However I’m curious whether some of you have changed your favorite teams over the years. It is not as simple as having a different favorite food compared to when you were 10. A favorite sport team, to me at least, will always be your favorite. So if you did change your favorite team, what was the reason?

It's true that each individual is attracted to a football club for a reason, either because of the excellent performance of a player, coach or the entire team performance. Hence, most people are likely to leave a club when their favorite player moved to a different club during a transfer season. But when it comes to me, I have always been a strong Manchester City's fan right from day one due to their excellent performance, and hope to remain a strong Manchester City fan, weather they win or lose a game, because in a long run, I'm always rest assured of they playing an excellent game.

The important thing on here is that you do bet up on a particular sport you do like and doesnt matter on what team as long you do seem that they do likely win up the game then this will be your choice
on which of course it will really be always the favorite but we do know that upsets do really happen. Doesnt matter whether you will be focusing into the team or a certain player, as long you do enjoy
on what you are doing and not really chasing up on making money then you are really just that doing fine.
Yes, any team doesn't matter because the important thing is the victory and who is strong then he will be chosen, rather than just waiting for the favorite tum who doesn't even get the match schedule, or they are weak enough to enter the next round.

I also don't impose too much on the bets that I will make, if it is the best team I will probably place my bet, but with the betting limit that I have determined.
Betting also needs planning and some research to provide satisfactory results, not just betting and seeing the results.

There are many factors why a team keeps on losing. And we as fans becomes analysts for the time being.

But it's just all about being a fan and having some side comments on what we think is right for the beloved team that we're supporting.
We should be a wise fan to our favorite team. We don't have to stay to support them if they can not learns from their mistake and can not improves their performance. They can not win against the other team if they don't want to learn more.

That is why we must smart to look the conditions and not place a betting to our favorite team if they don't have a chance to win against the opponent. We can bet for them when they can really win so we can also win the money.

Exactly, favourite teams can't always be winners every time, there will be bad seasons and there will be good seasons, having fun is different from trying to make money off sport bets. It will be stupid to place bet on your favourite team when you know that they aren't in good shape based on how they have been active in the season.

Some will say it is pure betrayer to place a bet on the opponent and not your favourite team, I think it is a nonsense and stupid talk, because you placing bet on your favourite team won't boost their skills in anyway, they don't even have a clue that you place a bet on them.

Sports fan can be funny at times, they are too in love with their favourite team and there is nothing bad here but when it comes to money things should be different, its called been wise.

Talking about club sports such as football, there are two types of fans. One is those who like a team because of one or more players in that team, and as soon as those players aren't in that team anymore, they stop supporting or liking the team and might start supporting the team where those players moved. The other type of fans are those who support a whole team, it might have to do with players, but mostly, it will be because the club is from where they live, and such fans won't care about specific players leaving the club or team and they will still support the same team.

For me, specifically, I have always been from the first category and I have liked clubs and teams where my favorite player was. I have always liked Cristiano Ronaldo, so I was very fond of every club he was a part of, and I loved watching those games and always wished the team where he was playing would win. However, of all the clubs he has been a part of, Real Madrid has been my favorite club, and I somehow still have a soft corner for that club even when he isn't there.

Although I love sports especially football and even, when I was a teenager I went to a football school. But honestly, I never really had a favorite team or player even though I also know that there are many great and  famous players and also about great teams in the world. But after I realized, I only respect them with the great achievements they get, but I don't really like or favor the team or player concerned. Thus, I will be able to be more flexible when it comes to choosing a team in betting, because I only respect their achievements  not being their fan.

I do change my favorite teams when they become clowns. It's normal for a fan to look for a better team that's always in the semis or finals.

Football, basketball, hockey, and any other team sports. We all have passion for these sports but you rarely see someone who's a loyal fan even after a lot of roster changes.
That is normal if we change our favorite teams when they can not improves their performance in many matches. We don't want to see our favorite team lose many times and usually, if they realize what they need to fix, their performance can do better than before. But if they can not fix that, their performance will still down and that is the time for us to change our team to another one. I guess some people still pick their favorite team no matter what is their condition because they will support that team and hopes that their team can do better someday.

It's been more than 15 years that I've known Man.UTD and until today I've never changed my favorite team from that club, even I myself don't really know the reason why, but I'm just captivated by that club and its history. From its golden age until now in its slump, I still love this club even when some people mock me as a MU lover but I don't switch myself to another club. Maybe for some people it sounds a little strange, but I don't think there's anything wrong with loving and being proud of your favorite club, because in my opinion a true fan is not only about supporting when your club is on top, but when it's down you also need to be there.

Most time on this board, I do discuss about and against my favorite team, I have been a fan of that club for more than 10 years now and what actually made me their fan was because I love how they were winning back in th days but the team seem not to be doing so well as before but yet, I still fan them.

