The entry of Di Maria is a little different at this time because indeed they are better able to control the midfield well and with the entry of Di Maria now there are already several very good opportunities.
There are still about 5 minutes left now and the match is getting more interesting to watch because it is certain that the two teams want to maximize this crucial time, especially since they cannot be sure when the penalty shoot-out will be.

What's happening this time also with Argentina vs Netherlands, for a moment you think Messi's camarades are controlling the match and really playing a beautiful football scored two goals and everyone was sure it's over for tonight. Then boom Netherlands found out that Argentina defense are not that strong and took the chance and played till last minutes where they could draw the scores once again and they are now playing for their chances to qualify for semi finals

Well thats football for you, you never can tell was gonna happen in the next minute. After messi had scored and it was 2-0 , it would be just naturally for the Netherlands to ease their pressure after going two goals down but that wasn't the case here like you said they exploited the weakness in the Argentina defence and pull a wonderful comeback and drew the game at 2-2. This would be the second time in the competition if the Argentine lose that they have taken the lead but let it go and also this was the first time in the Qatar 2022 world cup that the Netherlands have trail by a goal and in this case they were even loosing by 2goals to nothing. The Netherlands have done a fantastic job by taking the game to extra time of play.
It would be very wonderful if they can finish up this comeback with a victory, if its get to penalty shoutout but penalty is actually a play of luck no side is too good for penalty so the luckiest team would be the once to meet up with the Croatians at the semi finals

in the 2018 world cup, Croatia made it to the final but lost to French, and so far we have also seen how good the performance was presented by the Croatia national team, so i think the brazil vs Croatia match will end in a penalty (because brazil relies more on young players than experienced players, but croatia is different, modric is a great midfielder)
I don't think so. You shall not underestimate brazil in the current world cup. I thin that brazil has greater chance to beat croatia easily. Let's back to the how croatia was feeling so difficult against japan. I were thinking about brazil may able to defeat japan easily if brazil was facing japan during the last 16.
I think that croatia will lose against brazil. So many people have the same opinion like me too. Brazil is far better rather than croatia. The possible thing for croatia to force the match become draw. I can't wait to see the match between brazil against croatia.
the reason why Brazil lost the match against Croatia was that they underestimated Croatia too much, they played too relaxed, even when they were winning 1-0, but Croatia had an extraordinary mentality, they continued to attack without stopping. (livakovic is a great goalkeeper, croatia are lucky to have him)

snip
Unfortunately, Croatia played nowhere as good as in Russia 4 years ago; our defense is as good as before (or maybe even better with Gvardiol), but midfield isn't (Modric is 4 years older and not on his usual level +  Rakitic retired from national team ) and our forwards are nowhere as good as in Russia (Manduzkic was immensely important for us). So no, so far we didn't play good and I don't know how you got that impression, it's our experience that brought us to the quarterfinal. That of course doesn't mean that we are not without chances against Brazil as we are usually best when no one gives us any chance, but it will be tough and they are the clear favorites.
the favorite is not necessarily the winner, the facts have proven that croatia is the best team than brazil. After the victory from Croatia this time, are you still unsure about your country's team?

The world cup is getting crazier in the quarter-finals especially because there are many matches to be decided by penalties. Brazil lost on penalties against Croatia, and now the same scenario is very likely for Argentina against the Netherlands.

I think Argentina will also be out today following Brazil. The two teams drew each other and haven't scored a goal in extra time at the moment, so now there's only 15 minutes left before going into the penalty shoot-out. If it comes to the penalty round, then I think the Netherlands will win.
I don't know but I mean to say that the referee of this match between Argentina and Netherlands seems to be a bit bias he is aligning to with Argentina more than Netherlands I don't know why it is so. There are some obvious direct kicks that he has awarded to Argentina which are not supposed to be so and I am still in doubt of the penalty kick which was awarded Argentina of which Lionel Messi scored.

I am happy that the Netherlands were vindicated by having that late minutes goal which led them to extra-time. Penalty kick will likely decide this match.

The mistake of the Brazilian team was because they were optimistic that they could win it after winning over Croatia so they no longer attacked and even the corner was not used for additional goals, so when they were not attacking constantly, the opponent's chances were to take advantage of counterattacks to get attacks on target. And finally they managed to equalize the goal in the second extra half, Team Brazil also made a mistake when kicking the penalty which resulted in them having to go home.
They were behaving in a very proud manner as if the world cup was going to be handed to them. In am a neutral fan but I am glad Croatia knocked them out. Maybe next time they will have to respect opponents and also stop thinking that each game will be a walk over for them.

Kudos to Croatia and Modric

We are seeing this 2022 World Cup had several surprises.
Brazil's defeat against Croatia, and at the moment, I'm wrinting this post, Netherlands managed to tie the game against Argentina.

Apparently, I believe we don't have a favorite team for this cup, because anything can happen...

Will Morocco be able to beat Portugal and France will lose the game tomorrow? That's the question...
Anything could happen, Morocco have already given a surprise beating Spain to enter the quarter finals. This time no team were to be underestimated. Every team played good and small mistakes turned to be goal. Surprise began from the very first day and it looks like the same will last to the final day of FIFA 2022. France the defending champion seems to win the match and repeat a same final as 2018.

Brazil was the biggest favorite and they are gone too. After Germany and Spain now there is one more favorite out of the calculations. Most people underestimated Croatia but they were not a big underdog. We know how they play in big tournaments. This result is not surprising to me. In the end this is World Cup, everybody try to do their best. I feel bad for Neymar but they should've scored a goal way earlier. This is what happens when you waste too many chances. Croatia well deserved semi-finals.

