We will have a competition for the funniest prank on YouTube tomorrow (27/02/16) at 1pm UTC.
Prize: 1st place - 100bits, (10,000 Satoshi)

All you need to do to enter, is post your best YouTube video link of the funniest prank you can find into chat, participants will have 30 minutes.

Competition will end at 2pm UTC
.

If possible than kindly increase prize money, current amount looking just waste of time.
Yeah i think increasing the prize to 20/25k sat would be nice, all we have to do is find a funny video link right?

Hey guys, I think I need to explain a bit. We've been doing these competitions for a while now. It all started when we enabled youtube and imgur embeds in the chat on FastBets:

Then we started to host small competitions like: "I'm gonna give 100bit to the user that can post the best trailer to a horror movie" (the movie "Maniac" won). Was really not about the coins, but a lot of fun. So we wanted to share the fun with the bitcointalk community.

Do understand that taken out of context this might seem odd. For this reason we're gonna up the prize to 250bit=25000satoshi tomorrow. Might go down in the future again, we'll see Smiley
Ah okay i get it now, so it's not just a onetime competition/giveaway. it's cool if you set prize down to 10k sat or lower. Wink

I also think that competition which 100 bits reward is some kind of prank, op need to be increase the reward amount to keep engage more people there to chase this but 100 bits is not looking attractive anymore.  Wink

No offense, but dont you think that the prize is quite low? IMHO, 100bits for whatever kind of competition is not worth enough.

We will have a competition for the funniest prank
OP seems to have won this competition, total prize of 100 bits coolest prank this year I do not think a big site like fastbet offering a competition prize 100 bits ( 10000 satoshi )  Sad  Undecided

That is in fact an excellent idea. I'll have to look into how much work implementing this would be (first guess, not that much). That would really give me best of both worlds, convenience for the player and security for myself. Thanks Smiley
Haha, well I'm glad to be of assistance! Hopefully every user of FastBets will be able to see this new feature in play very soon! It's not that difficult to add in, so I assume you won't have too much trouble with it.

Thanks mate, as always, great input. Will be put into action soon Smiley

Isn't there, though, an alternate way, to prevent any money loss? You could let them gamble and only withdraw when they have a confirmation. That way, you can let people deposit with 0 confirmations and still play, but when they're done playing, they can withdraw as long as they're not double-spending. Another thing about this is that probably during the time they gamble (if they don't all-in) their confirmation usually goes through.

FastBets is now accepting 0-confirmation deposits.

That sounds sweet for the average casino user, but is BlockCypher reliable enough to risk being scammed for a potentially large deposit? Also, how does it work - if it turns out to be a double spend, do the coins and any winnings/withdrawals immediately get denied?

Great job, by the way.

What the confidence factor does is it "predicts the likelihood of an attempted double-spend succeeding against a transaction". We will accept the deposit when that likelihood is below 0.1%. In case a double spend would go through, we'd have to pay for that from our hot wallet. As our cold wallet is always much bigger than the player funds, player funds are not at risk.

I'm happy to take a small risk of being victim to a double spend attack if I can improve the user experience. Smiley

As for the reliability of blockcyper, they are a company incorporated in California, with a very respectable team, and a bunch of world class investors. I have no doubt in my mind that they are reliable. (http://www.blockcypher.com)

Taking a risk for double spend attack is  ot a wise thing to do. People are never in for the game or the feature but only for the money. You will be risking your money with nothing to gain back which is stupid imo. There are lot of cases at the other site where user should have loss huge but they attempted the double spend and got it back

Thanks for your input Falconer but I respectfully disagree Smiley I've mentioned before that all I'm doing here is copying stuff I like. I lately came across an article by Eric Voorhees (founder of SatoshiDice, godfather of Bitcoin gambling, now CEO of ShapeShift) where he talkes about his experience with accepting 0-conf deposits at Satoshidice

Source is well worth reading btw: https://shapeshift.io/site/blog/2015/12/01/note-ceo-erik-voorhees-appeal-zero-conf#sthash.7QZDEVAU.dpuf

I'm just gonna try to do the same thing. If I get a problem, I can change one line of code and go back requiring 1-conf on a deposit.
