Really new to this, CPU mining at 2.5kH/s, how do I know the chance of getting anything?

0.7 FC per day with the actuall difficulty when mining in a pool...

283 days, 18 hours (can vary greatly depending on your luck)

I would recommend joining a pool.

I'm getting near constant stratum restart requests on P2Pool now, no idea what's going on.

On my 7970s i cant use anything higher than -I 13 but again it gives me 700~ per card without any overclocking

I can't complain. It was on a whim a few years back I got AMD over Nvidia, and there have been times I kicked myself for it. but not at this point. THe gaming has pretty much ceased and to see it working and getting reasonable rates by comparison to other hd5850 set ups is ok.

I couldn't afford a 79xx range card at the moment, but there is always a reason to find justification should this one blow up from being caned. It will be where I put my money for sure!

I can still get 120 or so coins a day if I prioritise my use. Wink

eta -

Well I just found out I had an old version of sapphire trixx installed, which was fooling me to thinking I was altering the vdcc. checked cgminer and it was still at the defaults.. so I upgraded trixx and then when I go to set the old settings, bam. lock up. haha.

urgh.. so if I push the voltage up slightly then set my clock/mem to the same settings, it reboots. Crap!

Which means I've been increasing things to get minimal improvements, when I get the same from marginal increases. temps <68 now where I was hovering under 80 to be safe... ohh glad I found that out as it's better to be pulling 320khsash/s at 68c than 85c with desktop use. But now I also feel back to square one in what settings I thought I had sorted. Bit like tuning a bike while drunk, you don't really know till you're going at 120kph down the freeway if the engine will rattle out and you'll fall off. oO

stoopid amd lol

either that or the trixx utility has gone awry and making things up as it goes. I know amd removed the oc support and I need the dlls to affect the changes, but I'd have no idea where to look to get updated unsupported files from amd, the leaders in "Not touching my stuff!" guys!

Get a 79xx amd cards in your computer, and you mine at full speed + use the computer.

Nvidia cards is much slower and its also makes it hard to use the computer Smiley

I've got an HD5850 oc/d to 950/1175 (it fails after a time at 1200) and with intensity 18 I get about 400khashs/s and I'm also running poolers cpu miner pulling about 20khash/s on 4cores with my q6600. But that renders the desktop sluggish and unresponsive as heck.

If I drop the intensity to 13-14 it's barely noticeable. But then I get 200khash/s or less if something takes over the video on the main screen.

I've got 2 monitors, main one on the hd5850 and the secondary (15 inch for notifications etc) on the onboard intel gpu.

My cgminer startup is

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://fc.dontmine.me:28339/ -u [MyLogin] -p x --expiry 1 -s 1 --queue 0 --shaders 1440 -I 14 -g 1 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 5600

but this has been constantly changing as I was trying to sort out the best settings not really know how they affect the rates. I start it at I:14 and then in the miner change it via gpu settings.

Does that seem about right, or do you think there is anything that should be changed?

At this I seem to get the best hash rate from DontMineMe, and I don't really know about the expirey and queue, which Paul has said on is website can be changed now, but I changed them and noticed no difference.

?!

Oh, WOW!!!

Got my miner set up and running after a bit of figuring things out. Not much info on setting up miners for FTC...oh well, it wasn't too difficult.

No sooner than I started my miner did I find my first block...what a surprise! The GPU hadn't even gotten up to full speed yet because it took no more than 2 seconds after starting the miner. Talk about some incredible luck!

Let's see what the next 24 hours brings.

I find it a combination of being able to use the pc and living with a lower hash rate, or stripping back the services and desktop and letting it go at full throttle... I have to stop it pretty much if I want to watch anything on the web tho lol.

It would be entirely different if I had a dedicated rig for it. Set and forget, but this way feels more of an achievement when I see an amount.

Haha 10 fc every 3 hours or so at the current difficulty, if I'm using the PC. Almost IS work Smiley

Yargh!! Just noticed the difficulty has doubled again.

Haha. sleep, you foul sneaking thief of time you !!!

Hey, nice!

I got a few donations when I woke up today, thanks you guys!

So far I'm at :

Estimated Per Payout
0.174838 FC

Account Balance
0.541821 FC

at the is-a-geek pool with ~7Kh/s for 10 hours

56FC in donations, though Smiley

That means, officially, my first 1+ crypto coins EVAR!!!

I'll always remember feathercoin fondly, if only for that. In the meantime it looks like people have hopped on most of the obvious things for setting up a little ecosystem (so to speak) for this. I've got some weak PHP skills and a shared server (or two ) available.  Any ideas for fun things to do?

Since I actually have some I would love to see this go somewhere even if I missed the real 'gold rush' ...

Wink

you can go to http://www.cryptocoinexplorer.com:5750/ and check the senders fc address.

Handy tool to have, I'm hoping to see it added to the FC website when it's complete.

Thank you

Daemon and QT client are separate builds.

Easiest way to compile the QT version is to use QT creator to compile it using the feathercoin-qt.pro file

This goes for any of the coins daemons/clients one compiles themselves.
  Cool

Well that was fun. Got some mining done, nice to see the coins flowing in compared to BTC.

But now what?

Time to set up a proper exchange with LTC/BTC maybe, net hashrate reached 0.5 Gh/s.. it could be interesting!

Been pointing a paltry 17 kh/s at is-a-geek using GUIMiner-scrypt.

Is anyone still tossing out donations? I'd appreciate it greatly. 6mRQ7A3CAt4vHv5QkVeD27yTP12MjTwZXS

I can't find the QT client after building in linux. Am I missing something? I found feathercoind, but not qt, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Hello - I have a little BTC and LTC sitting around (a very small amount) and want to just buy Feathercoin with it.  I don't have enough speed to do anything mining BTC and LTC and figure I'll jump on the FC train.  Let me know if you are interested and feel free to donate to my FC fund below:
