Just some nice pictures of confirmed speakers are not enough...

Good point.  Comparably at http://acen.org/ (anime convention) the main page shows a link to Panel Request Form (must be logged in) and Panel Request Policy.

Also, at the registration page, for the "I am a" field, I suggest changing "Miner" to "Miner/Validator."  I'm sure Amir Taaki would agree (or instead prefer "Validator" only). ^_^

Academic guys *need* a stable program of talks online at the site before they have a chance to secure funding to attend such an event.

So...looking forward to a more complete program.

Also, some info on how to submit contributions would be *really* helpful.

Just some nice pictures of confirmed speakers are not enough...

Update the website with pictures of the confirmed speakers?

I updated http://bitcoin.witcoin.com/p/1951/The-European-Bitcoin-Conference

moved this line to end of thread to spread more awareness.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Conference is looking very strong, we have Max Keiser, Stacey Herbert and Richard Bluestein confirmed as attending.

We now have a very good line up of speakers, sponsors, registrations, and we have a few options on venues so all is good.

All in all its shaping up for a great event.

Worldly - I would strongly recommend, if registrations are an issue, that you promote this event a bit more on this forum (and the other btc forums cropping up). Furthermore, many people may be planning to attend, but procrastinating.

It's very important for prospective attendees to register ASAP - and this is a message you need to push out there. I bet there are at least one or two dozen who are just being lazy, and will be shocked to see a cancellation... reach those people!!

We would want the conference to have at least 200 people attend and there just doesn't seem to be that level of interest.

The difficult decision is to push on and risk putting something together that won't be what has been advertised.
I would consider a lower price next time.  Conference pricing is all over the place, but for something like this, a 80 euro pricetag might draw more people and should allow to pay for the space, speakers (if they are paid) and a nice profit.

Have a vendor price that does not scare off vendors as well.  Vendors (advertised as coming) bring in attendees, and they usually reserve earlier so the fact that they are coming can be shown off as well.

While your goal is completely understandable, that's a very high number of paying (I assume) attendees for an unproven conference. Especially if most of them need to/will be traveling in and not local.

I go to a lot of conferences (both as attendee and as speaker), and have been to everything from well published recurring ones where the only attendees ended up being the speakers (!) to those where there are thousands of of local and hundreds of traveling participants. Many conferences end up doing last minute "bring # of your colleagues / classmates for free!" deals.

Here's hoping you will succeed Smiley From the outside (my schedule simply hasn't got room for me to join) it looks as if you're doing a great job.

Well, Max Keiser just tweeted that he'll be speaking in Prague! There surely are some more people who would attend just to see him and Rick Falkvinge.

Ouch Sad
Just to get an indication - are we talking about 10, 50 or 100 more people who would need to register?

While a European Bitcoin conference would sure be a great thing - I think most agree that it should only be held if there's enough demand.

Unfortunately the numbers of registrations have not been sufficient at this stage.

There is a good chance that the conference will have to be cancelled.

If you have intentions of attending please register.

Tomorrow is the final day for early bird registrations, more speakers that have expressed interest:
