Brazil felt more excited, after Neymar returned to the field after being declared recovered from his injury. and in last night's game, South Korea seemed helpless and not like when they fought Portugal last time. as I predicted, Brazil will score at least 3 goals and yes that's what happened. that way, Brazil will meet Croatia in the quarter-finals.
Tough fight for Croatia. I wouldn't assume it was a close match, let alone a 50-50. it's too strange, if we refer to the facts that existed during this world cup. not that we underestimate Croatia, after all I've said since the beginning this world cup has not been held. Croatia will remain a formidable dark horse team, even if it is not filled with their veteran players like they were in the world cup 4 years ago.

However, their opponent is Brazil. a superior team, when compared to the other teams that took part in this year's world cup tournament. Brazil's equal opponent should be France, especially if several of its stars are not out through injury.
on paper, Croatia is not a balanced opponent in many ways, whether it's team depth, readiness, teamwork, a very sharp front line.  statistically, Brazil will advance to the next round phase.

however, in football it is not only talking on paper and statistics. in the end, the decision was finally made as the match began.
I hope Croatia will do its best job and give a fierce resistance against Brazil later.

there may well be surprises in both games today, with the supposed underdogs (morocco and switzerland) winning.
in these games now only the daily form counts and if spain and portugal can not develop their own game/tactic/strategy, then so much is possible

Morocco are a most promising under dog in round of 16. Japan and Korea were eliminated already and only Morocco can be a surprising name in quarter round. Will they make it ?

Spain always have good ball possession but they can have problems too. Sometimes too high ball possession makes their defenders more careless. Sometimes they can not create opportunities and score goals. At the end, they can be beaten by only one goal from their opponent. Morocco with Ziyech and Hakimi can score goals in the match but important for Morocco, keep their goal clean first.

Brazil and Argentina are in a same branch and they will meet each other in a semi final if they win their quarter matches. I still consider Brazil are stronger than Argentina because they don't have serious dependence on Neymar like Argentina have serious dependence on Messi.

In addition, Brazilian players are better to score goals from opportunities. Both Messi and Neymar can make key passes but Argentinian players are worse as they wasted many chances so far. This factor can be a very important one if they meet each other.

But I don't understand why it's not bad odds to win in the main time of the Spanish national team 1.55 at the moment, odds 1.87 to win Portugal. I bet on Spain, I think they should win today, although the World Cup can bring surprises

There is definitely going to be a tough match between Morocco and Spain but obviously Spain Is really ahead in experience and efficiency in football as compared to Morocco
 
Both teams will fight to win this game and none of them should be overconfident or underestimate the other team as anything can happen on the ground.
Yesterday we have see a tough fight between Croatia and Japan both of them gave brilliant performance on their end.

croatia didn't perform well even to win against japan in yesterday's match it looked difficult and only won on penalties, how are they going to fight brasil are they going to focus on defending and make another penalty shootout with brasil, but still brasil seems to be superior in the match next quarter-final 

Morocco did provide extraordinary surprises in the group phase but it looks like this might be the same as other surprise teams such as Korea, Australia and Japan.
In terms of players, I really like them, especially with the current conditions, the majority of their players are in a league that is actually quite competitive.
But in terms of compactness and experience, it is clear that Spain definitely dominates in this matter, especially since the young Spanish players are also really quite good, even though they were a little surprised by Japan before.

I am very confident that I will be on the Spanish side in this game.

But seeing the quality of the Brazilian players at this time it is actually difficult to win even though they have brought most of the reserve players on the field. Nothing is much different when seeing Vini replaced by Martineli or on the other side when Raphinha always alternates with Antony on the opposite side.

You may be right but the game could be one sided for another reason: Croatia had a tough 120 minutes against Japan and Brazil played an easy warm-up game against South Korea where the result was achieved quickly and the coach made substitutions to save the players' strength. It seems to me that the superiority of Brazil also in physics can make the game too unequal.

Do you think Argentina, Spain and Portugal are not included in the national team that can beat Brazil in this world cup?
And if you just say the countries that are able to beat Brazil are France and England, then you have to say one of the two national teams because they (England and France) will meet earlier in this world cup. That's exactly five days from now and one of them will definitely lose, so you only have to choose one of them to beat Brazil.

I won’t want anyone to underestimate Morocco. They’ve put enough effort to have qualified top of their group with good standings and defensive record. They’ll also demonstrate that performance and commitment against Spain. They have a good team, they play in a way that you’ll think they posses big players but it’s just intelligent play and seriousness. Spain will dominate and have more of possession to themselves but they have to be careful of Morocco, they have clinical finishers that can convert those chances.

