At least, I don't know if when someone has a favorite team for a long time, but when the team is in bad performance and continues to lose, will they still choose their team in the bet or maybe they don't bet and will just watch it. I might be that it could also happen, or maybe they  will force a bet by choosing the opposing team that is basically in good performance and is likely to win and make it win the bet too. But if that really happens, I think it doesn't matter, because in betting at least we need a win in our bet and not to keep putting hope in a team that has  no chance of winning.
I think the favorite team depends only on pleasure, not on bets. For bet, anyone takes part on that team whose team winning chance is higher than the opposition even if the opposition is his/her favorite team. My favorite team doesn't depend on money but depends on pleasure.

However I’m curious whether some of you have changed your favorite teams over the years. It is not as simple as having a different favorite food compared to when you were 10. A favorite sport team, to me at least, will always be your favorite. So if you did change your favorite team, what was the reason?

If we are sports lovers, especially football, it is undeniable that where we live or were born, the city where a club stands usually becomes a favorite team that will probably always stick wherever we go. I have a local favorite team, even though the team has gone bankrupt, aka no longer exists. However, I still remember the memories recorded when they lifted the League trophy. In the European League, several clubs are my favorite teams, including La Liga and the Premier League. As for Serie A, I used to really like Roma since the time of Toti, Batistusta, Casano and other players. But now I don't even watch Serie A anymore, for some reason the style and football are not so interesting anymore in the era of Modern football. For now, AS Roma is not a favorite team, although sometimes I watch their matches when they compete in other competitions such as the Europa League. The reason is, maybe because in the past our national TV broadcasts no longer broadcast Serie A and tended to be more on the Premier League and La Liga. Maybe that's one of the reasons, I'm no longer as enthusiastic as I used to be when watching my favorite team. however, I remember the last time I saw Roma lifting the League trophy under Capello. I'm sure that we football fans have some favorite teams in each League, even if our team is not in the ideal situation as when it was mighty.

I don't have a favorite team. Sometimes I support the national team, sometimes the local football team, but when it comes to sports betting, I separate earnings and favorite teams. In general, it is not advisable to have favorites in betting. Some experts even recommend betting against your favorite team. They argue this as follows: if your favorite team wins, you will enjoy the game, and if it loses and the team you bet on wins, you will earn. It turns out that this is a kind of win-win strategy. Such a strategy combines both enjoying the game and the possibility of making a profit.
Even if you don't have a favorite team yet you must take part on a team and I think that team is favourite to you for that moment. If you do can't think about the team as favorite then you might not place bet on them. And if you are confidence about a team means that is favourite for you for that match and that may turn you into a winer.

I don't change team anyhow even though the team is not performing well at the moment, because I no it will not going to be like that forever with the team. Chelsea is my favorite team since I join sports, and it will continue to be my favorite team until I have reason to change to another team because they always signed in talented and young players that will spend more years to help the team to achieve their goals,  but that one doesn't mean if I want to bet in any games I will bet for their favour, because I no they are not consistency in their winning in this tournament but they have squads that will make their fans proud in the future.

I have noticed it from many people in the gambling center, they don't use to bet for the favour of their team when they know that their team don't have the capacity to win the game than to make the team that have the capacity to win the game to be their favour in that bet.

We know in different games we have different supported teams because we know how does giving a support into them well even though they didn't notice us as much but it hit different if they play the game we know they can easily win but still I'm through out of years we know there's a changes on it like management and players now it depends on the performance they will show in the game sometimes lost the interest of they didn't play well because of their poor communication and team player skill it's only seen a rare case that they have in the same team from the previous years.

One thing that's constant with any team in the league you're interested in is that, they don't stick with their roster forever. There will always changes in the rotations, coaching staffs, starters, and even the superstars.
Adjustments are inevitable especially when the management and coaching staff see it fit.
I hate it when the 2020 Lakers roster got half their roster got waived after they won a championship.
Right now, I'm still hoping they will have their momentum back to become a championship contender team again.

The team I support must have competition today, because I support my favorite team. Manchester United team is not performing well this season, but I have not left Manchester United team. Today's game I bet on Manchester United team, because their performance today will surely delight the audience and I am sitting in front of the TV screen. And will compete in just about an hour, but of course the chances of winning today's match are very high but let's see what result the favorite team can present to the visitors in the end.

