Ukraine became the only team that needed to step out of the tournament even getting 4 points because they were 4th with those 4 points. Every other third position with 3 and 4 points were sent to the knockouts except for hungary who were left behind due to goal difference.

Most of those knockouts feels like easy to predict. But nothing can be said certain specially on knockouts. France vs Belgium is the most high level competition and one of them is sure to exit early.

These are the results of the games played today:

Georgia 2-0 Portugal


Netherlands, Georgia, Slovakia and Slovenia managed to get through by being the best four 3rd placed teams. I will post the final group tables when I get a chance but here is the draw for the round of 16 games:

I was really nervous in our match against Czechia today. Even though Czechia got an early red card things weren't still in our complete control. Our scoring the first goal relieved me a little but that equalizer was sad. I think that was a foul to the goalkeeper but VAR didn't disallow it. We needed to get 1 point for finishing the group in the 2nd place and we even won by a last minute goal.    This saved us from having a draw against Spain. Now we are going to face Austria on July 2.

Unfortunately, I haven't watched the last few days matches and the first two of the day due to a busy schedule; however, today's matches (Turkey vs. Czechia and Portugal vs. Georgia) are going to be interesting. I was just watching Georgia vs. Portugal; I've bet on supporting Portugal, and Georgia scored in the first 2 minutes of the game. It was an astounding goal that I wasn't expecting at all. Hopefully, this won't discourage Portugal, and they'll be able to reverse the score soon enough. Great performance from Georgia so far; I'm curious to see how the game will progress.

There were four games played yesterday, they played two at a time therefore I was changing the channel between the games to see how they were playing out. Poland were very close to winning that game even though balance shifted between them. The penalty re-take was probably necessary because the rule is the goalkeeper has to keep at least one foot on the line but credit to Lewandowski for kicking the ball in the same corner but with more accuracy to score. Poland are now out of the tournament as they finished bottom of the group whereas France finished second.

The game of the day had to be Netherlands vs Austria. I could not believe the way the Austrians were playing, it was as though they were full of confidence wanting to win the group (which they did). The Netherlands finished 3rd in the group but are the strongest team at the moment in the group table of 3rd placed teams therefore will qualify for the next stage and possibly face England in the knockout stage.

About England, what a boring display they put on. They finished top of the group with one win and two draws but is was dismal from the in their three games.

These are the final group games of the tournament taking place today Wednesday 26th June:

Well, the knockout stages Round of 16 already confirmed Switzerland vs Italy as the first game and it will take place on Saturday 29th June. Switzerland will be heavily tested in that game and for that reason no matter how good you (or I) expect them to play, I expect them to lose because Italy would be favourites to win.

Italy are reigning Euro champions but have not been the best team in the tournament. Yes we know Switzerland are capable of causing an upset because Italy do not look like a strong cohesive unit and if they get tested by the Swiss (like Spain did to them) we will be able to see how they adapt. Having said that, this is a knockout game and for that reason I think the vastly experienced Italian side will go through to the next round.

For England I must say is going to happen despite the fact that the 3 Lions are not as clinical in front of goal as we expected right from the beginning of this tournament, 3 goals against a team (Slovenia) that's ranked 57th in the FIFA world ranking can be achieved but we can't trust England to do the needful and they haven't scored more than a goal since the kick off of this tournament, could today be the day the 3 Lions have to score goals? We can't tell. Turkey too is another big problem to the qualification of Croatia, the Turkey side are too poor to get a win against Czech Republic because the Czech team are better and stubborn to even lose to the Turkish team, so I'd say Croatia should forget about these two teams England and Turkey because the second chance isn't going to come to them this time around.

Italy were really lucky yesterday with the long injury time and the goal in the very last minute, but the goal was beautiful and well played.

I wouldn't have begrudged the Albanians the draw, but they were close to a draw but the finish was too weak.

Both  teams Switzerland and  team performed very well in last match and we saw a very interesting match due to completition between two teams. Both teams could goal only 1 but I expected more goals from Germany team . I think Germany team played bad as comparison to Switzerland because they got many chances to do the goal but they didn't play well and did not goal quickly. I will appreciate to Switzerland team because after doing first goal ,they played very defensive . Ndoye did excellent goals and remained active in the whole match and I liked his style to play in the ground. Switzerland team could perform well in next matches and we can expect good from that team.

Modric was given a huge standing ovation as he was substituted with 10 minutes of the game remaining, it looked as though Croatia were going to finish the group in second place and would automatically qualify for the next stage. It was his 178th cap for his country and now it seems highly likely he will not appear in another Euro or World Cup because in a few months he will be 39 years old.

What a player he was for Tottenham, Real Madrid and Croatia.

In order for Croatia to have any chance to qualify for the next stage, England have to beat Slovenia by three goals and Turkey to beat the Czech team.

I must say, is it the late drama in that encounter between Croatia and Italy for me. Just when the Madrid midfielder (Luka Modric) thought it was going to be his night the Italians decided to spoil his party but that's not the end for them I think, I believe they might come out as best losers in that group, that's not the kind of hope a country like Croatia are suppose to wait for, they're suppose to be in that number 1 or 2 position. Can their second chance make them (Croatia) ruthless and more aggressive when they start up a new chapter in this tournament? Only time will tell because they have one leg in the tournament and the other on the exit door.

