Is there a stratum-mining-proxy for FC?
I tried to use https://github.com/CryptoManiac/stratum-mining-proxy but it failed, with the following error:

INFO proxy jobs.extranonce2_padding # Extranonce size mismatch. Please report this error to pool operator!

Remember that Novacoin is not only scrypt, but a PPC protocol coin, so it would have to be modified further to mine a Litecoin scrypt type coin.

If you are trying to set up a private pool, you really do not need stratum.

I wrote up a quick guide to using FC with pushpool here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1867412

If you really want to setup stratum, there is a eloipool fork for scrypt coins at:

https://github.com/Tydus/eloipool-litecoin.git

I am reminded of an old tactic they taught you when playing Privateer. Stick to the one ship, and take it out. Don't go after too many at once, or you'll end up not getting any.

Kinda weird that a 1990's space pirate game comes to mind.. lmao

Much like target firing in Starcraft

Wink  But whars the booty!!!!

Currently I hold Bitcoin, Litecoin and Feathercoin. That is what everyones portfolio should look like Smiley

haha, mine needs a little work, the FC is decently padded out, but ltc & btc are scarce.

btc and ltc only trickle in, but give me relatively the same real dollar value amount in comparison. Unsure what fc will ultimately be, so I'm focusing on that myself. It's hard to consider which one to stick my card at.

Does anyone know if the Scrypt parameters of this coin are more memory intensive? That was the "error" ArtForz made at the beginning of Litecoin, the parameters weren't high enough and LTC is not GPU-hostile.

Because if the Scrypt parameters were adjusted and this coin is really GPU-hostile (at least more than LTC), THAT could be interesting...

The major 0.2% pool is closed.  Huh

The fees on alt-pool don't make sense.  They are higher than even Coinotron's Litecoin fees (which also has stratum and low stales).

Set up your own pol or use one of the alternatives.

Just setup your own p2pool and run it locally

Im asking myself why do people do that? I mean if you compare the difficulty, 374.94602749 (Litecoin) to 14.27208129 (FC) and keep in mind that the FC-blocks are 200 and not 50 coins worth, 1000 FC should be worth around 9.5 LC right now (14.27208129 / 374.94602749 / 4) = 9.51 LTC per 1000 FC

Ive seen some people trading big amounts of FC and LTC payin around 12 - 15 LCT per 1000 FC.

Or is my calculation wrong? Right now, there seems to be no reason to keep any miners on LTC.

As I continue to give out coins to users at BTC-E, I noticed a bit of resistance I'd like to be able to overcome on a consistent basis. Here are the tough questions:

- Why bother with Feathercoin?
- Will Feathercoin include any different features to distinguish itself from Litecoin?
- Feathercoin is just a coin that is for people that missed the boat with Litecoin, right?
- We don't need another crypto coin, right? Too many, it confuses the public.
- Feathercoins difficulty is already too high!
- The developers just a few variables and called it a new coin

It would be nice if we had a website that addresses those issues. We could keep a consistent message and point users to the link.

The people on BTC-e want to trade. Put FeatherCoin on an exchange and they'll be interested in it. Until then you'll have a tough job convincing any of them. We have come along way in less than a week but we have much further to go.

The traction we have gained so far has been incredible.

I'm also being realistic. This coin is never going to overtake Litecoin in market value. But that doesn't mean there isn't a place for it, as shown by the huge growth in network hash rate. All those Bitcoin miners are looking for another coin to mine and Feathercoin is looking quite attractive.

I'm also noticing much more in the way of bounties and 'community drive' than most other alt currencies...

We're certainly aligned about 90%, which is great! I agree the people at BTC-e certainly want to trade. However, bring up a coin such as NVC and you'll immediately hear 'Russian Scam Coin'. Bring up NMC and you'll hear how worthless it is because x,y,z.  As a new coin, ** I ** feel we need to be proactive. We have answers that address any type of FUD readily available.

Now, let's fast forward to other areas to spread Feathercoin.  Whether it's a bitcoin forum or a YouTube reply, I'd like to see us actively protecting the coin. Too much misinformation out there, imho, we should seek to professionally address and entice those to join us on this journey.

Hey Guys - which pool is recommended to mine from?

Currently mining on mine.altpool.com - but the hashrate is only 50Mh/s atm, wondered if it's worth switching to fc.dontmine.me ? I have an account there and I know they have over half the network hashrate - will i actually gain anything by moving to a more popular pool?

Thanks

But to be honest: the fc.dontmine.me-pool is working very good, has accurate stats and an actual fee of 0.2%, which is 10 times lower than the mine.altpool.com-pool has. Even if you add a donation of 1% of your income, its stil much "cheaper" to mine there.

That's true but altpool has stratum support and % of stales is <0.5%. Consider it calculating profits.

No I wouldn't switch.  The amount of FC you get won't change.  If you did switch the only advantage might be that you get your payouts a minute faster after you build them up (It is a PPLNS pool afterall).  But FC needs decentralization as much as possible in this early stage.  Even the guy that runs dontmine.me is recommending no one else mine at his pool right now for the sake of the coin.

In short:  No reason to switch, and it benefits the coin to stay where you are.
