What will happen from next year?
If I understood correctly the world cup for clubs will be every 4 years.

so what they will do in the year 2-3-4? will they play this cup again or it is just deleted from the existence

As far as I know Fifa will keep this Intercontinental Cup, since it's only a few games, and only 1 game for UEFA teams

Yesterday Pachuca qualified for the final and will face Real Madrid  Cool
It wasn't this time that Al Ahly made it to the final, it's been five years since they've only made it to the semi-finals
The Mexican team qualified on penalties after a 0-0 draw

The final will be played on the 18th
Do you think Pachuca have a chance against Real or will it be a final with lots of Real Madrid goals?

Rumor or the day is that Mbappè will skip the game for Real Madrid.
This useless cup since modern football will be won by Real anyway

Too much difference between eruopean clubs and the rest of the world.
Kylian Mbappe is currently injured which is why he's ruled out to feature in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup but considering the quality of players in the Real Madrid squad, I think they European champions are surely going to win the competition with the French talisman. It'll take a miracle for any other team in the competition to stop Real Madrid from winning the competition

This is the first time I've heard about this team Pachuca from Mexico. I did a quick Google search and it really isn't a very well-known team, so in this case I believe that Botafogo will win, as they are very excited about the recent titles they've won.

And all of this is quite curious. Not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined a Real Madrid vs. Botafogo match. How crazy is it all?
Seems you are not much into sports betting rather other events because if you were, then you would have definitely known Pachuca which is one of the Mexican teams that scores lots of goals. When I was playing them, I don't bet them to win or lose instead I place them based on total goals and they always deliver.  In this present tournament, I know they will definitely showcase this goal scoring tendency. If they eventually meet Real Madrid, then I will bet them to score at least four goals.

Yes, I like betting, but I follow the Brazilian championship, Copa Libertadores and national team games, I can't follow championships from all over the world, and probably few people here have heard about the Pachuca team either, after all, it's not as popular as America, or even Querétaro, which was the team that Ronaldinho Gaucho played for.

I didn't quite understand what you asked, but the World Cup for Blubs will be held every 4 years, as you mentioned.

The old annual World Cup will no longer be held worldwide, it will be called the Intercontinental Cup, see more details below:

Intercontinental Cup. This is the name of the new annual club competition that will bring together the continental champions annually, replacing the World Cup, which will now be played every four years, with 32 teams. The announcement was made by FIFA, this Sunday (17), after a meeting of its Council.

Just dropping by to give my opinion on the Pachuca vs Botafogo game. I know it's been a few days. But Botafogo should have gone with their starting players, regardless of anything. Every game in a knockout is important. There's no time to think about making fancy changes. Whoever is in sync will go in.

That's why they lost, using a lousy strategy like that.

I always hope for a team of South America to end the hegemony of europeans hehehe, but I know it will be an almost impossible task

This is an increasingly distant dream in my opinion, as brazilian football is degrading a lot, only teams like Palmeiras, Flamengo and Botafogo stand out in the vast majority, but with Botafogo losing badly in its first dispute, it becomes even more evident.

And now with the new format of the FIFA Super World Cup, it's scary to think that the chances of a South American team winning have dropped drastically.

It's a tournament that allows you to raise a lot of money in just a few matches. What I don't really understand is traveling to the other side of the planet to play with a team full of reserve players. They probably underestimated Pachuca and the club thought: ohhh guys, let's go with the reserve team to save the starting lineup for the match against Real Madrid, because this Pachuca must be a random bad team from Mexico.  Roll Eyes

I also didn't understand the fact that they didn't play 100% right from the start, and that cost them qualification
I have an opinion, at least I think so: the team has just been crowned champions and has a very important game in four days' time. Let them celebrate afterwards, there'll be plenty of time. The title match is over, get on with the preparation...
Anyway, they've prioritized other things

It should be an easy game for Real Madrid; however, they still do not need to play with it because this is football and anything can happen. Real Madrid are also not in their best of form, so they can be outplayed by any team that puts in an effort to make sure that they get to win. Mbappe has picked up an injury, and there are concerns about whether he will be fit enough to play in that final in a few days or not. If he doesn't play, the chance for Real Madrid to win does not still diminish.

And the winner of Botafogo, Pachuca or Al Ahly will face Real Madrid in final, december 18th

What are your bets?
Too easy for Real Madrid or another team can face and play against the Spanish team?

