... and the swarm is headed towards us
Hello all! Here is some new CN projects, but only hybrid one looks interesting.
Added:
Galactic Bits (GBITS) - yet another useless small emission no-gui-wallet-turtle-fork - 100,000,000 GBITS in total. 1.1% is premine.
Coinicles (CICO) - huge emission small premine LOKI fork. RandomXL algo. GUI wallets for Windows and Linux.
Zano (ZANO) hybrid POS+POW algo ProgPowZ - looks like serious one. Small emission (17,517,203 ZANO), GUI wallets and miners for Windows, Linux and Mac.
Deleted:
Coming soon. Still cleaning list.

Zano for me is the most interesting of the lesser-known ones. The lead dev Andrey Sabelnikov (aka crypto_zoidberg) was the original programmer for Bytecoin, the first CryptoNote implementation.
So pretty much every coin on this list is based on his original code. Here's a visualization of all the forks that I posted to the Zano thread as it kinda blew my mind:

The chains may still go because seed nodes are active but really most all were forked to print coins for income no matter what was promoted about them or what kind of "development" was done. Some of their values are so bad that they are sub 1 satoshi and even close to one Lsat. These coins are litereally worthless in the current real-world situations no matter their supply. You can literally buy nothing with them without billions of coins and then you have to dump them on an exchange for next to nothing to get BTC to buy anything. Those promoting you can buy things with their coins are just devs selling to devs or devs selling to friends and uneducated persons believing them.
In general, I believe that your reasoning is close to the truth. The cost of most of them is purely speculative and developers are driven by a desire to earn money on seigniorage. On the other hand, I see that the developers of about a dozen of these coins make a significant contribution to the development of CryptoNote protocol and CryptoNight algo family, or have an interesting user case in order to get to know their solutions better and, perhaps, to use them for solving practical problems. It is unfortunate that projects like HOSP or Veronite have closed. But some projects continue to develop. In the development of the idea of the maximum anonymity of the protocol, RyO demonstrates progress, in the development of user software - Loki, BitTube (already traditionally). These are not just forks of Monero, they are developing each in its own direction. Monero, by the way, also still develops. Also take a look of Nerva, that implements the original idea of Satoshi Nakomoto - one computer, one vote. Its truly decentralized and anonymous. Some believe that Haven will succeed in creating a pair of its own market value currency and stablecoin. Thus, I believe that yes, the list cleaning will continue, but some solutions will develop, as the new versions of CryptoNote / Cryptonight (especially Heavy) are extremely cool, as they are truly anonymous.

Did a lot of work to reorganize the list. All inactive and dead coins are placed on a separate page - Inactive. Checked the availability of all sites and the network status of each coin. 10 new coins were added, of which a couple are rebrands or mergers of old ones. Updated information on many coins. Look for the orange label upd in the first column.

I think you are no need to write this. People know so well related to merit. They surely will reward you merits once they assume this the post above is helpful and valuable. I suggest removing this sentence, I'm afraid it can be classified as merit begging. Don't worry, you have a great thread!

-Just a little suggestion, sorry if it is a bit OOT. But it is still related to the thread's content above-

The problem with almost all cryptonite coins is lack of serious developers, cryptonite coins are mostly pump and dump coins and many are already dead, i still have many coins with me that are running on cryptonite blockchain and they are just abandoned, masari is the only one on your list that i trust, nxboost ends up scamming me because they change algo and refused to swap old coins to new tokens for the old coin holders
Agree with you. Moreover. If I collect a list of cryptocurrencies on a different PoW algorithm (SHA256, Scrypt, Ethash, X11, Equihash), I’m afraid that the picture will be exactly the same. I mean that the proportion of shitcoins will be the same. In about 80%. And for the same reason - the lack of serious developers. Becouse its common problem. The purpose of my work is to find the remaining 20%, which are suitable for at least something other than speculation.

Added: BINcoin. Ticker: BINCOIN. A hybrid of PoW / PoS on the CryptoNote protocol and a customized mining algorithm, which for some reason called KryptoNight. According to site, the premine is 100% (which is not typical for CryptoNight). According to information from the developers, the premine will be about 91% (the initial emission (program premine) is 100,000,000 and additional 10,000,000 will be available for mining). So, the total emission will be 110,000,000 BINCOINs. So far, there are only Android wallet, but GUI wallets for Windows, Linux and Mac are being tested. Wallets is not provided by team for be for testing, but they sent screenshots to me. OK. They say that e-commerce solution also in development. Declared usecase - payments using the associated VISA BIN Debit Card. I note that such plans were also announced by the Czech CitiCash. The advantage of Czechs is the CryptoNight Heavy ASIC-resistant algorithm and an excellent GUI wallet design. Cons - GUI wallet is available only for Windows.

