Prices are supposed to increased due to no production at all for months but not for every product we buy it means they are getting oversold or our money value is getting lesser a lot since the pandemic hit us because government is printing more money to tackle the condition as short term solution.

Findingnemo I am not sure I understand you here, but we spend more money on food every year! In my +40 years I can say
that many prices went up, and in the future I think we will more increase of the prices. It's what happening for decades and trend
will continue. We can blame the pandemic for this year, but whom to blame for all the decades before this year that led to this year?
I think we need a fast solution or this world will face with huge food problems! Problems with supply of quality food, and problems
with people who will not be able to afford food because of the high price.

When the lockdown was first declared, a lot of people were clearing out the supermarket shelves, and were gathering whatever they could find. As a result, the supplies were running low and the prices would have climbed in the black market. But the situation came back to normal in 1-2 weeks. Here in India, a number of smaller shops were indulging in hoarding supplies, so that they can sell them at 2x-3x prices later.

Is this problem still happening in India until now?  Actually, hoarding by individuals for profit also occurs in my country, but the government is quick to deal with this.  The government should also be firm in punishing people who hoard basic commodities so that this does not happen for a long time.  If the price of food could increase 200%, it would kill many poor people and leave them starving to death.  It is very sad if because of the pandemic, more people die from hunger than from Covid itself.  Those who are rich can still buy even though the price has increased many times, how can the poor survive?

Yeah, many countries are facing strong hardship because of what corona virus has caused in our economy.
Even my country the price of food items have increased because of the lockdown, many farmers are still at home base on the rules the government have put  on ground.
Food is very important to humanity what people feel right now in this pandemic is food, covid-19 has caused inflation in food items because farmers strongly to get enough product to supply to the market.

Actually government can implement on this but not to all establishment because they can reason out that others are doing the same increasing their essential product price. The increase would probably due to the high demand of it especially in populated areas. This is the main cause or reason of high price in basic commodities. This pandemic had really been a troublesome to all. Our activities were put to limit and we could not enjoy life more like in the normal situation.

Are you from? At least state on which country are you on since its so pathetic to hear that and I think your government is so lazy watching those things happening. On our country we have price control where certain goods especially basic essentials are monitored.

But I also notice some certain price increase for past months while lockdown is happening since the basic goods and other essentials are getting a hard time pass on every border that's why the government let some little changes on the price due to the events but for now all is totally controlled here since lockdown has been lift out.

if does then that would be a normal because this happens to most countries now though same on here but not doubling tha prices.

The increase range from 20-405 depend on products.

Hope this can ease the situation in sooner time because it really affects the lives of the people.

I am also the one who is being in charged on getting our goods and essentials on the market for I am entitled and allowed to go outside because of our quarantine pass. As far as I have observed in our local market, super market and other convenience stores, I see an increase on the prices of foods and other essential products but not to the extent that the price would double. The increase was just a little bit top up if I would compare it to the previous prices for I got to memorize and familiarize the prices of common food products and goods I buy. The increase is really expected for the market, business owners are getting into the process of recovery and regaining from their losses due to the pandemic. But the price was just good and understandable so it did not come to a surprise. Good thing here in our country and locality, we did not encounter such doubling in price.

Not only food, vehicle price's also get effected.
I  was looking to buy a car in march but i was unable to get one due to lock down, anyways i deiced to get brand new "2020 Nissan Versa" and the price was starting from $10,000.
After the ending of lock down i went back to the market and guess what?, the price was increased x2. Now its starting from $14,000. This covid-19 destroyed everything.

The third world countries suffered more with the pandemic that others. Except for some countries that provided subsidy with some food items and alternative money use like house rent. Fuel price had a very short dump before it rises however it does not have effect on quarantined communities around the globe. Politics paid a very bad effect on most citizens and exploited them to give much to the capitalist government

I don't think that food and other essential prices have increased in a big way in any of the third world nations. On the other hand, it should be the other way. The consumption has gone down, and therefore the prices should decline. I am hearing stories about farmers unable to sell their produce, due to the lockdown restrictions. That may be having an impact as well. But as of now, food prices seems to be at normal levels.

