exactly -- so it makes perfect sense IMO to both accept BTC for payment (targeting the geek/libertarian/bitcoin crowd), and also retain the "gift card" nature of their credit system.

facebook already has a proprietary token/credits systems, and i'd be surprised if it isn't already widely used. it doesn't seem necessary for them to pursue bitcoin. but maybe i'm missing something...

Yes.

That and inviting regulator into facebook doorstep is the last thing any company want, unless the benefit greatly out weight the cost.

In June 2012, Facebook announced it would no longer use its own money system, Facebook Credits. Users with credits will see them converted into their own currencies.

In June 2014 they will replace credits with bitcoins? Grin

I doubt they ever would do that. Doing that would bring a lot of attention to Bitcoin, and that's something the US Government probably doesn't want.

If you can advertise and pay with BTC on Facebook this will help a lot the community and the stable price of BTC. Lot of people pay for FB credits to play games , they even buy FB credits and FB gold from Black markets.

If facebook directly accepting bitcoin, bitcoin will probably replaces the facebook credit.

Yeah that is a really easy way for people/government to keep tabs on your bit coin holdings and addresses.
