Do not follow that blindly as this world cup is full of big upsets. I was so confident that Brazil would go through to the semifinal but after yesterday I am not believing on any of the odds. Croatia won because of their goalkeeper otherwise it would have been Brazil in the semis. More such shocks and upsets to come in the last two quarterfinals and in the semifinals.

Of the eight teams included in the original poll about who would the World Cup, only four teams remain at this time. Goes to show how much surprises the tournament has brought and how it is still anyone games so deep into it.

Not a particularly exceptional display from Argentina, but they put in good work defensively and kept their nerves when it mattered the most. Now we all look forward to Tuesday semi-final clash with Croatia: two teams who have similar style of play know what is at stake, having played in the final in 2018 (Croatia) and in 2014 (Argentina).

Tomorrow promises more drama.

Netherlands' second goal in the 90+11th minute really came as a surprise, especially for Argentina, because of course they had hoped for an advantage until the end. Fortunately, Argentina was able to maximize its performance in penalty kicks. I can't imagine if this is realized and the final is between Portugal and Argentina. The tense will be very high, This is not only about the two countries but about Ronaldo and Messi. We all know how their fans are so far, how their influence in the football. This will be very exciting if see this final. But, Portugal still should make a victory against Morocco and the winner between England and France. And this is not easy.

It was a really great night. I was expecting to see the Argentina - Netherlands game to be even more exciting than the Brazil - Croatia one. I got what I wanted in a great way. Netherlands' comeback was unbelievable first of all. Weghorst made a magical comeback by scoring two goals after entering the game. van Gaal made a great move by having him on the field.

Argentina started to be effective in extra time again. They wasted some big chances as well. Fernandez was like the worst player of the team as his shot hit the post and he missed a penalty as well.
