I can't give a specific timeline.  It will depend on intra-day volatility, how well MtGox handles the load, the effect on other exchanges, spread between exchanges, etc.

We aren't closing we just can't operate in a scenario where the price changes 30% in a hour.

We have funds but we are not accepting orders.  Volatility is simply too high to have any realistic price discovery.
Yeah, make sense. So do you think you'll be accepting orders are some point after Gox trading restarts? Perhaps after we see where it settles?

If you guys keep getting backed up or too much traffic just keep raising the rates to extreme to slow people down. I think that's better then just shutting things down, right? Maybe that's a little too drastic.

Maybe something more convenient for us and profitable for them would be a bidding system.  So have the system say "we process transactions 4 times per day, and while we try to get to everyone, if there are not enough available funds at the close of the next transaction processing time, those that have bid the highest percentage fee will receive first priority".  Or, having the rate rise automatically as the available funds go down (as you said) is also a good option.  Everyone agrees that this service is completely awesome and reliable; if I needed funds on that day, I'd certainly pay a premium to cash in through the site since I know it will be hassle free.

Going to reload ACH and Paypal or wait till things settle?

ps

I got so many requests that I enabled sales on the site again.  PayPal and Bank funding available.
I did increase the margin by about 1% (lowering the price we buy at) to compensate for the risk and volatility out there right now.
I intend to restore normal pricing once the markets show some reduce volatility.

Can't say if it is a better to sell now or wait really depends on where we end up stabilizing at but the option is open.

I think ACH is out again. I have very bad timing. I've tried to sell my coins during the past few weeks and every time the funds get filled up again I'm not around. This isn't FC4B's fault at all, I'm just venting. Now I see BTC is at $135, when the last time I looked were around $240. Holy cow batman, that's  a huge fall. Mt Gox's low is $105. WOWzers. What is going on today making the value drop? And I can only assume LOTS of people are trying to sell before they go back down to double digits. At least that's what I'm guessing. Good luck everyone, what a ride.

Update:  Fee on PayPal transactions raised to 2%.

This is due to a change in the fee structure PayPal charges us, combined with the delay it takes us in funding PayPal account.  Corporate PayPal accounts can't use "instant funding" for large volume transactions.  We need to slowly fund the PayPal account by ACH and only once funds clear can we send payments.  The lag time of 4-5 business days reduces the effective use of capital relative to other payment methods.

Our ACH option continues to be no fee and we recommend it to clients looking for an economical choice.  For those needing large amounts of funds quickly the $20 flat fee on Bank Wires makes it more economical than PayPal on transactions over $1,000.

Does FC4B have any kind of alert system to let a potential bitcoin seller there are funds available? It is difficult for me to be in front of the computer every minute checking the status of available funds. I think ACH is out again or very low. Thanks.

that would be a great idea an alert system we could subscribe to Smiley

Jeebuz! If they did that the sudden flood of orders would probably melt their servers down!

What they really need is enough capital to meet demand. They certainly can't be making money off of FC4B with it just sitting there.

I'm sure they still are growing. They've probably grown quite a bit in the past few months alone. I see more and more bitcoin dealers/sellers pop up here and there, so at least that keeps the competition and fees at a decent level.

They don't just sit there. They are always re-funding their sources when they can and always answer questions very quickly when asked. Even though their fees are quite small, I'm sure they make very good money with all the transactions they have. A penny isn't worth much, but when you have a million of them it is an entirely different story.