That was some surprise for Brazil to be beaten by Croatia, only managing to score 1 goal
from play and for Croatia to score one back to get to penalties.

I think a lot of bets got liquidated today with Brazil.

Netherlands v Argentina

I am just checking in on the stats so far, The Netherlands have had 2 shots on target only
and they both have registered goals, impressive.

I am hoping the Dutch go through.

Stunning Wout Weghorst scored in extra time which would have ended in 90+11 minutes due to a free kick, a successful free kick tactic by the Dutch team and who should have made no foul towards the end of the game.
Can the Netherlands vs Argentina have the same fate as Croatia vs Brazil, which in the end the favorite country can be defeated on penalties. I hope that doesn't happen and the last goal for Holland hurt a lot for Argentina and Wout Weghorst scored 2 goals.

This match was spectacular, I was completely amazed. The Dutch struggle was extraordinary and was able to rise from behind. Van Gaal was very careful in reading the situation, his decision to replace Depay was very correct, because Depay could no longer control his emotions and Weghorst's entry really had an extraordinary impact. This match is very interesting, who will qualify via penalty shootout is just a matter of luck.

So much surprises. I hope the irony from the Brazil match doesn't get to repeat itself in this Netherland 2:2 Argentina fixture. In the Brazil match, we saw Neymar score and have the whole team including the fans celebrate as though it was all over but Croatia soon cut back into the game.
Here we've seen Argentina with 2 goals ahead have that same feeling of its over only for the Netherland to cut back in with some incredible goals, first was W. Weghorst with a not very easy but well executed header into the net and he once yet again got hold of some tactical delivered free kick and placed order into the goal to win his team the equalizer they sole desired and its game on in the extra time.

I would honestly say Argentina's strategy towards the end of normal time was really bad.
They always commit violations that are actually self-defeating. defensive focus is great but when it comes to unnecessary fouls it makes them a bit worse.
I prefer them to play in extra time than 10 minutes of normal time.

Are we going towards another Plenty match result? Argentina is our favorite team and we do not want another upset in a day. First Brazil lost in Plenty's against Croatia and now we do not hope to see another upset result.

This is another thrilling  and high tense match and therefore we see some violence in the match, though we should not forget the sports men spirit.

Chances are that we don't see the penalty round: they are playing really hard and each attack is so risky I won't be surprised if any of the teams score one goal in the next minutes.

You're right, it's sad but it seem that the world is like this.

OMG, each and every match is getting to be very interesting. What a comeback from Netherlands, it is unbelievable and now the match is gonna be win for Netherlands. I've chosen it based on the previous match results out of penalty shoot in which every small team have won and moved to the next round.
I thought the surprises in this tournament would end with the group stage, but we've had more surprises since Morocco's advance to the quarterfinals and today's unexpected exit by Brazil, though nothing is certain because anything can happen.
I did not expect Argentina to concede more than one goal after leading by two, but they were unable to withstand the Netherlands pressure. Let's see how the next 30 minutes go.

Well, let's enjoy one more drama in the Netherlands against Argentina. This match will probably be decided by a penalty too because now it is entering extra time. Argentina failed to stem the Dutch struggle to catch up with 2 goals, but in the end the Netherlands succeeded. Unfortunately, Argentina had to be willing to play longer because the Netherlands scored a goal in the final minutes of the second half.

I don't really expect Argentina to fail like Brazil, but it looks like the Netherlands will do whatever it takes to win now that they have their hopes up at the moment.

It seems that Holland will be the second European club to qualify for the semi-finals, because the return of Holland in the result of the match will make it more confident, especially if they move to penalties.

That was the last chance for them so the tactic was too risky IMO, but really well executed, so they've won their pass to keep fighting for 30' more.
The most stunning goal in world cup history in 2022, I didn't expect that they took advantage of the space to assist a shot on goal and have executed well to score in the last minute of the second half.

On the other hand, I hope there is no more violence in this match. Children from all around the world are watching.
Every player must avoid violence because it will trigger the emotions of the audience to take to the field. I hope that all violence does not occur between players, many child fans are watching so it is not appropriate to show unprofessional actions of football players.

I thought that the game was over after watching Messi's penalty goal also. However Weghorst's entering the game has changed many things for Netherlands. They have started to play a more direct football. They are trying to whip crosses whenever they find a chance. One of these attempts really worked as Weghorst scored by a really great header. In these minutes they are trying their best to score another. van Dijk has also started to take risks and support the team on the front.

But despite all this effort I still think Argentina won't let an equalizer come in the remaining time period. Messi really deserves the semi final now after this very impressive performance. His assist was just lovely by the way.
now the players are aggressive and hitting like crazy -  ohhhh My GOd 101 min and NED has scored another goal
IF the match is going to you never know what is going to happen ARG so say on the goal . . the match is a tie and will be decided on the penalty shoot out

That was the last chance for them so the tactic was too risky IMO, but really well executed, so they've won their pass to keep fighting for 30' more.

This game was really crazy, I don't know but the Dutch really managed to take their chances well at the end of the second half. Argentina needs to do something and try to score in this extra time, otherwise I think the Netherlands will go to the semi-finals on penalties or even score in 30 minutes of extra time.

Almost the same as Brazil, but I don't think Argentina will be eliminated in the same way.