Cryptonight, Cryptonote algorithm coins are everywhere.
Unfortunately, most of them are useless, and valueless, except Monero and LOKI.
It is so rarely to see valueable coins with such an algorithm.
For a long time I have been watching the development of coins on variations of this algorithm, and I must say that I mostly agree with you. But there are also several projects that, from a technical point of view, are not inferior to what you called. RYO, for example, is already far superior to Monero. There are also several projects that have better marketing. But there is not a single project that would harmoniously combine technical, marketing and infrastructural superiority over Monero.

I'm a fan of cryptonight coins and even all my mining rigs are build specially for cryptonight coins but lately mining as not been profitable and even I decided to start mining newer coins but many of them are abandoned or dead now ,coins like flackchain ,worktips, festival coins etc  ,I will start mining if coins like electroneum are released
Thank you for sharing your mining expirience and updates. Usually I do mining from time to time and only for testing purposes. I will check information on abandoned projects you mentioned and will mark its red if network is down for a week or so. It was always hard to me to mark project in red, but if it is no development and no nodes alive, so, the project is abandoned and I will redmark it. For now WorkTips looks abandoned, but there is pulse in Worktips Project GitHub. Also there is some activity in FlakeChain's Explorer WebApp (but it looks like FlakeChain renamed to Onion Monero now). Thank you again!
Updates: Flake Chain (XSF), Worktips (WTIP) websites does not alive and its website cells marked in red. Networks and development progress of this coins will be checked.
Losses: Festival (FEST) marked red as it looks like abandoned by developers (no pulse on github for half a year, website and block explorer not alive).

As a side result of writing a series of articles on CryptoNote-based coins, I have formed an extensive list of cryptocurrencies based on this protocol. I gathered information about them (variation of the algorithm, metrics, website, presence of GUI wallets) into one Google table and I want to present to the community, as I understand that this list can never be completed and will always need changes and additions. Here it is:

CryptoNote/CryptoNight based coins list (Google Spreadsheet)

Why did I make this list?
Most of the resources that I monitor do not contain information about all coins, or do not contain a metric that interests me. And just none of them indicate what kind of software for the end user is currently available. And I specialize in software reviews, so I collected all the information about which GUI / Web / Mobile wallets exist for a particular coin. In addition, I hope that I managed to create the most comprehensive list of CryptoNote / CryptoNight coins at the moment, including historical ones. Now there are about 270 coins in it.

Color Legend
  • Coins highlighted in red are either dead, scam, or some kind of joke. Yes, everything is still there, both alive and abandoned by the developers. By the way, in my understanding, the dead are those whose network has not shown signs of life for several years or months. However, there are miraculous resurrections.
  • Bold lines are coins that use CryptoNight Heavy. For some reason I wanted to select them. Perhaps in future I will highlight other ASIC-resistant algorithms. We can discuss this topic.
  • new - not literally brand new coins, just recently added.
  • upd - recently updated info. The updated cells is highlighted in orange.

For what I leave it here
If the topic is interesting to you and, in particular, if you have something to add / change - leave your feedback in comments. I will check the information and make changes. I also carry out plans to create a website where all the listed coins will be presented with detailed descriptions at least in Russian and English, provided with links to social networks and pools where one or another coin can be mined. In fact, I have already begun to form a list of CryptoNight-pools, which on the site will be cross-referenced with a list of coins. If you find this idea interesting and can somehow help with this - write to me. Well, you can also try to dissuade me from this undertaking.

Resources that I monitor:
https://triforcecoin.com/
https://forkmaps.com/#/coinList
https://www.cryptunit.com/coins/
https://www.profitbotpro.com

Incomplete and selective listings:

https://crypt0.zone/coins/cryptonight
https://www.coincalculators.io/coins.aspx

Historical resources:
https://cryptonote.org/coins
https://github.com/aeugenegray/cryptonote-coins-list

Thanks for paying attention to this post. I just hope that the information gathered by me will be useful to someone in work, research, or just for information. The table is updated weekly. I add new coins to the end of the list. The rest is sorted by algorithms and then titles.

I also thank everyone who supported me with Merit+. 👍
