
In my own point of veiw and bases on the current situation right now. It will be impossible for the company of ethereum ro overtake bitcoin because there is a huge gap between the two; from its prices it is impossible to reach more than twenty thousand dollars in just a short period of time.
may be because anything can happen in cryptocurrency world. BTC is number 1 and has high value. i dont think so ETH will overtake BTC because BTC is the king of altcoins.
I just assume Ethereum as altcoin very successful among other altcoin. Until now I have not seen any other altcoin that can beat Ethereum. And I think to overtake the bitcoin it is very unlikely to happen. Bitcoin is the first very popular cryptocurrency and has a high value. If Ethereum wants to overtake bitcoin at least be able to beat the value and popularity first.
ETH might take a hit if some of the ETH based tokens collapse in the next months.
But ETH has some nice projects coming online shortly, specially the migration to PoS.
If that shift happens smoothly, it might trigger a serious ETH pump. Will it be enough the beat BTC? Hardly, but it might close the gap and create a fierce competition.

In my opinion Ethereum will going to steady top 2 altcoins.But not takeover Bitcoin.Ethereum has many supporters and investors nowadays but bitcoin is the father of Currency.
I think for me it is possible, ethereum coins is much stable in market compare to bitcoin, Bitcoin lately is more on going down IMO 
when bitcoin is down eth also down so for me it impossible for eth to overcome the bitcoin , it is seems like eth is the tail of bitcoin the whenever bitcoin will go eth also do that so when the movement is always like that eth wont lead bitcoin .

and also when bitcoin dropping its price the eth price also dropping therefore it is not easy for the eth to overtaken the bitcoin when it comes to price , and also bitcoin is still popular at this days at as what youve said it is the mother of all coin .

Having both etherium and bitcoin is actually a good investment. Many people says that etherium will take over in the following years. But, if you try to consider its value, everytime Bitcoin drops, so does with etherium. So, taking it place would require time and demand from the community.
yes, both is great for the longterm investment. but I do not think that eth will overtake of bitcoin in the future

kriptocurrency for now I prefer btc because of its limited number, and has a high value and become a reference altcoinyang other. but etherium can not be underestimated, because he also has other advantages ,, I think both are good.

I think that this is a very possible scenario. The ethereum has great potential. If the capitalization of the ethereum becomes the largest than capitalization of bitcoin, then I will not be surprised.
I don't believe that ethereum will overtake bitcoin.bitcoin is only coin which is most important coin. Bitcoin and Ethereum are two good coins and a lot of devotees.Bitcoin are popular and has good demand also people have more trust in Bitcoins.its value increases day by day and give more profit.
