Hi guys,

I have been holding some ether lately and I didn't wanna keep them up on an exchange for a longer duration for security reasons.
So I would like to know which one is the best wallet out there where I can hold ether.

My requirements:
1. I must be able to control the private key/seed phrase
2. The wallet must be from a trusted source

I did a little research and found Exodus and Atomic wallet to be the best for holding ether
Can you guys please provide a review if you have been using it

If any of these wallets have been previously compromised please mention them as well.
Thanks in advance.
I prefer Exodus over atomic any time any day, Atomic will get better with future updates for sure but for now it's a NO for me, the wallet is full of bugs and laggy too, interface ? Worse, the best wallet for ethereum and other altcoins for me is trust wallet

You already narrow down two wallets like Exodus and Atomic then I can say it's up to your likeness. Both offer the same requirements you listed and maybe a few insignificant here and there. I only used to use Atomic before switch to metamask for its convenience.

Believe me my friend, i would never use either of exodus or atomic wallet for my etherum account. It is far too tedious process.

The most appropriate wallet for me, is the trust wallet. Trust wallet gives you alot of blockchains on a single app.
Be it bitcoin, etherum, tron, waves, bnb and more.

As long as you keep your keys and phrase very safe; you have nothing to worry about

Hmm, what's the issue with using Ethereum/tokens in Atomic? It's almost same experience as trustwallet. However Atomic interface is simpler and we have desktop app and instant exchange.

Hey guys, thank you for raising questions. Would love to shed the light.

Atomic is non custodial wallet, where you fully control your funds. Private keys are encrypted and never leave your local device. However you should care about your 12 words backup safety.

Atomic is build on top of common open source libraries, like Bitcoin core.

Atomic is using by thousands of users for over 2 years without any security issues. You can always check reviews.
https://www.trustpilot.com/review/atomicwallet.io

Atomic supports over 40 blockchains on Desktop and Mobile. We support all erc20 tokens, same as MEW. Just send token to your ETH address, then restart app. We also support staking for 8 assets.

According to glitches, any app may have bugs. However Atomic app is constantly improving day by day. If someone tried app a year ago, performance was significantly improved since that. Our support is ready to help 24/7 with 20 minutes average reply.

We always recommend to try any new projects with small amount first to check how does it fit your needs.

We are opened for any questions, critics and valuable feedback.

thank you!

Why you want to trust a source if you can use open source wallets where all code is visible ..
Exodus close source, you can't check all code. and op choose exodus wallet already.

Apart from that i think for long term hodling you should use some hardware wallet or paperwallet.
I never heard ethereum have paper wallet like Bitcoin.

I guess based on the thread of Jollygood the issue is not yet resolved, Exodus is a very safe wallet I'm currently using it and it never failed me,
Maybe you only have small balance.

You can import it to other wallet like Mycellium Wallet. Other coins can also be stored on it.
Mycelium is Bitcoin wallet, how to import erc 20 token when wallet incompatible?

As a sir member I expect you to have know more about wallets, you are talking as if you are new on here, anyways, I use coinomi and trust wallet, I haven't had the chance to use Exodus wallet but I love enjin wallet too, you should check out trust wallet, presently it's the best, you have access to your keys and it's a safe wallet
I guess you meant "Snr/Senior, right?🤔

Well, many here won't agree with your choice of Coinomi. I, for one, won't. With Coinomi you will have to manually add the tokens. Otherwise they won't reflect in your wallet. I use Imtoken and have been on it for over two years now. It's stress free. The tokens just arrive on their own. Also, Imtoken allows automatic swap of any token. You own the keys. I rate it above metamask or any other ERC enabled wallet.

Atomic wallet is a very bad wallet and like some people above me and i vote for exodus. I have been using exodus for more than two years and i never encounter any problem with it.

Im token is algo good wallet to store your ethereum and it supports almost all of erc20 tokens.

You should go with Exodus if you want to store your coins and also control the private keys. You can import it to other wallet like Mycellium Wallet. Other coins can also be stored on it.

Exodus wallet supports few ERC-20 tokens not all, but if you're looking for wallet to store your tokens, Metamask is the best option here. You can trade on decentralized exchanges by using your metamask and not by importing your wallet keys.

May I know why you are considering Exodus or Atomic when the clearer choice might be to just use a proper ETH wallet like MyEtherWallet (MEW)? And then maybe for more security on browser use MetaMask?

Exodus is nice, but as pointed out, not fully open source and you cannot see all your ERC20 tokens if you want to add them. You can control everything with MEW.

I have used both the wallets for more than a year now and feel Exodus is better for you if you want to hold only ether. There are still bugs in atomic wallet which they have been removing with every new update but I still think it will be risky to use it. It is also very slow if you compare it with Exodus and has a glitchy UI.

If you are planning to keep a considerable amount of Ether than it is better to go for a hardware wallet than these software wallets. Remember security is the key in cryptocurrency market.

You should beware of atomic wallet, because the owner of Atomic wallet is from same scammer and has been tagged by @JollyGood. Maybe they didn't scam now, but we can't know in future what they will do. It's better to prevent than cure IMO.

Exodus or other web wallets can be reasonable choice for hold a little amount altcoin/cryptocurrency. If you have/hold huge amount crypto, I really suggest you to use hardware wallets (e.g. Trezor or Ledger).

I guess based on the thread of Jollygood the issue is not yet resolved, Exodus is a very safe wallet I'm currently using it and it never failed me, they always have an update to their wallet to make it more secured and bug-free, but if you are storing Eth another good wallet is Mycrypto wallet desktop version, been using this for two years now.

I had used myetherwallet earlier but for some reason I just don't like it.
Additionally, I need a mobile app which I can use easily rather than using a web wallet and copying the private key and entering it and stuff...

By the way myetherwallet has an mobile app for both android and ios. Apart from that i think for long term hodling you should use some hardware wallet or paperwallet.

I'm using an Atomic wallet before and it was a multi-coin and noncustodial wallet. It means you are the one who controls your keys and seeds. But It was too buggy before that force me to choose another wallet to used and this time it was Imtoken wallet 2.0. Actually I'm also using an old Imtoken wallet before but due to my increasing requirements for storing other coins, I replaced it until Imtoken launch its 2.0 multi-coin wallet with built-in exchange and other functions. so far I'm very contented with Imtoken wallet 2.0. with user-friendly UI and for me, it was a flawless wallet.

Why you want to trust a source if you can use open source wallets where all code is visible to you and billion other people to see and check for backdoor?  No need for trusted sources ever when you can trust the math.

I believe neither of these two wallets are open source.

I have already narrowed it down to 2 best wallets. I am just asking which is the best out of the best.
What's wrong in asking for experiences while using these wallets. It's always better to ask to the real people rather than reading reviews online.
Hello, I think you forgotting the choices of hardwallets. In my opinion, ledger and trezor are still good wallets, that hold cryptocurrency. You are planning to hold eth right? Why not use Ledger device, the NanoS is not that expensive and you can assure your seed phrase and confident with its security.

But for free, I think metamask is the best choice out there for me. Using this for too long to store my eth and it feels like safe too.

Why not myetherwallet for ether? Or metamask? I think both of this are good wallet to hold any token of Ethereum. It is good that you are going to hold the fund in exchanges, putting your coins on exchanges are really a foolish idea.

I had used myetherwallet earlier but for some reason I just don't like it.

Thanks for all your opinions, I guess I will go with Exodus.

Exodus and Atomic wallet are both good and moreover all you need is the ethereum blockchain right? If you want more than ethereum these wallets supports many other altcoins too, not just as big as coinomi wallet which supports over 80+ altcoins
