An example of the negative impact of gambling addiction that always encourages an addict to do many things to continue gambling.
But from the news I heard, the case actually started from economic difficulties that forced a father to sell his child. And in my opinion, a father who sold his child did not seem to be an old gambler but a new gambler who had a mindset of doubling money from gambling.
So in this case, it is not yet fully clear whether the father was addicted to gambling or was just venting his depression from the difficulty of meeting economic needs and had the thought of doubling money from gambling.

Such a horrible story that is beyond gambling addiction, who would even thought of doing such a thing especially to your baby. There's something wrong mentally to that person, firstly, he kidnap is own son as the mother is unaware of what's happening and sold him of through social media platform. There's too much wrong with that article and that father and the person who bought should be punished for the crimes they've done.

The story also said that the man advertised the sale of his child on Facebook and I'm wondering if Facebook is aware this.
Surely facebook is not aware since this illegal. Probably this idiot guy use different keyword to bypass Facebook security for illegal sell.
Sadly, facebook isn't really that strict with their posting security especially if the posts does not hit certain keywords or if the post isn't posted as a listing for sale.

Most people would do anything to keep funding their gambling addiction, it's quite sad that a father would do that to his own child just to satisfy his gambling addiction, gambling has indeed caused more harm than good and it's now a global catastrophe because it's constantly making a lot of people do irrational things. This shouldn't be legal , he should be arrested for this act there's absolutely no difference between this and trafficking, there are on the same scale. This is what gambling addiction can do so make sure you don't get influenced by the toxicity of it.

The man sold his baby to pay his debts and ended up using the money realised from the sales to gamble. I don't know who is more sick between the gambler who sold his child and the buyer who is comfortable buying a child. I know people can go to any length to gamble, but that action taken by that gambler should not be overlooked. That is broad daylight human trafficking just to raise money to gamble. No one is safe around him anymore, if he is given another chance, he would cause more harm. Aside from just gambling, he is notorious and very irresponsible. That man's level of addiction has gotten to the worst stage and it will be best he is is taken to any correctional centre where he will learn a new lifestyle.

That’s ridiculous and really sad. I can’t believe that any doting Father would do something like that. Addiction is tough and comes in many forms but the bond between parent and child should override any urge to gamble.

I hope the kid is OK now, they deserve better parents than somebody like the Father. He is a really pathetic excuse for a man.

This is just wrong on so many levels and just goes to show that certain people will be so
affected by addiction they would do literally anything.

Obviously to I would say all of us of these points
Its wrong to sell another human being let alone your own child
Its wrong criminal to buy another human

Just goes to show how addicted the guy was but to be honest I am not surprised at all
as to the depths a human can reach even when an addiction has to be fed.

That is really a very bad behavior done by a father, I understand that the impact of gambling addiction can indeed make someone do anything but I don't think it's up to someone who is desperate to sell their own flesh and blood, and I think it's clear that it seems like the person is already in a really chronic cycle of addiction so that he is able to reach such a crazy decision by selling his child without his wife's knowledge.

In the end, of course, this is a tragic incident that we can use as a valuable lesson about why we really have to avoid gambling addiction in various ways, because this incident is an example that when someone is addicted to gambling, their common sense will disappear.

So if you are a fairly active gambler, from now on reduce your involvement in gambling, limit your time and money and learn to be a responsible gambler by realizing and emphasizing that losing is a part or a natural thing that happens in the game.

This is a serious case of extremely addictions to gambling and at that same time the case of taking gambling too far by relying so much on the instinct that you will always prioritize money over other things and taking gambling as the means to get rich quick, I think bought the buyer of the baby and the father that make that attempt should be arrested and jail for child trafficking and other human right crimes.

Op I don't think the Topic tally with the story. From what you said and what is in the article, it is called misappropriation of funds. He didn't sell the kid to play gamble but to pay debt but was diverted to Gambling. Though that is very bad of the father and the people who but the kid. Those who bought the kid are illegal child trafficking persons. If it was orphan baby home, they would have some legal procedures which would have involved the two parents to acknowledge their conscience before the process would have been activated. Before a gambler diverts funds meant for another thing, he has thought that he would win the game and double the capital so he can pay the debt and use the remaining balance to do another. Or if the balance is big enough to settle the kid for him to take back the kid, he would go back to the person and take the kid back again but things turn around.

I just read the shocking news now on social media and I'm wondering the extreme that people will go to fund their gambling addiction. According to the news, it said that the Indonesian father confessed to selling his baby with the intention to pay his dept but instead ended up gambling with the money. This shows that gambling addiction is a very serious problem, something that can make somebody to get money by all means to fund their crave for gambling.
This is the height of it. I know gambling addiction makes people do some crazy things to satisfy their urge, but this is the worst case I've seen concerning gambling addiction. I believe his chronicity is beyound the ordinary. This is madness of gambling addiction. I don't see what will make someone to sell his child to settle his dept and still use the fund to gamble. Well it's not a new thing I guess people use their children for money ritual. so selling a child is even the least of it, but it is not encouraging.

