This thread if for EWBF miner not PSU discussion, but answering some replies about PSU.

No, it is NOT dependant of manufacturer of PSU if you can attach 4 GPUs to it or not.

It is dependant only on two things - firstly - does your PSU can produce required wattage for your system? As rule of thumb good way to look at it is that system itself will draw around 100w so rest is left solely for your GPUs, so you looking around 650W for GPUs. For 4 cards that's 162.5W per card. You could easy run slightly under-clocked GTX 1080 with that or GTX 1070 with maximum possible OC. So in your case you could even go with smaller PSU, but most PSU bellow 750 don't have more then 4 PCI-E power cables and that's your second limitations - number of cables.

Im running 8 GTX 1070 with 1000w PSU with ease and stable.

Anyone here who mines with 1070s and 1060s?
Will a 750w be sufficient with 2x1070 and 2x 1060 mining rig?

It depends on how good your PSU is, and you have not supplied us with that information.
Most good 750W PSUs will provide at least 60A of power, so if you set powerlimit to 120 and 90, you should be ok.
You will have problem connecting them, though, since you have only 4 pcie cables.
Try connecting 1060s to separate molex cables through adapters.
My Corsair TX 850 is running six 1060s with PL set to 100W.

I have an evga 750w gold. And im planning to power limit using msi after burner at 80%

If you reduce power 1070 to 120W x 2 = 240W
                              1060 to 75W x 2 = 150W
Eco CPU + mobo takes about 40W, so sum ~430W You should be ok with 750W, but it depens on PSU. Corsair 750W got 4 PCiexpress so it would be ok for sure.

Hello, can somebody save me from experimentation, is there any limitation regarding the number of GPUs per system with this miner? can i build a 9 gpu mining rig with 9 gtx 1060?  Huh

9 GPUs at windows 10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDN2vkGPRW4

cheers!  Grin

if you looked closely that guy is only mining with 8 gpu's on Asus prime 270-A mobo. I'd like to be able to get 9 going as well but heard windows cant support more than 8.

I did it to 9 GPUs on windows with the same hardware shown on the video, Claymore support only 8 GPU thats why you cant mine with 9, but windows handle 9 GPUs perfectly (last version of windows 10)

i was wondering if EWBF miner could support 9 Nvidia cards, to take advantage of all the GPUs supported by windows.
Congrats.
If I remember well I think he once said -that the miner can support many many GPUs. (in the hundreds). But it is now easy for you to test if it works or not. So let us know when you do.

You prefer to sacrifice the M.2 and use a standard SSD? I didn't do the math. I was aware you could use an adapter on the second M.2 with win10 but it didn't occur to me to use both of them.

I use USB keys.  I don't know why you would need an M2 ssd on a mining rig.
I am saying that because the guys over at P.I.M.P. stopped using USB keys and recommand
using a SSD medium level as a minimum config. I am using M.2 SSD because they are twice as fast as
SATAs.

I have a mobo that I cant do more than4 GPUs, do you think I could use the M.2 to install a 5th GPU and use a standard SSD?

I guess your version of Linux (NvOC) is adapted to work with more GPUs.

It depends on what mobo and cpu you are using.  Some mobos and CPUs are best avoided or not used.
MSI 170A Gaming pro
1x--16x--1x--1x--8x--PCI--4x
Tried many configurations
Bios Gen1 selected
When I install a 5th GPU it detects it but get a !flag in DeviceManager.
So I was wondering if using a M.2 adapter would work in the sole M.2 on the board.Huh

It's not possible to download the software from Google Drive anymore, because Google identifies this one as a virus. I fully understand if this is a false warning, but you should consider creating signed executables and get them approved via Microsoft App certification or similar.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for being noob here. I want to start small and very interested in low powered mining.

Now I want to build like 6x gtx1050... would that be ok? How much min and max hashrate I would get on per 1050?

Thanks in advance!
 Smiley

SC version can do ~180 sol/s.  I have 1050s, 1060s, 1070s, and 1080ti rigs; and I would recommend making a rig with 1060s or 1070s instead.

The main reason is the efficiency: the 1050s can't match the range or level of the others.

Are you not satisfied with 1080ti efficiency? what kind or cards do you have ? and PSU

I think 1070 are the best as you get best sol/w ration, I am currently sitting stable ( uptime for 2 of my 6gpu rigs 5 weeks atm) at 3.7 ratio (420 sols per 113-115w).

When you look at this from money point of view and cost savings, then only cost saving you get by using 1080ti is fact that you use less systems components. For example, 2 1080ti rigs would be around same as 3 1070 rigs so you require 1 less mobo, cpu, ram, ssd and psu.

But psu is tricky because 1080ti would require much psu with much higher wattage and to get double wattage psu you have to pay 3x the price there for it offsets gains from saving on 1 less mobo, cpu, ram and ssd. As example for gold rated EVGA PSU - 750w psu gets you 7.5w per euro, 1000w psu gets you 5.2w per euro and 1600w psu gets you 4.1w per euro (prices off evga eu web site).

As well, you have to take into consideration your electricity cost. If its anything like in EU, around 0.15 euro cents per kwh, then electricity savings should be priority and you should always go for gold rated psu. I had done calculations to see how much you save going from bronze to gold or bronze to platinum and gold is most efficient choice.

Same goes for dual mining. It requires a lot of power. A lot of power significantly increases cost of you whole system + risk of component failure ( high heat ) + cost of cooling the room.

What I have found is that most efficient is to have 8x gtx 1070 rigs with 2x 750w gold psu runing ZCash only. Gives you best sol/w ration and fastest ROI time due to saving on system cost compared to 6x gtx 1070 rig.

I know you do not have to believe me but it is clean
but you must still careful with any possibilities any kind of virus still can infect whether its look clean...

If it's running on a dedicated mining rig, you may as well trust it's clean. The worst an attacker can do theoretically is redirect some hashes to themselves - and this is something you (any many, many other people) would be able to detect right away, and then get rid of the bad software.

Mining software pops on virus scans because attackers put them on machines not meant for mining.

I already have a rig of 6 RX AMD cards mainly for ETH  mining.

My main computer was not built for mining in mind but I figured out I can use it with a powerful single or maybe dual Nvida cards for some coins and make it earn the money I will be paying for  new Nvdia GPU

Cards are kinda expensive where I live. Used GTX 1070 400USD, Used GTX 1080 555USD. Used GTX 970 is around 210-230USD. New GTX 1080ti is like 900-1100USD.

I will not use more than two GPUs. Actually my mobo only supports Crossfire but no SLI so dual Nvdia cards will make no good for me for gaming but only for mining.

One option for dual Nvdia GPU would be using one of them for gaming while the other one mines and both of them for mining when I dont game.

Electricity cost 0.11-0.13 USD/Kwh. PSU is Seasonic X750-KM3.

I am more inclined to get a single GTX 1080ti rather than dual GTX 1070/1080 considering no SLI support of my mobo.

If I invest 950-1000 USD local purchase (or  775-800 USD international purchase) for a 1080Ti now--> Does it make sense for my condiitons?

If yes which brand and model would you suggest to buy? Can it ROI in 4-5 months or till the Volta GTX GTX 2070/2080 comes into market and kills it price and performance wise

Thank you all.

Sounds interesting, I had a similar idea when I read that there are m.2 > pci adapters to be released but did not find a matching one yet. MSI presented their m.2 to mini-SAS-HD adapter but this seems to be a dead end. amfeltec has PCIE 4-way splitters but i am unsure about how to supply enough wattage to them.
what solution do you have in mind / did you order if I may ask?
