They both were already not at their peak, Christiano Ronaldo was a bit sad to see actually. He was replaced and his replacement played much better than him.

Messi was still OK, but not at a spectacular level. He won the world cup in the end, but it was more of a team effort really.

I don't think any of them will be able to play at that level in the next world cup.
