I hope they will elect better referees for the next matches because from what I have seen in that first leg in Dortmund the referee made some glaring mistakes that tipped the scales in favor of one of the teams. Maybe they need to implement some video assisted refereeing because these kinds of errors in 2017 are getting pretty ridiculous  Roll Eyes
The error by referee is something we can't avoid, and I'm sure UEFA really elect the referees based on their record. About video-based assistant, I think that's not efficient, because referee is expected to take a decision as soon as possible, so if he has to wait the words by the assistant who check the video replay, then it will take time. Just saying, your idea is not bad tho.

They use video-assisted refereeing in the NHL for example. In fact, when a goal happens the opposite team can challenge that goal and force the referee to revise video footage of that goal and either confirm or cancel their call for a goal. I am not saying this will solve all problems with incorrect decisions in football but at least some offside goals could be revoked  Wink
Yeah thats why I said your idea is not bad, especially for a football game that has wider and bigger field than NFL, so it's a tough job for the referee to oversee the whole game himself which sometimes it leads him to take 'unfair' decision. I think that's the reason UEFA add 2 more referee assistant and adopt goal line technology.

I think this video assistance must be added to at least major soccer leagues and european competitions. It is true that many times the referees decide the outcome of a game and many times referees can be bought. What is hilarious is that sometimes the referees clearly supports the better team which don't need to be supported at first against lower quality teams.

Atletico - Leicester. I think it's good result for Leicester to concede only one goal, because Atletico dominated today. It will be very interesting second game.

They would have been so much better off losing the game 2-1, not scoring 1 away goal in this 2 leg games is a big handicap. I'd put atletico as a good chance to score 1 goal in next game so leicester have to score 3.
Currently Leicester is very high in confidence and as they played last few home games they can beat atletico even they fail to do any goal in away game but still its very interesting match and any team can progress in next round
I really hope Leicester to win the second leg because I still want to see the surprises provided by them. maybe this season is the best season Leicester to have a chance to get a trophy UCL. nothing is impossible in football.

I don't know what to call United's attackers.  They are quality players but are they full of self doubt?  The don't seem to play with enough conviction to score lots of goals.  Their attacking is sometimes stale.
Even Jose Mourinho himself doesn't satisfied in their forward players, he feel like they should've killed the game but they didn't. Manchester United's forward players are full of pressure, in fact all United's players is feeling the pressure, their fans are expecting so much from them, not to mention Mourinho is a strict man, he will not happy even with a small mistake his player made. Trust me, they've tried their best, but the pressure keep on coming to them.

I think that is what it is that most of the Man Utd players are under too much pressure and simply ain't performing at their best. We all know that they have potential but that doesn't count if they can't perform under pressure. I think next season they will be a lot better under Mourinho and will start to perform well in games. If Man Utd can win this competition then I think it will take a lot of pressure off the players and like I said I believe we will see a far better Man Utd team next season.

Wow this is a heck of champions league quarter finals. The only lucky team is atletico madrid who had a easy opponent. Dortmund match looked one sided but theybdid manage to score those to goals. Aubameyang was a bit disappointing but kagwa may be the reason for this comeback. So finally there is chance dotmund can reach the semi.
My prediction - Bayern will lose , bvb  has 30% chance of winning , i think it's over for barca and atletico is in semi final

competitor only celta vigo, ajax amsterdam and olympic lyon, i think what ever meet in semi final stake manchester unite can easy to stake final round
and play in home next week meet anderlect i think can easy to win
Competitor only Celta Vigo, Ajax, and Lyon? Hey man, that's three teams, and they are really tough based on their statistics. And you said "only"? I won't be surprise if one of those teams beat Man United and win Europa League.

my pick remain Manchester United

Manchester United is almost obliged to win the europa league, otherwise this season is a failure and even risk not to go to champion's league!
If manchester does not win the europa league there will be so much criticism for Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Mourinho, they are much better than any other in Europe League but they have to prove it.

I agree with you as out of all the teams left Man Utd should be the Europa League champions as I think they are the better team then the ones that are left, well the team that has more potential. Lyon I think might be there only danger, If Man Utd can't break into the top 4 in the Premier League then there only chance at qualifying for the Champions League next season is to win the Europa League so it will be an interesting end to the season to see what happens with Man Utd because I think it would be a failure if they can't at least qualify for the Champions League next season.

I'm betting pretty big on Anderlecht to win the next one, really think that they could pull it off with Dendoncker in the next match.
Very very risky, I know, but we'll see on the 20th of April.

Anderlecht win against Manchester United in Manchester?

Are you sure?

when viewed from the quality of players all prospective team of Manchester United's next opponents if they made it through to the next round after they overcome the resistance of Anderlecht in the second leg later that Lyon. but perhaps the chance of Manchester United is more open because of the motivation and their expectations are very high to get a Europa League trophy this season, because by winning this trophy is the only opportunity open to them to play in the arena of the Champions League next season and it will not be in wasted by Manchester United.

1-1 draw is a decent result for Man United in an away game in Europe. Man United will progress into the semi-finals if they win against Anderlecht in the second leg. This should not be a problem if United can start to win their home games. Winning the Europa League is the only avenue when United has a decent chance of qualifying for the Champions League next year so United needs to win the second leg.

No matter how good the result is, it's dangerous for me. Especially Manchester United, who spend a lot of positions, also underestimate their opponent in general, which is a disadvantage for them.

Although Anderlecht is not a very effective team, a Contra team may be another team in their league, but it is not certain that a surprise team can score 2 goals.

What were Manchester United players doing last night? They control the game, make chances and then only forget to do most important thing poke the ball in the net. Luckily they did get one, but conceded also. And as usual Pogba won't even be criticised even once, DE gea, Shaw, henrick all players are publicly criticized but not Pogba, he missed a sitter yesterday, patience is really running out. I hope he performs really better next match and may United win or forget all top players