Seems its the first tournament held by FIFA, have checked about the FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024 description based on FIFA Website talk there about teams from the continental champions of CONMEBOL and Concacaf will face Real Madrid in the final. Its the match schedule checking with Real Madrid will play in the final match at Thursday 19 December, I don't know more about this tournament and how interested for fans because teams participants not really popular yet more than FIFA Club World Cup as usually the participants from the winner continent.

However its important match for Madrid have opportunity for getting the trophy, its first trophy if become the winner but very sad because Mbappe looks absent for this match after injury when Madrid defeating Atalanta at Champion League match.

The Botafogo players blamed the defeat on the plane they used to travel lol  Cheesy

I still think that, no matter how well Botafogo has done this year, everything is still a big distortion of reality, like something that only happens when the planets align, Botafogo's place is always fighting against relegation, not fighting by titles.  Cheesy

Now, in a championship like this, putting a mixed team to play, after traveling 16 hours, is a total lack of commitment, I don't know why they did that. It would be better not to travel and lose due to W.O.

Hehehe I agree, and next year Botafogo should go back to standard pattern  Cheesy

It was a bad decision, really bad decision, they underestimated Pachuca, thinking they were superior, and ended up conceding 3 goals
I still don't understand why they didn't play their first team  Sad

They earned 1 million USD, if they made it to the semi-finals, they would win 2.5 million dollars, and if they went all the way to the final 4 million
The champion wins 5 million

I'm sorry for your failed bet, 3x0 isn't that humiliating, but i didn't expect Botafogo to concede 3 goals as a souvenir. The team was very confident and underestimated the opponent too much. I didn't expect them to drop out of the Intercontinental so soon.

And from what i've heard, the opposing team had been on vacation for almost 2 months before this match. Surreal.

Will we see more similar defeats from brazilian and South American teams?

No problem, it was a small bet, I'm not crazy enough to bet big on Botafogo hahaha

It's interesting, Corinthians was the last south american team to win the cup, in 2012 against Chelsea  Cool
After that, only european teams won, and last year Fluminense lost to Manchester City

What us brazilians expect is to get at least at the finals, but Botafogo disapointed

Tomorrow Pachuca will play against Al Ahly, let's see who is going to face Real Madrid

I lost my bet hehehe, I believed in Botafogo
I don't know why the coach insisted on not starting with the first team, and decided to spare some players
I understand that they played the final of the Libertadores and the Brazilian championship in the last round, but they are players, they earn thousands of dollars a month, can they really not play one more match in 4 days?

What madness, Botafogo was destroyed by Pachuca, it was a 3 x 0 defeat and Pachuca almost had a penalty, this game was really unpredictable, whoever bet on Pachuca made a good profit! Since I didn't know it, I decided to stay out of it, did anyone here make a profit on this match? Totally unlikely

I'm also confused, but I believe that this is the world tournament played annually, it has been played since the 60s, only recently FIFA decided to make its own tournament with clubs from all over the world

The one that was played today is only with intercontinental champions (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Yes, this is a tournament played annualy, so they called Intercontinental Cup, the champion of Champions League will only need to play 1 match, while others can play 1, 2 or 3 matches

The real "Club World Cup" will be played every 4 years with 32 teams, starting in 2025 in USA

My jaw dropped seeing the score at 3. My friends are those who made profit from this game because my bets were against their own bets. And tomorrow I am going to be made their laughing stock.

I have decided within myself to bet on Al Ahly to win in their game against Real Madrid. This club already has some good stats. Can they even win Real Madrid. They have some good players but real Madrid isn't just some random club.

No matter how poor Real Madrid's performance is if Real Madrid is playing any final competition they always find a way to win the match, I see Real Madrid as the winner of the Intercontinental Cup, any team that faces Real Madrid in the final should just put it in mind that Real Madrid will defeat them and take the trophy home, the reason why I believe in Real Madrid to win the trophy is that Real Madrid is not in good shape and they are still winning against a team like Atlanta that strong this season.

In the Intercontinental Final, many Real Madrid players will be in the game and they will all fit that they can stand any pressure that any team will come with, Real Madrid is still in all leagues they are playing and that shows that the team is capable of winning like two trophies this season, Real Madrid is not good from the beginning of the season but 2025 will be the best year to see Vini Jr, Bellingham, Mbappe and Rodrygo dominate Many leagues.

After what I saw in the Botafogo match, I believe that anything can happen. The biggest possibility is that Real Madrid will win, as it is a team with a lot of tradition and has a very strong squad. However, it could be that the club is not so interested in this championship and prioritizes others, causing the team to not enter with full strength... Even Botafogo entered with some reserve players...
