For me (as a non-tekkie and also financially paranoid), rumor has it that Mycelium has an exciting project to automatically mix (tumble) BTC when using a future wallet of theirs.  No date yet (as far as I know).

Thread here, has link back to an article at bitcoinist:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/mycelium-may-introduce-automatic-coin-tumbling-in-a-new-wallet-1592812

This, IMO, is a nice thing.  Easy and gain more privacy.  I hope they do it!

New payment methods will be added in the next release but that will break compatibility with versions prior to 0.4.9.4, so please update to that version first to not experience exceptions when offers with new payment methods are published.

Release notes 0.4.9.4:

Add fix for unsupported payment methods.

I am not sure if the OPENDIME hardware devices would count as an exciting project, but I like the devices a lot.  In my case I am using them as a "wealth preservation device" (BTC stored on them, and locked up!), similar to how one would use a full-blown hardware wallet like a Trezor or Ledger.

The OPENDIME is also very cheap!  Smiley

My reviews, the devices work very differently than the Trezor and Ledger (pages three and four):

Except that they dont have a long lifespan, and if you dont have a backup then you risk losing your money.

I am not complaining. I am telling you that this is what is happening right now. Are you yourself using Bitsquare for trading BTC? It is very hard buying at a good price because only a small people are using it. In Open Bazaar you have to be online whole year round so that your store will be online also. It is not very usable that way.

I am just telling the truth do not be angry. I am also a supporter like you but these things that are bad should be said so that they can be fixed and improved.

I am not angry I am just saying that its easy to complain about project not having success, but nobody does anything to promote them.

No I am not using Bitsquare but I hope to use in the future if it becomes liquid.

It is good that we are seeing new ways of doing things thru bitcoin. But is it just me or what was supposedly the biggest projects in the bitcoin world seldom used when released. Two examples of these are Bitsquare and Open Bazaar. After release I have not heard any news of them anymore. I checked Bitsquare and there is only small volume traded over there. Is this a sign that bitcoin as a currency is irrelevant and it is treated more like a commodity?

Give them time, Rome wasnt built in 1 day.

Better yet, start promoting them, instead of complaining.

Embedded mining looks very good project, if it will be possible to do mining with let say mobile. Other projects can be good, if advertising budget for each of them will be enough.  Wink

I hope Bitsquare gains more users after the recent hacks.

This proves that centralized exchanges are crap.

Originally I would have suggested BitcoinCard (https://card.mycelium.com/index.html) as one of the most exciting projects. However I've changed my opinion based on the retail-based distribution model Mycelium has chosen for the cards.

The BitcoinCard would have been an extremely disruptive device if it was offered as an independent p2p payment solution, meaning the user purchases the card to obtain a physical Bitcoin wallet with implemented payment functionality. While p2p payments are available with BitcoinCard in its current form, the fact that the card is meant to be issued by retail companies basically eliminates the privacy users would have with an independent device.

That's disappointing.

ya.ya.yo!

I dont see the point, you can just write the private key onto a piece of paper, what is the point of cards with bitcoin?

That is a great list. I couldn't have done it any better. I like the Joystream project because it is similar to promoting Bitcoin. If we get big to stars to work on Joystream, bitcoin could become very popular.  Smiley
