Summary of what we know so far:
1) So far the only "official" updates we've been given directly from CoinsMarkets is that someone with admin access to the site updated the banner sever times since Friday. The first updated said
"We are here to stay , there is few DB issue we are fixing due to DB overload . Now we may be moving due to users contacting hosting and calling us a fraud." (so who ever updated this is aware of the backlash). The latest update currently reads
"We are checking with different hosting now". On 1/16 The site banner was updated to say "We are checking with different hosting now. Process taking longer than expected with fixing DB , All coins are safe"
2) At some point, the site was somewhat functional over the weekend. The Wallet Status page showed wallets that were online with Last Scan Times on 1/12 and 1/14 ->
https://i.imgur.com/ykzWXLy.pngDepending on which server you're looking at, they've also been showing up as online with Last Scan Times of 1/7 or 1/8 ->
https://i.imgur.com/PVCptwB.png3) The registration date for the domain coinsmarkets.com is set to expire on March 9th (of this year) ->
https://www.whois.com/whois/coinsmarkets.comUpdate (1/20): the whois page for coinsmarkets is now showing the registration was extended for year. The domain is now set to expire on March 9th of 2019.4) At the time of this posting, the only user in the CoinsMarkets' trollbox chat that is actually affiliated with CoinsMarkets is the bot
coinsmarketchat that has been spamming
"Severs overload we are migrating to a new servers , please bear with us." since this began. None of the other users claiming to be affiliated with CoinsMarkets are legit.
5)
Allegedly, someone did contact their hosting company and the hosting company did state they did order new servers.
Allegedly, the hosting company did not ask CoinsMarkets to leave. There are screenshots of these exchanges, however I don't believe any of them have been confirmed to be legitimate.
6) At the time of this post, the user coinsmarkets has not logged in since January 4th ->
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/coinsmarkets-978044Also, they never posted again after October 17th.
If you look at their posting history, they did make regular updates on a previous occasion when their site coinsmarkets.com was down.
There does exist a snapshot of their profile from November 27th ->
https://web.archive.org/web/20171127165540/https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/coinsmarkets-978044 showing that they logged in on November 24th.
So we do know that, on at least one occasion between October 17th (when they posted last) and January 4th (which is their current last login date in their profile), they were logged in to this site.
7 ) There are allegations/sugggestions that CoinsMarkets, CoinsControl and possibly even the ECA are one in the same or are connected or working together to run exchange scams. None of this has been confirmed. However, what we do know is that
The user coinsmarkets posted fairly regularly and then never posted again after October 17th, 2017.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/coinsmarkets-978044;sa=showPostsThe user coinscontrol signed up here started posting regularly approximately 2 weeks later on October 31st.