The story also said that the man advertised the sale of his child on Facebook and I'm wondering if Facebook is aware this. If this story is true that means that people advertise child trafficking through Facebook in Indonesia. This should be seriously discouraged.
I don't think people advertise Child trafficking on Facebook in Indonesia. maybe people thought it was a joke or prank when he first posted it on Facebook until it becomes a reality. Because this days people practice a reckless attitude called "prank" on social media and when the case becomes reality people can't spot the difference between prank and reality anymore. Sometimes it is good when people see something going wrong it should be cautioned immediately so that if the person is even nursing the idea it will die in them.

I'm sure it could happen not only because of gambling addiction. The mentality of such a father must be sick. Gambling addiction that ends up selling assets until they run out or even committing crimes is still understandable. But selling their own child, the parent must be sick if. Or another possibility, the father may be part of a human trafficking syndicate.

A baby who has not yet sinned, why should he be sacrificed for a crazy gambler?

That is insane story where father willing to sell his own baby for his debt but that father ended up gambling. I guess many things happens like that in social media but if there is no report from other people related to that news, Facebook will not do anything. It needs a serious attention from Facebook and the government who read that news and investigate and find the father. It is wrong doing that because of debt or for gambling.

Oh poor baby that belongs to an addicted father. Is this what addiction can do to someone to the point of selling out his own child to satisfy his addiction. Addiction is a big problem and that is the consequences of gambling for profit without a second thought of thinking if it is possible or not.

I am speechless and don't know what to say on this topic. However, this should a a good reason why people gambling for profit should take of that mentality from their head so that they don't end up in addiction and do all sort of unimaginable things. It seems addiction can make one lose his mind and senses too.

The father is out of his mind. This is not a work of a normal mind, You can sell anything but never your child. There is a crime attached to this, and the father will eventually go to prison if proven guilty, You really can do anything if your mind is preoccupied with gambling; it will cloud your decision, I pity the father; he should go to rehabilitation before serving his sentence if found guilty, this usually happen in third world country where poverty is rampant and people will do anything just to survive.

Gambling addiction is a very serious addiction. Gambling addiction can cause people to do any despicable thing even in a moment. Here is the man who sold his own 11 month old son to gamble and took the money to gamble, the father has no right to be a father. Such gambling addicts should be punished to the fullest extent of the law to see that unique people can be reformed. Moreover, every sector in Indonesia should be aware, especially when that person posted on Facebook, there must be known people who saw it, who did not say anything, those people should be governed by the law. Such gambling should be banned by the government where innocent children are not safe.

The city's top cop as said in the article knew children re being sold in facebook with prices ranging from 10-15M in local currency.  But they are probably not monitoring it every now and then even when its a common thing. Its more surprising to know buying and selling children is common. After investigation those buyers were also arrested which the authorities suspected them to be part of a larger human trafficking network.

That's what gambling addiction can do. Selling their flash and blood seem to be just nothing to the addict as long as he can gamble. The mother should get rid of this man, he brings nothing to the family anymore.
More and more children are being sold in Indonesia and it's not something just started but has been prevailing for a very long time now. Eight people have been reported to be arrested so far. The painful part is that parents were being arrested for selling their kids. Some people act as agents/scouts. While others make pre-orders online and these kinds of content have been going through Facebook without any security measures taking place.

Gambling addiction, Money addiction, sex addiction, and drug addiction can push someone to do such evil. Addiction in general is very dangerous and its hard to quit addiction.

Sad to see this news... Where a father has the heart to sell his own child. How barbaric.

I read the news a few days ago where the results of trading this child were spent in 1 week, he said he sold his child on the pretext of economic difficulties and his wife did not know because she was busy working.

From the police press conference said - This perpetrator bought 2 mobile phones and the rest was for gambling.

All perpetrators have been responded to... The one who bought and sold his own father...

This is how if gambling has no sense of responsibility, they will do anything to fulfill their gambling desires.

Another inhuman behavior by a chain and addicted gambler. Sometimes i wonder where some people have kept their conscience, selling a baby just because of gambling is a very extreme and mean thing to do.

My question is didn't his friends or people who are aware of this on facebook report him to the police immediately and they charge him for child selling? this is to show that people are just so careless now. Hardly you will see people that are ready to seek justice for others again as most people are more interested in whatever that concerns them alone, too bad.

Gambling addiction as a result of irresponsible gambling has caused many people to do things that they are not proud of. Things that in many years to come will hunt them and they may not be able to forgive themselves leading to depression and suicidal tendencies. This is a call for more safe spaces for gambling addicts to be supported and not shamed. We need more Civil societies and NGOs whose targrt population will include these people. They need all the help they can get. Which may include but not limited giving them small grants to pay of their gambling debts based on some stringent conditions, providing psychological support, as well as some skill so that they can be employed.

I saw this news on Facebook today, I was surprised to see this being discussed on the forum too, when I saw it I felt sad, being a father is a tough task and a great responsibility and reading this is bizarre and too scary, this person needs serious treatment, I can imagine the situation of his wife, imagine the pain...

And it's not about gambling addictions, human beings are capable of doing anything in desperate situations, it's up to each one of us to control our mind, to filter before making serious decisions.
