"The house in Kransberg is being auctioned on NFT marketplace OpenSea, with a starting price of $74,000. But it has no bidders so far.
In brief
A house in Germany is being sold as a non-fungible token (NFT).
The buyer of the NFT will be able to access unlockable content that comes with it, enabling them to contact the seller and organize the formal sale."
Interesting, but so far it is only a good option to use NFTs for auctions. When it comes to all the documentation stuff once a sale is finalized you will still need to have all the communication with relevant authorities. It will still need quite some time until you can freely and quickly houses or parts of houses on the blockchain.
For now I guess it is more suitable for artwork and so on.
I do agree with this. Houses are not easy to sell and you can't just buy NFT of that house and expect the other side to agree on the terms, they can tell you "anyone who buys this NFT will get the house" and if they decline? What are you going to do, sue them because of the NFT purchase? Which court would really care about that? This is why I think it is obvious that we should not be focusing on anything that has physical value that is sold on digital platform, we are not buying some items on amazon here, we are talking about something as big as a house.
Obviously the regular expectation for NFT is artwork, painting, digital arts, gifs, sounds, tweets, instagram posts, videos and the such, that way you know what you are getting and there is no extra steps needed. It is not a bad method, way too overpriced but at least it works like how it suppose to work.
