It doesn't matter if a particular player gave a result or not. If you buy star players in packs, then both outcomes are inevitable. Barcelona were doing just that and it hit their budget. All clubs have been affected by the covid, but the ones that have been spending more recklessly have been hit the hardest (and that turned out to be Barcelona). This is a common occurrence in crises - it has a stronger effect on those who are initially weak.

Yes reckless spending...^^ Players which were bought and not used. There were many clubs who made some hell of big transfer but at least there was cash flow or some kind of support I guess. And once again it goes to the poor management back then. Anyway it's a gone case now, Barcelona are slowly trying to build up which is important. I am sure  no one would have loved to see downfall of one of the Spanish giant clubs.

I have heard that Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United both are after Ajax's great striker Sebastien Haller now. He has performed really awesome in this season so far and it must be very effective for these teams to start going after him. He has scored 33 goals and made 9 assists in 39 games in total so far. He still has a contract with Ajax lasting until 2025 now so it might not be easy to sign him. But it depends on what Haller thinks about it too. As long as Haaland is at Dortmund, he wouldn't like to go there I guess.
His outstanding performances with ajax have become one of the attractions for European clubs at this time, but Haller currently still has two years remaining on his contract with ajax, so it is difficult for other teams to get haller unless they are willing to activate release clause  which may reach a price of 40-50 million pounds, the factor of losing haaland next season is forcing dortmund to look for the right replacement, but I think the arrival of ten hag to manchester united seems to be one factor if possible sebastian haller will go to manchester united next season if he go away from ajax.

You have made a good point. Erik ten Hag is going to be the Manchester United manager officially this summer. This can be a big factor for Haller to prefer Manchester United over Borussia Dortmund. Therefore, Dortmund will need to provide better conditions for Haller to attract his attention to themselves. Paying more money might be helpful to do so maybe. But I still feel like he would be closer to the English side in case these teams join the race for signing him. On the other hand, we don't even know if this rumour will turn out to be true.

Transfer rumours:

Barcelona will turn to Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku, 28, in their search for a striker. The Belgium centre-forward is believed to be Barca's 'plan C' after moves for Norway's Erling Haaland, 21, and Poland's Robert Lewandowski, 33, were thwarted. Will this Plan C be successful for Barcelona? How much Lukaku can really help Barcelona?
Manchester City may consider the sale of 31-year-old Algeria forward Riyad Mahrez this summer. I’m a little surprised with this news considering how well Mahrez has been playing lately.
Arsenal and Newcastle have joined the chase to sign Juventus and Argentina forward Paulo Dybala. The 28-year-old will leave Turin as a free agent in the summer and Manchester United and Tottenham have already made enquiries. I think Juve are making a mistake with this decision. What Dybala will decide?
Pep Guardiola will not rush into extending his contract at Manchester City in the wake of Jurgen Klopp's new deal at rivals Liverpool. The 51-year-old Spaniard is under contract at City until 2023. Will Guardiola also extend his contract?
Liverpool fans have moved to tweak the words of a chant to feature the name of Jurgen Klopp's wife after the German revealed she was key in his decision to extend his contract at Anfield. Personally, I think that some other reasons, primarily the vision of the club and the fans, were much more important for this decision of Klopp.

I actually would prefer Romelu Lukaku to Lewandowski if I am the manager of Barcelona. Lukaku is a terrific striker, he is young and prolific in front of goal. He only needs a team that will play to his strengths and trust him. The Lukaku we watched when he was at loan in the EPL and when he moved to Inter Milan are the same because those teams played him right and trusted him unlike Chelsea and Manchester United.

Barcelona, long before the covid, spent space money on salaries and purchases of players such as Neymar, Ibrahimovic, Villa, etc. but before covid their debt was in adequate condition. During the covid two years, their debt has increased (if I remember the timing correctly) by more than a billion. Many clubs suffered during this period, but Barcelona was among the record holders due to their management, but the impact of covid on this cannot be denied.

I would say Neymar , Ibrahimovic ,Villa are not the ones... these were the signings which gave them result. You are going a long way back in my opinion. I would say signings like Coutinho , Griezmann which were mega signings but never proved fruitful for the club so bad management in terms of new signings in/after 17-18 is what took them. Their financial status was much much better when before 17-18. Also yes covid took an impact but you gotta see were Barca the only one on which it took an impact. Yeah it proved to be beating to the wound but the real fact is that they were about to get into financial crisis eventually. I would put the majority of blame to bad management back then , covid is also one of the reasons but that was same for every club.