These are the results of the games played yesterday 23rd June:

Scotland 0-1 Hungary
Switzerland 1-1 Germany


It must be painful for Croatia to be that close to finishing the table in second place and getting automatic qualification to the next stage and to lose that after conceding a goal nearly eight minutes in to time added-on. As a result Italy finished in second place but they are now relying on England to win by at least three goals (and that is possible) to get them through as one of the best 3rd placed teams.

Germany also scored a goal a couple of minutes in to time added-on for their equaliser but they finished the group as leaders but Hungary scored around ten minutes in to time added-on and they have been knocked out.

It was a really sad ending for Croatia. They were so close to winning the match but Italy's goal in the last moment shattered their dreams. After this result it looks quite difficult for Croatia to be one of top 4 3rd-placed teams to reach next round. They need Slovenia and Czechia to get really bad results to carry themselves to the 4th place. If we beat Czechia and Slovenia lose to England by at least 3 goals then Croatia would have a 2nd chance.

Regardless of what happens when Switzerland play Germany, if Scotland beat Hungary they will end the group stage with four points and that should be enough to get them through to the knockout stages (the first time ever in a major tournament) by virtue of being one of the best 3rd placed teams.

There was a time for the both teams to do the goal but both teams played lazy and they didn't play like they are players because players always remain active in the whole match and when they get a chance to do the goal,they achieve this chance and then they do the goal. I think if Ronaldo plays in this match from any side ,match result could be different and we could see a huge competition and opponent of Ronaldo team will be more active because they know Ronaldo can do the goal at any time. I think Messi is also excellent player but in this match ,no player has a caliper like Messi and Ronaldo and they should practice to improve their game , otherwise,they will be outside from their team and their future will be dark.

I expected The Netherlands vs France to produce at least a goal for each time therefore that game was a bit of a let down. It was the first game of Euro 24 that ended 0-0 at full time. Maybe if Mbappe was playing the result would have been different.

The goal Simons scored for Netherlands and was disallowed but it was a difficult decision to make. On one hand the goal should have stood because the player that was in an off-side position was not even interfering with play and was not in the line of sight between the goalkeeper and the ball. On the other hand, he was less than one metre away from the goalkeeper to his left side. The strike from Simons was excellent and deserved the goal but firs the referee ruled it out after his assistant told him the player was off-side and then VAR had a decision to make to overrule or confirm the original decision.

Poland losing 1-3 to Austria was a surprise but Poland have been eliminated from the competition as a result. As mentioned in an earlier post, well done to Ukraine for getting their first points of the tournament.

These are the games taking place today Saturday 22nd June. Belgium are in a must-win game against Romania but the game of the day is probably Turkey vs Portugal

I completely missed the game between Slovakia and Ukraine. I only watched Netherlands vs. France, which sparked controversy after ending in a draw due to Xavi Simons' (Netherlands) goal being disallowed by the referee with the claim that full-back Denzel Dumfries was in an offside position. I'm not the right person to judge whether this claim is accurate or not, but it was a bummer as I had bet on the Netherlands winning. Fortunately, Austria vs. Poland did not disappoint and was met with a great win.

Today's matches for 22nd of June are the following:

Georgia vs. Czechia

Turkey vs. Portugal

Belgium vs. Romania

I would not go the point of saying they had a thrilling game. The main question on my mind was what on earth was wrong with the England midfield. I have to give full credit to Denmark for not letting England walk all over them and they scored a fantastic equaliser after England took the lead through Kane.

RESULT: Slovakia 1-2 Ukraine

Ukraine come from a goal down to win their first game and collect their first points of the tournament. The Poland vs Austria game is at half-time with the scores 1-1.

England Vs Denmark match was thrilling match and I think everyone enjoy this match because both team gave their hundred percent to win this match. The match was between equal sides and both team score was 1  goal and both team got 1 , 1 point.  Kane did first goal for his country and no body could second goal for his country. Hjulmand did goal for his country in the  34 minutes of the match. The shots of Denmark team were more and they striked many shots and 7 shots were on target . The passes of Denmark team were 548 and passes of England team were 528 . The fouls of Denmark team were also more in number and that were 13 but the fouls of England team were 5 .Pass accuracy of both teams was equal and Possessions of Denmark team was more and that was 51 percent.

I am not surprised about how England play, they have always had talent in their squads but they never reach their full potential in any Euro or World Cup tournaments.

England play their final group game against Slovenia whereas Denmark play theirs against Serbia. The problem for England is that even as they sit at the top of their group table, they could miss out on automatically progressing to the next stage if Slovenia beat them and Denmark vs Serbia is not a draw.

Basically as long as England lose and there is a winner between Denmark and Serbia it will mean England can only go through to the next stage if they end up being of the 4th best 3rd placed teams. After their average display against Denmark it seems England will need to out on a strong solid display otherwise they could be knocked out at the next stage (if they qualify).