Since long ago I have been an AC Milan fan, my father has an important influence on my favorite team, because he is also an AC Milan fan, every weekend he always takes me to watch his favorite team until the time I also started to like this team. I have never changed my favorite team, so I have no experience and cannot share my reasons for changing my favorite team. Rossoneri will always be in my heart.

Your question has nothing to do with sports betting. Why do you ask this question on the Gambling Discussion forum?
I've been a fan of a football team in my country since I was 10 years old. That was 25 years ago and I will never change my favorite team.
Maybe you should add some gambling related questions to your forum thread. Questions like "how often do you bet for your favorite team?" or "do you place bets on your favorite team losing a game?", but I remember that some of those questions were asked in older forum threads.

Many years ago, straight out of high school, I was a fan of Arsenal because that was the team members of my household supported. I think this was just about the period when we had Thierry Henry and the other notables in the team. A little after then, I switched sides based on peer influences, I think it was my best friend. I changed support an got another favourite team, Barcelona. Majorly because of Samuel Eto, Ronaldihno. When they were leaving the stage, I once again changed favourite team to Real Madrid. Honestly, it wasn't because of Ronaldo but because of the whole team who were playing fantastically well at that time. I would later support Bayern Munich briefly before I settled for not having any favorites. It was just too stressful changing teams and emotionally not good for me. Now, I love good football and enjoy. That's why the news of a change of manager for Man U didn't bother me one bit.

Some of us have more difficulties keeping a team as favourite than others. In the Spanish League, which is the one I mainly follow, it is not the same to be loyal over time if your favourite team is Real Madrid or Barça, or even Atlético de Madrid, than if it is any other one. At least your results will be statistically better.

In my case, I bet little and for fun, so I don't have much trouble in losing a few bucks from time to time when my team loses. The happiness is double when they win, so I feel compensated. But if I bet to win, staying loyal to my club would be sad, and expensive.

I will have to answer this question with gambling intention otherwise it remains unchanged.
While gambling I do away favorite team or clubs but instead stick to my winning purpose only, and if booking a match I won't consider my team or club but giving winning to those which I think are to win the match. The reason is that there is money involved and I wouldn't want to lose my money by giving them winning at last they failed me without any results from them, but if I don't stake money then I will keep supporting my team to win.

For me I was a man united fan back then but I was not that intense as others do, I just like them but never bothered to take it to another level. At a point I just slide away because of constant failure. Although it is difficult for most people to continue being a fan to a failing club. Because you must face humiliation and feel intemedated among friends and other counterparts who rep another club. The most annoying part of being a fan and see your club lose back to back in a season and you can't even argue, talk or but your chest that your club will do better this time and they suprise you. Instead they keep on disappointing you, so I think the possible reason that causes most fan to slid away is constant losing of their club and not being able to regroup for positive result.
Real dedicated fans don't change team because constant failure, sometimes football team faces challenges so as a fan leaving them at difficult time really shown you are not a die hard fan because I don't believe it will be possible for a to always be losing matches sometimes they win and sometimes they loss so we are suppose to be with them in a good and a bad season.
Am a die hard Manchester United fan their performance this season really made me to change team but I said not for I have been Manchester United fan since 2003 so it was very hard for me to change team and switch to another now that they not performing well I believe they won't continue like that for long.
Am still a Manchester United fan till last breath.

I am basically a football lover that's why I hate the game of football the most. In the past I was addicted to Manchester United team, because Manchester United performed very badly in the current position and I gambled against them again and again.  Later I suspended betting on my favorite team, but I didn't quit.
The question here is that it is normal to have a favorite team but it is not easy to change, because if you focus too much on your team and bet you will definitely lose. So currently I favor other teams more for gambling because I need to win the bet the most, that's why I postpone betting on favorite team.

Well people really change especially if they experienced something not good on a team , such as having consecutive big losses after all . So i think even you as a huge fan of the team for sure you will jump out as well.  Coz just  imagine if you were on the situation, is it worthy to stay?.  Cheesy I think that's a big mistake ,wherein much better to pick a new favorite team that for us as well we can get benefits after all. And that will be fair when it comes supporting a team. Give and take.

I moved once, but I was still a child and my grandparents blackmailed me a lot.

Today I am a fanatic fan of at least two teams... one national (Brazilian) and one European.

I hope they never play in a world championship, because if that happens I don't know who I would root for.

The interesting thing is that we even bet in favor of our favorite teams, even when we know they have little chance of winning a match. Has anyone here ever bet against their favorite team?

The most I have managed to do is stop betting on certain matches, because it makes no sense for me to root for someone but bet against them.

For fanatic bettors, there are two weak points... controlling the addiction and being "seduced" into betting against the odds and in favor of their team.
