New teams only mean quantity, but unfortunately not quality.
It all boils down to politics and making money, which is what FIFA is best at, and all of that has nothing to do with football.
FIFA should have given more places to Europe and less to Asia, Africa and North America, but apparently the top of FIFA is preparing for new elections and counting on the votes of delegates from those continents.
So, in the next World Cup in 2026, we will have more national teams and more matches, which will increase FIFA's earnings, but the quality of the competition will decrease because we will see more boring matches between weaker teams.

AFAIK you can enter in Mexico and Canada with a valid US visa, at least for my country, this is the rule, you don't need separate visa, so the fans will probably have to get the US visa only.
I don't know if this rule will remain until 2026, but I'm sure they talk about visa when US submitted the application to FIFA.
If you want my opinion, I think fans will not have problems to visit US to watch the games, the World Cup will be a good reason to any fan ask for a visa, and if you match the criteria that US asks, you'll be fine.

And the recommendation of US is always buy the flight after the visa, never before the application.

The USA visa problem is well known and I'm sure FIFA is well aware of that. I don't know how will they work it out but it's definitely unacceptable that someone has to wait visa for several months and then purchase a ticket for the World Cup.

@W Jr the wait for an USA visa is only getting longer, and I expect many will miss out on watching this World Cup live because they’ll not get their USA visa’s issued in time. Also I doubt that FIFA will be able to do much as issuing visa is not something that they can interfere with, hence the only logical way is to apply for the USA visa at least 1 year in advance otherwise getting it in time will be really difficult.

Yes, Only Japan and Korea are the two countries with the most problems and soccer lovers in all countries. And if the World Cup is held in the United States, there will be various problems. Visa will be the biggest problem and entry will have to follow the law. However, flights to the US must be purchased separately.

I think the USA will do some work on the World Cup. In addition, there may be a lot of people who want to go to the world cup as fans and stay in the USA, they can make changes in visa conditions to prevent them. I observed Qatar as a good host. The stadiums were very good, the matches were really exciting. Moreover, Messi is the champion, what more could I ask for.

Qatar also has a relaxed visa regimen, which helped a lot of football fans. On the other hand, getting a US visa is a really tough job and I just hope that the government would relax the requirements for global fans. It's not the first time we have a world cup hosted in more than one country. For example, Korea-Japan 2002

That ended up with Brazil as the winner, and it was the last time the Golden Goal rule was used. Glad they removed that.

But yeah, I agree that it adds more trouble for the people having to fly around to other countries, there might be passport or visa issues, plus with covid we now might have other restrictions, etc.

Much simpler to host it in one country.

Also, the level of preparation and coordination is really hard for one country, imagine doing it in three countries, it will be a logistical nightmare. Also, most games are played in the US only any way, so not sure why they wanted to add the other 2 countries.

This is where I disagree with you. You are assuming that these new teams would automatically be incompetent. I don't agree with that assumption. From what we have seen in FIFA 2022, the most incompetent teams were the ones who finished on top of the qualifying tournaments. Remember the time when North Korea participated in the world cup? They were involved in very competitive matches against Brazil and Ivory Cost, and they added a lot of excitement to the tournament back then. And at that point, their FIFA ranking was 108 or something.

I thought fifa wanted Asia country to host the 2026 world cup. It will be fine and fair to all, as the extension of number of participation increases. More countries that haven't participated in world before would have the opportunity to play in the world cup. I love the development by fifa

These are the other one-sided matches:

Portugal vs Switzerland (6-1)
Spain vs Costa Rica (7-0)

Out of these three matches and 6 teams, only Costa Rica can be considered as a "fringe" team.
