To be honest i was pretty surprised to hear during the world cup a few weeks ago that Pepe is already 39 years old. I thought he would be at least 3 or 4 years younger than that. In addition to that i think it is a pretty big proof of trust and confidence from FC Porto to prolong his contract not only by 1 year but by 2 years given his old age.
I don't really think though that Pepe was one of the most complete or best defenders in the world. I think that he is one of those players that made the absolute best of their talent. Pepe was an extremely hard and aggressive defender and quite often he even played to hard and unfair, but that was just his way of playing and it brought him great success.

I thought after left Real Madrid his performance will be decline but Pepe has proven age doesn't mean everything that at his current age Pepe still able to play at high level of competitions even at world cup he has several times played as starting lineup and i still remember while against Morocco he has played although Portugal lose at that time but in my opinion he can performing well and with Porto too he has play 13 times at Portugal super league and champion league so Porto players really required his figure because he can be inspire for younger players i think Porto has just make right decision

Even though a bunch of money has already been spent by Chelsea the club seems still okay with financial fair play. I can only hope that Chelsea's management will try to buy a new player based on how efficient the player is for the club. People would be seeing so many new signs by Chelsea like gambling.
I don't like how management was massively buying so many players like that. I miss when frank lampard was still a part from Chelsea.

Sterling was in man city, they saw no use of him but Chelsea gave out a huge some of £45m and now Sterling's performance is far below expectation. he's the oldest defender I've ever seen still in football and Pepe continues to be a mainstay in Porto's backline ahead of his 40th birthday in February, with manager Sergio Conceicao also keen to keep him even longer at the Estadio do Dragao. Apart from extending the contract, Pepe is also expected to continue to maintain his body condition so that he remains at the top level and can play for Portugal at Euro 2024.

Yeah right, isn't that the same story they said when we wanted to sign Felix and Mudryk that they won't choose Chelsea because we aren't in the top4 position. While Arsenal may win the league and I'm happy for them because it seems like its been forever they lifted that trophy. Still Arsenal can't compete with Chelsea when it comes to transfer window. Chelsea aren't interested in Declan Rice anymore irrespective of what the media are saying. That guy is too costly especially because he's English. Yes he's a top player but not for that amount that West Ham are asking for.

They're better midfielder that we can get for way less amount and could easily outplayed Declan Rice in his position. The only reason I see Chelsea signing him is if his cost price get reduced and he's still available in the summer. Beside Chelsea has already spent so much this season already and can't afford another €100+ transfer. Arsenal can have him, he isn't a priority.

Arsenal have had little luck in the transfer window this January, with Chelsea beating them to sign targets Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk. I think Declan would be the perfect for Arsenal because at the moment, they are heavily reliant on Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. So adding more players of Rice's quality could be vital if Arsenal are to have any chance of maintaining their new-found heavyweight status next season. This one is an English man and a club captain, Westham will definitely respect his choice and not the money a club wants to pay.

In this situation, I believe that Declan Rice is always going to prefer playing for Arsenal instead of playing for Chelsea. Because obviously if he goes to Arsenal there is a big chance that he is going to be able to win the English Premier League title with Arsenal. But with Chelsea that is not a very realistic possibility right now. I mean it is possible that Chelsea goes and wins the English Premier League title from here. But it is not probable.