On my country AFAIK they didn't need to make it increase the market price of the food because right here on our country  due to this pandemic outbreak some people doesn't have any job some of them are begging on the street and most of them are our might public utility drivers.

Earlier i go to our market.and there is no so much increase instead there are few ingredients got down decrease the price because of having over supply.

My country says inflation only 4% something like that but it's 20 or 25% some food 50%. I wonder if they had to use Mathematics in their approved Economy University? How do they calculate this inflation?

Some of the country are recovering so one of the process they think is to make having a comeback to their GDP. Also having a massive import and export of product.

Honestly, any prices hardly changed at all, maybe gained 10% at max, but its hardly noticable anyway.

You didn't mention where exactly you from to everything would be more clear to us.
I noticed the rise of prices just in the time of pandemic's peak. Since everything became more calm here, in Serbia, I may say that there is no any big rises, everything seems turned normal. And that's in the country who doesn't produce any fruit or fish and many other things.
I am truly believe that all of those price manipulations is just sort of a deal between producers and the government, so called, elita. I am very sorry that you suffer from that, but you didn't mention the salary, it should be also turn higher, isn't it so?

And expect to be even higher in the future! To not spread some theory conspiracies here, the fact is that cities are growing bigger, villages are dying. Some crazy corporations run that show with supply/demand manipulations, just few of them have the biggest share, so they can do it! Just rare people and communities are independent of them! So what's the point here, current situation is just the reflection of the entire system and it's bad, like the entire system it is. And like in all other areas this needs changes too, if we wish to have a better tomorrow for us and our children.
What should we do? Try to buy your food from small, family, businesses, try to support little ones, not the big ones, because big ones doesn't care, they are just care about themselves.

Yup, no lies in this, especially foods that are being imported, their prices all went up like crazy. This is even one of the reasons why a lot of people where I live were not in support of the lockdown; they had no jobs and some of them have lost their jobs due to the lockdown and economy crashing, and then the price of foodstuffs were going up like crazy and people were totally frustrated, you don’t have a job and you also can’t afford to buy food for your family with the little money you have left. And this is why I will never support there to be any other lockdown.

Only the rich guys are able to survive the lockdown, because they buy whatever foods they want and stock up without stress. Not the same for the poor, lol.
This is why I have always thought that countries need to put an emphasis on food production, it is true that in other countries with more fertile land they could cultivate food more effectively and for a cheaper price but whenever there is a crisis imported food goes up in price and people are left with no choice about the foods they can buy.

However at this point it is too late you cannot hope to try to solve such a bad decision when we are in the middle of one of the biggest crises we have seen, however have you looked on how to produce your own food from home? That could be an option for those that have the time, not only it can help you save on costs but it also assures you will never run out of food like other people.

Even do in our country also the prices of food in here was double in a pandemic situation so we need to find way to get more cheap price of food and it was hard to go back in our job also because they close it for our safety. But we are so glad that we have any plants growth in our backyard that we use to cook sometimes.

And the affected of COVID also in our country and being few are now than in the other past months are many or my country men are affected and died.

If agricultural crisis continues in our country and government doesn't take actions to it then we will end up suffering from famine.

Not all of us do have a budget to buy foods and goods that we need to survive due to increasing of jobless people.

Businesses are closed and don't expect that jobs will still make you live, this pandemic affects huge sectors in our agriculture. The only thing who will make a way for this inflation to decrease is the government, a responsible and wise government. Let's be honest, it is really hard to earn money and work for it when a hindrance is really deadly and can cause someone's life.

If you know how to properly budget your money then do it, never waste your money to useless things.

This is really sad  to hear, I mean it's 2020 and we still have people not getting enough food. We are paying more than 1.000 USD for an Iphone but can't make sure that everyone has enough food on this planet? Everyone should definitely reconsider. The demand for food banks will likely increase in the future and is on all of us to support each other. Having people suffer from famine is unacceptable in a such advance technology world like we have today.

It is not easy to solve the issue.  If we feed everyone well they would live to fuck and breed more people crowding the planet more and more.

So before we feed the world well we either need to find more room for the extra people or get people to stop making babies as often as they do. A hint lots of showers and  baths with clean water will allow for lots of oral sex which would keep population in check.