It looks like madrid have reached an agreement with rudiger as a replacement for ramos and now they are starting to target reece james as an ideal replacement candidate for carvajal who is now getting older, it's only natural that madrid are interested in reece james because so far he has appeared quite good and strong in defending as a fullback or right wingback Chelsea , his young age and impressive performances are of course the reasons for Madrid to try to sign him next season, but as far as I know Reece James has a contract with chelsea until 2025 and it is certain that it will be very difficult for Madrid to get him, after all he has been in the chelsea main squad  and maybe it will be difficult for him to leave the team that has made his name so far.
The deal on Rudiger is done and they are still looking for defenders at Chelsea to hijack at this time.
Indeed at the moment Reece James is quite good for wing back at the moment and of course this is very good enough but I still feel they now have to start facilitating the midfield rather than wingback now considering there are still some pretty good players there like Carvajal or Vasquez but for midfield now it's going to be a bit of a reshuffle to minimal regeneration because soon it's certain that Modric will end considering his current age

According to speculations,Arsenal are on the verge of signing Manchester city forward  Gabriel Jesus. It is believed that Arsenal have met with Jesus' representative and have discussed a deal in principle, with reports suggesting that Jesus have agreed to sign for Arsenal, who are in need of a center forward that will lead their attack next season following the departure of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketia this summer.
If the rumours are true, then Jesus will be a very good addition to the gunners squad.Nevertheless,it is left to be seen whether Arsenal will sign him or not.

It is definitely good news for Arsenal. Gabriel Jesus is one of the decent strikers of the Premier League now. And I think that he would fit Arsenal lineup really good. Manchester City are aiming to sign a top-quality striker this summer. And as we all might have heard, they have still been after Erling Haaland to finish this deal before the beginning of next season. I believe that they will reach an agreement with him or Harry Kane. And Gabriel Jesus is going to be needless for the team. Arsenal would make use of this chance nicely.
If Manchester City doesn't sign a better striker, they will not let Jesus to leave. For Gabriel Jesus to leave means Haaland will come or Kane but if I were Guardiola I will keep Gabriel. He might not be that world class striker that he needs but Jesus is doing well. Besides in City, anyone can score. Kelvin does most of the scoring, Gabriel scores, Sterling scores, Mahrez scores, Fodeb scores and many more.
Then why will Arsenal lose Aubameyang, and still want to release Nketia and Lacazeth?
Manchester City need a striker badly, they can't carry on like this next season.I think Manchester City will do all they to get  Erling Haaland from Dortmund despite having Gabriel Jesus who scored 5 goals in the last two games. Jesus is a decent player and could still be in the club despite having Erling Haaland, Gabriel can come in as a substitute when Haaland is unavailable

Real Madrid reported want to bought Chelsea player Reece James and Madrid Management already met Reeve James agent and talking about the transfer purpose and Ancelotti said for next season he want to upgrade Madrid squad and James is the right player as new defender because he has good skill to defend and attack but there was no detail about price tag for him because Reece James agent still hasn't provided clarification on this rumour

PSG is offering Dembele 17 million Euros per season if he decides to join them. A few months ago he was on the fringes of Barcelona's team but after Xavi came, he really revitalized him and Dembele is starting to show again that he's worth the money.

He's still waiting for Barca's offer before deciding on his next move - but Barca probably won't be able to go as high.

________________

In other news - Raiola unfortunately did pass away after all. It was announced by his family (and confirmed by The Athletic) so this time it is true.

High tendency of Cristiano Ronaldo moving the other way that's if they don't qualify for the Champions League and they seems impossible too.
Halland has a great pair with Sancho at Dortmund and they can build bonds back at old Trafford.
A good addition as he'll bring a lot to the team, can wait for pre-season games.

Rip to Riaola the Italian agent!

RIP...

I wonder what this means for the future of players like Pogba and I think he was also Haaland's agent.  And I also wonder what kind of agreement currently Haaland has with City and if City really does have Haaland's signature and what kind of complications will the death of his agent cause the deal.  I'm pretty sure Raiola has a say in every deal his players have.

I've been seeing some articles saying that Haaland's perfect destination would be at Old Trafford.  Cheesy  Seems like somebody wants to hijack the deal.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
Manchester United will need to make some important changes in their lineup for next season for sure. They should focus on strengthening their defense and attacking lines first. Defense is their biggest problem now. Maguire is not good at all and they need to make a defender addition to the team. And they had better sign a good striker also. Because they can't rely on Ronaldo next season too. It is obvious that they are quite weak in terms of scoring multiple goals in a match. They can solve this problem by adding a quality striker to the team.
Manchester United do need a lot of changes in their lineups. Aside from the goalkeepers, every other department needs to be changed. The team seem like one filled with dead woods. The defense is nothing to write about, with Maguire still the captain of the team too after been horrific defensively tells a lot of how badly a change is needed.
It's definitely an overhaul for next season, even Erik Ten Hag has written several players who will be brought to Manchester United, maybe we've seen some articles about the names of these players, but that hasn't been confirmed, which is clear to me that big changes will definitely happen.
It's true that all management needs changes, this must also be based on Erik Ten Hag so that he chooses the money he wants in every player spend.
I think Ronaldo and Harry Maguire must be kept.

The problem that Barcelona is in right now did not just happen suddenly and also it was not the result of only one ‘transfer gone wrong’ situation. Barcelona did not manage their money well at all and they have made some questionable transfers along the line. This problem was caused gradually over time. If we are talking about managing layers and managing money I think we also need to talk about the money that was given to Messi as a wage.