A favorite sport team, to me at least, will always be your favorite. So if you did change your favorite team, what was the reason?
For me I was a man united fan back then but I was not that intense as others do, I just like them but never bothered to take it to another level. At a point I just slide away because of constant failure. Although it is difficult for most people to continue being a fan to a failing club. Because you must face humiliation and feel intemedated among friends and other counterparts who rep another club. The most annoying part of being a fan and see your club lose back to back in a season and you can't even argue, talk or but your chest that your club will do better this time and they suprise you. Instead they keep on disappointing you, so I think the possible reason that causes most fan to slid away is constant losing of their club and not being able to regroup for positive result.

We are humans with emotions as natural trait hence we tend to react most times towards the direction of our emotion, growing as a boy Arsenal has been my favorite club which I admires so much because my favorite cousin was also an Arsenal fan but at some point for me based on the humiliation and  mockery gotten from other club fans whenever Arsenal loses match was much then as a boy it usually hurt me too, I became a neutral body of only supporting any winning team at any matches, that was childish for me then but now am  strong enough to face any humiliation from others at the spot of my favorite team Lossing game, am now fully back to my favorite club Arsenal.

OP, I like you to know that people do not just support a club, they support it for reasons, so I wonder why the person is still supporting the club if the reason is defeated. If your reason to support a club is because they are in your favourite city, that is better, it is not going anywhere, it is permanent. But for someone who supported a club because they are winning, or because his best player was transferred there, or his favourite coach is leading it, you can't blame them if they withdraw their support when things change, for the factor of supporting them is no permanent.
-snip-
But for people who are indeed part of the club's fans, that does exist. consistently never change clubs even in a slump. I know a friend of mine who is like that. no matter how the team develops, he will always defend and support the club.
As I said, it always varies and the persistence of supporting a club must come directly from the city it is situated, otherwise, the support may waver due to many factors like the dwindling performance stat, the departure of your preferred personality etc. However, in addition to loving the city itself, the club may just be an attraction. Maybe a child grew up to see his father supporting Arsenal, for instance, that love could stick forever and such are the true fans of a club regardless of the situation.

Fans and sports teams I believe are synchronous in one way or the other. I think it is very hard for a die hard fan to leave his favourite team though they might been reasons for leaving.

I have friends both male and female leave their favorite team because a favourite player who they enjoyed his skills, performance, tricks and goals left to another team. Sometimes prolonged losing streak, lack of participation from the team and influence have made them change their mind.

Honestly, I do not judge. People's interest changes. Team management should always play vital role in keeping their fan and increasing them because revenue are generated through purchase of tickets.

I have been a staunch Chelsea fan from the early 2000s when I was aged and tall enough to watch football at viewing centers and my gaze not covered. I loved the club back then because of their hiring African players and their strong play pattern. The fun reduced when they lost to Manchester united on penalties during UCL finals 2007, but I stayed strong and true to them because the Manchester supporters at my area then were very problematic and vulgar while the Chelsea supporters were joyous and happy people. I always enjoy watching their match and have remained a supporter till date.

When I started gambling, I don't include Chelsea on my coupons so much since emotions might prevent me from watching their match and enjoying our wins and losses, I don't think I would ever leave Chelsea for any other club as my best European club, Also I have bests in other league like Real Madrid for Spain, Inter for Germany, but on the overall, Chelsea is the club for me.

That means that someone does not support the club or other factors such as their favorite player or favorite coach. that can happen and some fans of big players like Ronaldo have also uploaded Ronaldo's jersey collection in various clubs. his support for the club must be just from the influence of his idol player, and if the player moves then he will support the club where the player plays.
But for people who are indeed part of the club's fans, that does exist. consistently never change clubs even in a slump. I know a friend of mine who is like that. no matter how the team develops, he will always defend and support the club.

I will have to answer this question with gambling intention otherwise it remains unchanged.
While gambling I do away favorite team or clubs but instead stick to my winning purpose only, and if booking a match I won't consider my team or club but giving winning to those which I think are to win the match. The reason is that there is money involved and I wouldn't want to lose my money by giving them winning at last they failed me without any results from them, but if I don't stake money then I will keep supporting my team to win.