I think it's very clear that Croatia will struggle against Brazil. As we saw in yesterday's match when Croatia played against Japan. Croatia even almost conceded several times. in fact Croatia had a little trouble against Japan. Meanwhile, if we look at Brazil's match against South Korea. we can see clearly the power difference between korea and brazil. Brazil can beat South Korea easily. And what I mean is that Croatia's Power is almost on par with Japan and korea. while Brazil is above them. the individual skill of each Brazilian player is truly amazing. So no doubt Brazil will have a great chance to beat Croatia quite easily.

Yes, the Japanese team was really good, they fought on equal terms with Croatia. The penalty shootout was very strange.
The first shooters from Japan looked confused and of the 3 misses, only once the Croatian goalkeeper really helped, the remaining 2 out of 3 is the miss of the shooters.
Ideally, at the beginning, the strongest players are placed on the first shots, but they shot very badly.
Perhaps it is certainly the excitement, but at this stage it is unclear why they should worry? The Japanese have already played well, came out of a very difficult group in first place, beating Spain and Germany.
This team of Japan has already made history.

 

Today there will be two closing matches of the 2022 world cup play-off round and I hope that each country that is competing will provide an exciting and entertaining spectacle.

First, in this match, Morocco was able to prove to the world that as a dark horse team, they managed to advance to the round of 16. Their mainstay players such as Hakim Ziyech and Achraf Hakimi will remain the main axis of attack from Morocco, while from Spain they are dominated by players from Barcelona such as Gavi, Busquets, Ferran Torres, Alba and Pedri of course have a higher chance of winning the game. Maybe Spain will have a little trouble in this game but I hope they can still win it.

Second, there is a match between Portugal and Switzerland. The generation of young players from Portugal is not inferior to Brazil like yesterday, there were Vitinha and Ricardo Horta who performed brilliantly in the match against South Korea. Bruno Fernandes will still be a good playmaker and I hope Cristiano scores goals in this game, otherwise he will be frustrated again. Meanwhile, from Switzerland, they are still strengthened by Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri, both of whom are the mainstay midfielders and wingers owned by Switzerland. The possibility of a slim score for Portugal's victory, but you should also be wary that Switzerland could provide unexpected surprises.

I think that it will be a be a pretty close game between Croatia and Brazil. Of course at the moment it looks like Brazil is the clear favorite for that match because the Brazilian team won with 4-1 against South Korea yesterday and was already up 4-0 in the first half, while Croatia had a very hard time against the Japanese team and they even needed to go all the distance with a penalty shootout in order to advance into the quarterfinal.
That being said, yesterday everything worked out perfectly for Brazil. They scored the first goal with the first chance and their second goal with their second chance. We should not expect that they will be that efficient in the next match too. For me it's a 50/50 match and it will depend on the start into the game and also on luck obviously.

Am not underestimating Morocco, we all saw what happened in the group stage, so no country should be underestimated, Morocco performed well in group stage, they played draw in their first match and the won the remaining two matches, so I believe anything can happen today, that was why I said (let's hope Morocco will put smile on Africans face today). But to be honest the chances of Morocco winning Spain is very slim, with the squad that Spain is having, it will be difficult for Morocco to win them. Since we are just having few hours to go, let's see what will happen Morroco might be lucky. When it comes to football anything can happen.

The Brazilian team has so far paraded themselves as a favorite for the contested cup. They are good no doubt, and would have added more goals if they needed against the South Koreans.
If they get to play against Argentina, I must say the match will be hot. Although to predict they will win is hard, I would play a win with above>1.5 goal margin, a win also on penalties if it comes to that.

Of course, Brazil's game with Croatia will not be similar to the ones already played and it will not be easy for the teams to beat, in the match with Japan, the Croats decided not to risk and turn the match into an over and a penalty shootout, I think they will have to show more open football with Brazil.

Both Croatia and Brazil completed their matches in round of 16 very well. Brazil simply destroyed Korea and the return of Neymar with his good show is very good for them in quarter match with Croatia. With Neymar, they will have more chances and the appearance of Neymar attracts other players of Croatia to follow him. This will give Richarlison, Vini, Paqueta more space and more chances. With Neymar, Brazil will show their best attacking ability.

Croatia, however do have very good system which maintains distances between attacking, midfiled and defense areas very well. They can switch from defensive to attacking mode very quickly with Modric and Perisic. Kovacic is important for them too as he has been one of players with most total distance in each match in the World Cup. He contributes a lot to defense system of Croatia, starting in midfield area.

Will Croatia have another match with penalty shoot out?