I totally agree here. If the reports are true and the sources of that reports seem to be pretty trustful, then FC Barcelona paid Lionel Messi 555 Million € for only 4 years. That are 138,75 Million € per year which is just absolutely crazy and no single player should earn that much money. Then the covid pandemic came and FC Barcelona's extremely unstable financial construct immediately collapsed. Now they have more than 1,3 Billion € of debts but they still signed Ferran Torres for 55 M€ from ManCity and there even were reports that they wanted to sign Haaland and now there are rumours that they are trying everything to sign Lewandowski.
I really think that they should stop making such transfers until most of their debts are paid back. That is what a responsible company and club would do.

The rumours about De Jong are heated, I strongly doubt De Jong will want to leave Barcelona though and except he is frustrated at the club that would be the reason he can join Manchester United. If not that, who wouldn't want to play in the champion's league? Manchester United seems like they won't make top four, maybe De Jong might consider other clubs.
I think rumor about De Jong are really true because he looks frustrated when Xavi Hernandez arrived on Barcelona. De Jong most active on the bench and looks not happy without get regular position. Another news Manchester United under Erik Ten Hag are intersted with De Jong and try negotiating how to get him on next window transfer, will be option for Barcelona get much money by selling De Jong to Manchester United.
I believe that he’ll tempted because he’ll get to play under Ten Hag again, and he’ll be reunited with his friend Van De Beek hence this transfer will definitely appeal to him. Furthermore Manchester United is a big club, and he knows that he’ll become a key player for many year’s to come if the transfer is successful therefore I do believe that he’ll make the switch.

The problem with this de Jong situation is that I believe he was hyped up too much by the media and the fans. I am not saying that he is a bad player or anything but he was obviously too much hyped up by the outside world and  I believe right now the role given to him by Xavi is not the same that was agreed on the contract.

so, it's obvious that the player is going to be angry and frustrated. but at the same time, I think he should have understood the situation of the team.

Anyway, I think he is not going to go to Manchester United. I believe better teams are going to be interested in him.

Vaccinized.. immunity level is full.
I don't see how Coutinho contributed to the debt Barcelona is in now. Barcelona is in debt because they mismanaged the funds gotten from Neymar's sale and Coutinho contract wasn't the most elaborate amongst the players at Barcelona then. Barcelona wasn't the right fit for him and since he wasn't producing the kind of performances he had at Liverpool, it was quite easy to make him scapegoat.
Barcelona's debts are about 5 times higher than the amount they received from the sale of Neymar. I think the main reason for Barcelona's debts is the mistakes of the management that inflated the budget and did not think about the risks. As soon as the risks occurred - covid happened and the clubs' revenues plummeted. Barcelona flew into a financial abyss very quickly.
I dont think that covid had the biggest part in Barcelona`s financial problems. They made huge salaries and bought some outrage transfers that killed them. They now will need at least 10 years to go back into positive. The good thing is their deal with spotify that will help them financially really big. They need to focus on their youth academy and getting free transfers.

It's never one player that really destroys a clubs financials, it's keeping the club unprofitable or spending more than they should by their own league rules that causes it. If you keep it at a level where it's profitable and allows you to earn each year, or even lose enough to abide the rules, then there shouldn't really be a problem.

I personally believe that we should be focusing a bit more on not a single player but the system that they were buying and paying for these players. If you make X amount of money and spend X+ then it will never end well. Barceloan did this, and that is why they are in financial distress. A team that pays 1 billion to a player and then makes 1.1 billion wouldn't really be in trouble, so it is just about financials and nothing more.
Barcelona was reckless with their spending, they made quite a fortune from PSG by selling Neymar. They were just spending the funds in buying players they didn’t need. From Dembele to Coutinho, Griezemane etc. To add to Barcelona's problems is the financial fair play because right now the club salary margin is about €144m and it could be even get worse in the coming weeks.

I have heard that Kylian Mbappe is waiting for the season to end officially to announce his final decision about staying or leaving. The season is going to end for PSG on May 21 with the match vs Metz. I think that he will decide to leave and join Real Madrid this summer. I'm like why wouldn't he do so? He already said before that he was dreaming of playing for Real Madrid in the future. This is his biggest opportunity to take advantage of. I don't think that the team are going to be able to convince him to stay longer. Even signing a new manager wouldn't be enough for this I think.

]Mbappe rumors are still circulating now but rumors like this will only be the same as the Haaland rumors which are endless now but there is no official confirmation about it.
I still hope that he will be at Madrid next season but the problem is sometimes it doesn't live up to expectations because as you said when he decided he wanted to move there was definitely a lot of news coming back but now nothing like this has happened.

Yeah, but while Haaland is still under contract Mbappè is a free agent and does whatever he wants.

The season of PSG is basically over, they won the league and they are out of the Champions League.
Why he is not announcing what he will do if he has already chosen Real Madrid?

Or he has not chosen yet?

How did you analyse this without mentioning the most important problem of Manchester United?
You said their most problem is defense and striker. Hmmm!
If I were to be Manchester United coach today, my first signing will be a defensive midfielder. This has been the major problem of Manchester United after Micheal Carrick retired. Defence is week because midfield doesn't exist.
Just imagine that you have midfielders like Ndidi and Kante in Manchester United squad, the defenders will perform brilliantly well. Manchester United major problem is defensiveness midfielder.