Yes that makes sense. You can support your favourite team normally but bet
against them if you think they are going to be beaten.

I do this also with my favourite team only when its obvious they are going to be beaten

As per the OP's question, yes I have changed my favourite team. I follow Rugby
and grew up following the Leinster team in Ireland but after moving to the province
many years later I started following the Connacht team to be part of the support
group in the area. I still follow Leinster too though. and a tually any of the Irish
teams when they are playing in the different leagues

Exactly, favourite teams can't always be winners every time, there will be bad seasons and there will be good seasons, having fun is different from trying to make money off sport bets. It will be stupid to place bet on your favourite team when you know that they aren't in good shape based on how they have been active in the season.

Some will say it is pure betrayer to place a bet on the opponent and not your favourite team, I think it is a nonsense and stupid talk, because you placing bet on your favourite team won't boost their skills in anyway, they don't even have a clue that you place a bet on them.

Sports fan can be funny at times, they are too in love with their favourite team and there is nothing bad here but when it comes to money things should be different, its called been wise.
There will be a bad seasons for every team because they will meet the strong and good opponents that can beat them. That is why we must take a look at the current situation and search for more info to see if our favorite team have the opportunity to win from many teams. If they don't have a big chance to win, we don't have to support them and leave it like that until they can have the chance to win. Placing a bet on the opponent is not a betrayer but that is because we can be wise with the current situation that is happen. We don't want to waste our money by pick the wrong team that can not bring us the win.

But we know what will they do with their favorite team and many of them still support their team even if they know that the chance to win is not too big. That will depends on their consideration to still support or leave their team so they must responsible with their decision.

Even if your favorite team constantly loses or shows bad performance, you are still a fan and you are still hoping for them to gain back momentum and start winning again. If someone were to change the team they support based on the result, how fun will that be? Nothing will bring a sports fan more delight than seeing their favorite team climb their way up to the top.

However I’m curious whether some of you have changed your favorite teams over the years. It is not as simple as having a different favorite food compared to when you were 10. A favorite sport team, to me at least, will always be your favorite. So if you did change your favorite team, what was the reason?
It is only one who don not understand sport that will change his team whenever they are performing very poor. Sport is a game and you know what a game is all about, winning is not permanent and losing is not also permanent that is why real supporters will always stick to their team even if they are losing for a long time because they understand it is not permanent.

If people change team due to poor performance it means they will always change a new team because thst very team they choose to support will not win forever and the day they starts performing poor and start losing they will look for another new team to support.  As one who understands the game of sport, you would always remain in good times and tough times. Failure of team not winning at the moment should never be a reason to change to a new team.

It's definitely not a good thing to bet on a losing team no matter what. Most time some gamblers just want to support their team I guess these are the set of gamblers that plays for fun. But those who want to make some profits will not fold their hands and act blindly even when their team is on the losing end. It's not bad to bet on another team or against your favorite when they are losing. So long you can make some profits, they still remain your favorite regardless. I still have my favorite team, even though most times they don't win.. but I won't be closing my eyes to place bets on them...

It's true that each individual is attracted to a football club for a reason, either because of the excellent performance of a player, coach or the entire team performance. Hence, most people are likely to leave a club when their favorite player moved to a different club during a transfer season. But when it comes to me, I have always been a strong Manchester City's fan right from day one due to their excellent performance, and hope to remain a strong Manchester City fan, weather they win or lose a game, because in a long run, I'm always rest assured of they playing an excellent game.
Those who fan a particular club simply because of a player in that club, and would immediately stop fanning that club when that player is sold off, and would go one to fan the club that bought that player over, such person or persons were never a fan of the club, but only a fan of that player, and would only fan clubs where that player plays for.

As for me, like I did mentioned in my previous comment here, I am a strong Arsenal fan, and I started fanning this club from when I was a teenager way back 2005/2006, back then, Arsenal was one of the worst football club, but that didn't deter me from liking them, since then, several players have passed through the club and gone their way, and it has been no leave, no transfer for me, and the mystery is, I can't tell why I like this club.
