Who knows if they're actually going to be doing something like this, or they're just trying to make some media hype to drive some attention to their company, their platform, and their stock price. It's a pretty understandable option if they're trying to hide out the whole cambridge analytics scandal they went, and are going through right now.

I don't see a need for them to have a crypto anyway, this article seems a TAD fishy on how it explains everything too. Unconfirmed sources aren't my thing.s

Only rumors, but I see that this can be real (unicorns taking over crypto).
This would popularize blockchain and crypto to a new level, I think we are not so far from that anymore.

If facebook going to make their own cryptocurrency, maybe other social media platform will create their own crypto too later.
i wonder if they going to hold an ICO for collecting money from peoples, although they has banned crypto ads.

Blockchain is a superior technology, it is much safer, tamper proof and efficient compare to the World Wide Web. In this regard, almost all business and organizations will gradually use or embrace blockchain technology to carry out their routine activities. I believe this is a good thing and will change the entire idea of centralization. Though complete decentralization would be hard to imagine due to practical issues, and government regulations. I believe their would be some sort of a quasi decentralization in almost all future businesses and services. So Facebook would undoubtedly use this technology and may be their own cryptocurrency. Then things would really pace up!

This news is real and not just the rumor or banning of any crypto ads on their platforms does make a lot of sense because first you can eliminate your competitors instead of trying to become a sustainable monopolist. Cool

I think this news is nothing but a rumor. As I know Facebook has banned ads because some service related to crypto were scams. They have banned anything related cryptocurrency from their platform but now they are trying to make their own, which is pretty weird. So, I will tell that this news is fake and the article also said that those are unconfirmed information.

Of course it comes to ridiculous! I remember recently Soros said that bitcoin and the entire crypto market is a complete nonsense and a bubble that it is not worth investing .... and at the beginning of this year began to invest huge money in a crypto world! the same thing is obtained by Facebook, only recently facebook and tweeter shouted that they prohibit advertising and promotion of the crypto world ... and now the rumor about the creation of a new coinface Facebook has already passed! Facebook is planning to get on iso !!!! class, begin to quietly give up all haters crypt!))))

Oh yeah! Facebook, who sells data to federals, Instagram, any of the social platforms are not good to advertising Bitcoin - clean and anonymous technology, that's my point.

Yeah! that is true and not a hoax or just an new information that is trying to cover up fb in the recent scandals.
But as i read the story about that, they have no plan to generate a token or start and ICo. It seems that they will use the blockchain technology to run more of its recent services rather than creating a new product or services. If that is the case then, people will have no chance to invest in the blockchain technology fb is investigating. Additionally, based from the news the blockhain team is just small and it is not expected to develop what it is intended this current year.

Few days ago facebook decided to block bitcoin advertisement & its true facebook is researching on blockchain system where bitcoin applied this on 2008 but they wants to apply this system and they may be develop their own coin because they know bitcoin will lead the future so bitcoin system is really acceptable for everyone because of its facilities so bitcoin price will increase soon & also many of the investors are investing money on bitcoin.

Facebook and other companies will probably use blockchain technology and even create their own coins but now they start their coin for what? I don't think they start a ico for that.

Once facebook accepted the blockchain, it would be spread easily and become popular to everyone.

What ? i thought facebook banned cryptocurrency from their social media.
So they banned other crypto because they want to create they own cryptocurrency. Interesting.

I don't see how a blockchain or a crypto currency could be useful for facebook.
Facebook is all about control and centralization. The users are the product.
I just thing that Zuckerberg tries to jump on the hype bandwagon, but nothing really useful or from benefit will be made for the users.
If they indeed should launch a "crypto currency" I believe it's going to be more something like a gift certificate program.

Don't you think it is weird that they banned anything related to crypto currencies from their platform saying that they are all "deceptive" and now they are trying to make their own? I guess those are just rumours as the article says those are unconfirmed information. Or it might have to do something with using the blockchain technology but not making crypto currencies.

actually the fact that they banned everything else proves that they are in fact working on it for real. and there are enough trusted sources out there reporting this that you can believe it. besides it is not really a weird thing to look into blockchain technology, many big companies have been doing it for some time now. they all see the potential one way or another (from the technology itself or the ICO fund raising scam)
